I hope you don't mind if I add some extra info here! I just think these are some fun extra tidbits!
If I remember correctly, the Prequel cover was inspired by a Sepultura album cover, the same one Tobias has tattoo'd on his left bicep (it was his first tattoo!) On the cover, and on his tattoo, there's a Itty bitty Death that you can see, and it looks almost exactly like the one that's on the variations of the Prequel cover. I believe Tobias said this was on purpose, as one last little nod of appreciation to Sepultura. I wish I had sources, I'm sorry! I think they were all written interviews!
Swede Saint Peter could also refer to Pelle “Peter” Hällje, who came up with idea for a Papa Emeritus, and who testified on the side of the lawsuit ghouls during the trial
The Year Zero uh, nude model, was the bassist at the time! "Papa Emeritus II" said it was a band member during a reddit AMA, but I don't know where the confirmation of it being the bassist came from. Slavghoul has said it more than once though!
You're right about Tobias deciding to pick between album themes to do first for Meliora and Prequelle, I know I definately learned this recently, but I don't remember where! I think it was an audio interview, and from the Impera era

I just wanted to say that I've been a Ghost fan since Halloween 2021, but I had a fair bit of exposure to the band prior, mainly being your An Unhelpful Guide To Ghost video. Back then I had no clue wtf was going on, but now having watched it 3 times I'm on a downward spiral in my love for this band. As of now, I went to the ritual last week in London and it was a fuckin religious experience. You're partly to blame for this and I thank you dearly for helping introduce me to my favorite band.
By the way I have a huge crush on Cirrus now and it's all your fault

no, in the video he said that they claimed to have been given it from the band, but when he checked with them, it wasn't the case, insinuating they stole it.

I love Bigs the Bishop, hes such an incredible artist, but Yukkedon will always be my favorite, simply because I like his style more. Zbig has a lot of detail and realism in how he folds his designs together, but Yukke has such simple pop art style flat color character designs that i just vibe with so hard.

Same here :)) I’m a fellow Pole and I’ve checked out Zbigniew as well. He used to call himself “episcopus cracoviensis” (a bishop of Cracow) back in the day when Ghost was still anonymous.

yes it was! there was a film version that was slightly different, less guitars etc. you can find high quality rips of it on youtube, I personally prefer the single version.

They were the warmup band for the time i was at a ghost concert, and uhh they were pretty bad live at least. Maybe its just that it wasnt set up for them, but the sound was bad, and the music sounded pretty stale and uninspired so idk
Candlemass was actually one of the main inspirations for Ghost. Before taking on the role of Papa Emeritus, Tobias actually had Candlemass’ old vocalist Messiah Marcolin (and some other fellas) in mind for frontman, but he turned down the offer. The operatic voice Tobias used for Papa I-III was actually inspired by Messiah Marcolin.
Tobias is a big fan, and is at least acquaintances with Leif Edling. I talked to him in 2017 about them and their album art that features The Voyage of Life. Not only did Tobias know the paintings were by Thomas Cole, but he's tried to convince Lief to use the other paintings in the series for album art.

As much as a number of Ghost fans may shit on Priest, they produced some good music (if you avoid reading into any butthurt meaning behind some). The Ginger Khan days were the best. Linton Rubino isn't a vey good singer.
honestly same, Obey EP was the best since it still had Ginger but it cooled down on the bashing.

Beating my point to death, Linton Rubino is a good musician and producer, but he struggles with doing the stuff live. Dark wave can be done live just fine. Look at Twin Tribe's Part Time Punks sessions.

Tobias paid his former ghouls, they just expected more money than they were worth, and considering he now has professional touring members, who have played with the likes of Paramore, Sisters of Mercy and Brody Dale, I can assume they reckon they have a good deal going with Tobias.
