@HOLYMOTHERGOD "Older" cameras (like from 80s and 90s) had a small battery to keep the clock settings. "Newer" cameras (like from 2000 and up), got rid of it, and used a capacitor or the camera main battery to keep the clock settings. It is normal if you store the camera without a charged battery, you lose the camera settings. If that is your only issue you are in good shape. Thanks for watching.
Nice! Mine works most of the time. Every once in a while, I get a 33:xx error. But those can usually be cleared. I am still amazed at how small this camera was for 2000. Check out the video where I made it into a smart TV. ua-cam.com/video/Ytcivsrf-4s/v-deo.htmlsi=4KLzpH30G8BqC4-v
Does this camcorder have the same aesthetic as the Hi8 camcorders? This seems interesting to me since I have recently bought an old camera that uses the same battery.
@@Roasted_Bunny Yes. Although this is a digital camcorder the aesthetic is pretty much the same as the hi8 in terms of how it looks. It still shoots interlaced standard definition video on a 25 year old sensor so it will not look like a modern camera. If that’s the look you are going for then you should be happy. Thanks for watching.
Love the size of this camera just bought myself one only thing i dont like is that it records in 15 sec clips. Might it be the settings? Any suggestions?
Cameras of this era were incapable of recording full resolution full length video onto a memory stick. In fact, this one doesn't record video at all on a memory stick. Mine doesn't anyways only stills, i just tried and no option exists for recording video to the memory stick. If you are getting 15 second clips consider yourself lucky. It wasn't until almost a decade later around 2007 or 2008 that full motion video to memory stick became possible. Thanks for watching.
Let me qualify that no tape based camcorder I know if can record full resolution video clips to memory card. Some can do postage stamp sized low resolution video clips of limited duration. By the time full resolution recording to memory card became feasible the tape era was over and you will find this on harddrive and DVD camcorders.
There are multiple ways to get the video off the camera. I have a multipart series describing many ways. Here is the playlist. Analog to Video (6 Part Series): ua-cam.com/play/PLSh5LPnUxQZpLC0_BNwWLx6A47MVposgI.html Thanks for watching
i bought a fairly old one on fb marketplace for 10aud with Japanese writing all over, got a battery, doesn't turn on but makes sound and flashes on, going to buy a battery charger so hopefully it can actually work because I'm not aware of any camcorder repair stores or personals in my area. Wish me luck!
Absolutely you can erase the video on tape as many times as you like. Usually back in the day, when the tape got full, you simply bought more tapes as there was nothing else to store the video. Today you can transfer the video to the computer and erase the tape and start over. Thanks for watching.
@1:56 I rotate the switch that turns it on. If yours is not turning on then battery is probably dead. I bought one that wouldnt stay on for more than a second even with fresh battery. Thanks for watching.

Hey I don't know if you can give me any help about that, I bought the same model recently but the touch screen is not working great, when I touch the center or the left of the screen it touches the right down corner, I've tried to do the calibration by pressing the display button for 5 seconds in vcr mode, but nothing changed after the calibration, do you know how to fix it? I've also removed the back screws and removed and reconnected the flats but nothing change at all. If you have any suggestions, please help me out ;)
That sounds like a hardware issue that will likely require a repair, as the touchscreen is likely malfunctioning. Sorry, I would just buy another one, but I have replaced a touch screen before but it's a little like brain surgery, only more difficult. Thanks for watching.
@@WaybackRewind I have opened already and it's look like the digitalizer is burned or something! How did you replaced? Did yo took from another camera?

If your camera shoots digitally and has a firewire then using the firewire will always be the highest quality. You will get the data stream in its native format without conversion losses. Even if its an older analog video converting to DV and using the firewire will probably still be the highest quality.
