Imagine them playing live in Texas and the South in small venues in the mid 70s when no one in the america knew anything about them or punk. I still laugh about how that must have been.
The Sex Pistols came to Memphis in 1978. I missed the concert unfortunately. I lived in Hattiesburg, MS in 1977, 1978, and I loved to read punk magazines at record stores. It was definitely not the most popular music on campus in 1978, but I loved it. I loved Patti Smith, the Ramones. Yes, the Sex Pistols would have been energetic for small town college bars definitely.
Absolutely hilarious dangerous and so far apart where we were at it in the US! I was little and very intrigued! Disco soft rock and AOR ruled American music...this is ground zero punk! Malcolm Rotten were there to provoke!
Amazing, one of the nights Sid wasn't too smacked out to actually play. I remember there was a huge uproar in my home state of Alabama, back in '78-79, because these guys were supposed to play Birmingham, and the Pearl Clutching contingent reacted so strongly they cancelled, and played in ATL instead. I heard "God Save the Queen" in Wally World the other day. Time.
@@stevenanderson2104 I was there....Ga Tech Student at the time....snuck in for the sound check without Rotten....met Steve, Paul, and a wasted Sid.....Steve put me on the guest list....long story....
@Mark David Yes. That was 1st tme at S,E, Music . . .for me, used to be a bowling alley. Al the tv networks , etc. were there for this first appearance in the states. They were supposed to open in Philadelphia, didn't make it and Atlanta was the next stop. Look at that audience! People like the show, really.
You know what... there's far to much AWESOME music than you can possibly listen to in your LIFETIME.... LIVE IT, LOVE IT... IT'S YOUR OWN PERSONAL SOUNDTRACK shame we've only got one life... BUT if we're lucky when we reach the "Other Side" and find a never ending jukebox of Every single, album CD and more variations... Meatloaf was wrong when he sang "Heaven Can Wait"... Rocking and Rolling for eternity... sounds like heaven to me.... " ENJOY "
I hadn't thought that the lyric 'Get Pissed' at the end might have been more geared to the American market. They might have meant angry, no drunk all along.
The yanks had no understanding of what was happening in Britain at the time which in turn also meant they lacked any idea of what the pistols were all about outside of them being loud & in ur face
Shame they didn't actually understand what anarchy when they wrote this, but what ever.. Big difference Anarchy and chaos. they were chaos merchants and very ignorant at that!
La parte del solo de guitarra suena horrible, (no se si a causa de instrumento desafinado, mala grabación o Jones está tan borracho y drogado que le pifia a las notas).
@jenwill11 ah you don't know the us to well. I was 13 in 79 when I first herd the pistols and no one had to explain to me and my generation what the punk tude was about. Have you ever listen to the MC5. back in the usa, american ruse. , live, WSU Tarter field 1970, the start of garage rock or punk
Lol yeah. The poster boys for punk rock. But there were so many better bands and albums. I think Peter Buck from REM was at this gig. So maybe something good came of it

There were christian protests and the news made it seem like a portal to hell was opening. At least in atlanta.

C'est un Grand chanteur, sinon le Plus Grand!!!!(For Me).
Un commentaire en français, c'est rare ! J'y réponds donc pour un classique de ce genre !
Johnny Rotten, le plus grand chanteur? Non, jamais!

Don`t be ridiculous,in 1976-77 in England we didn`t even know that expression had a different meaning in America
