@krisstafford74 we thought the toughest wrecker ever was the 1969 Autocar with a Holmes 850. Everyone was surprised when we uprighted empty tractor trailers by using only the 850, pulling off of the side.
Since im fairly new to your channel this is the first time to actually see the complete side of this truck in good light and its a great looking truck nice and clean details 👌
@krisstafford74 why not. The boys at Pepe's know what they are doing. All the other channels I watch are just clowns acting like they know what they're doing
@VarneyBarnett definitely know what they are doing.. I'm just not a fan of making a recovery more complicated for UA-cam purposes or using 3 trucks on something that doesn't require it.. just my personal preferences nothing against them or you
I was just about to send you a Hi vis Hoodie lol.. sad to see you leave the company, your truck as well as the 75 ton rotator, look amazing, I really like the reflective blue stripes on your truck though. I hope your next boss lets you film your recovery's and tows.
Hope ya keep making vids. Kinda nice seeing local jobs done professionally. Any chance of you telling us who you're going to work for? If not I understand. Great job!
@@Hondabill when I first started I kept a notebook in my shirt pocket that I had written all the ratings written down.. took a few months but I memorized all of it
I’m gonna ask a stupid question. 😆 for a friend of course. Can someone with a dtu back up to the trailer , put some chain under the casualty around the king pin and to the chain sling attachments on the t bar , and then lift the front of the trailer using the T bar ? Then place some cribbing underneath or use the trailer supports they have at these Distribution centers, to hold the trailer up while someone backs under it ? I have lifted several dropped trailers loaded with my miller dtu. A reefer just the other day that sank in the mud. I was able to get my t bar under it and then lift and put blocks of wood under the landing gear. Then as one man cranked the landing gear, i slowly lifted the nose of the trailer making sure the landing gear was always touching the wood payed under it. Any reason that’s not supposed to be done?
I've done it that way as well.. my only problem with that is even though structurally most dtu are rated to handle the weight approx 45k pounds fully retracted that is a ton of weight in a lighter chassis and you are working the truck way harder than it should be
@@krisstafford74 definitely! Enjoy the content for sure! Always wanted to run a rotator. I operate a medium duty service truck with a 10k crane. Anytime I get a big lift I use some of you guys rigging knowledge
Wouldn’t want to be driving a Hilo into that compromised area. I’d probably drag the pallets back to a safer area and add a couple of trailer jack supports temporarily
In this situation , the truck pulled out without the 5th wheel locked. I'm a log hauler , our trailers have swing out landing gear (most of them) and obviously the full width footprint to ground of the landing gear provides better stability. I've seen van type trailers with crank up landing gear on the ground as in your situation. What gives it up ? Does the gears in the landing gear ever give out ? Does the mounting of landing gear to chassis ever buckle/ break ? Of course , anything can happen including insufficient solid ground footprint , hot or weak asphalt. Driver error. But what do you see mostly in landing gear failure ? And , I don't know how you tolerate all of the flashing lights especially when the blues and reds are involved with law enforcement & fire .
Thanks for watching.. in this case it was the forward movement of the trailer as the landing gear took on the weight of the trailer... They are very strong holding a vertical load but when adding that weight with also the horizontal force from the trailer moving forward will lead to failure quite often
Did you buy you a new rotator or you going be working for someone else just curious you seem to know what its all about out here hate to see a good man in the heavy tow quit our passionate job😂😂

That landing gear didn’t collapse. It fell off the back of the yard truck after the yard monkey failed to make sure it was hooked.

I'm guessing they put the tractor under it so they can unload it, then take empty trailer to a shop. That's a costly mistake.
