Love them all! The dresses all look great on you,. And the jacket is perfect! I really like the ribbon trim on the sleeves, and the way you worked the seams inside - tutorial, please! All in all, the ribbon, button, and inside seam detail all work together to add a bit of pop! Thanks for another great video!
Thanks so much, Sharron. It was funny, I felt like I was cheating or something using that hem tape to cover the seams. Like, is this allowed? I don’t know what I thought would happen - banging on the door and the Sewing Police come barreling forth with megaphones calling me out, lol. I don’t know if the fusing will hold during washing, but it seems pretty secure.😄👍
Vivmom Sews girl, you have a great sense of humor! Ha! However, I would think hem tape should hold. If not, well......I’m sure you will find something that will and that will make another great video! 😘
Thank you for all the Inspirations. I finally made myself a top. Have not sown in years maybe decades. I did new-look 6976 wish I could post pictures here
@Lorelei Steinhagan There are a couple ways to do it. Search how to make a slideshow on youtube.I use the movie maker thingy that came on my laptop. Then I go to yt and upload it. You can add voice over or music if you want. It is really easy. Hope this helps.
I love all your makes--as usual. :) That oversized dress at the beginning looks great on you. I wasn't sure if it would look good on anyone, but you pulled it off beautifully.
I love all your dresses & that jacket is perfect with 1 button. My favorite is the asymmetrical panel dress. I gave myself permission to relax on my garment sewing. I’m traveling in October with my husband & set an unrealistic goal of wearing me made outfits over the 10 days. My skills are not advancing quickly enough & I was feeling the pressure & losing my joy in the process. I Longarm quilt & have so much more success with that, due to hours of practice. I have committed to quilting a king size quilt for my guild to raffle off as a fundraiser which is keeping me busy for now, I love your videos. Keep them coming please
I love your lovely black asymmetrical dress. It looks so dressy & you look beautiful in it. Also the purple diagonal long dress, & that jacket is wonderful! You are inpspiring to us. I'm a 71 year old Grandma with some health/energy issues. When I get our RV/home(our RV is our home) in order I will get to sew this fall. So thank you. You keep my eyes on the goal. Lord Jesus bless you & yours (former Pastor's wife)
What a sweet message, Diane. Thank you so much! I’m sending prayers for your health, I hope you might find enough strength to sew a simple top. It really does feel rewarding and does the soul good.💕
Bravo!!!! I love ALL of your dresses and don't have a favorite because all of them are FABULOUS. You look smashing in each one!! Your jacket is a winner, too! Quick tip: If you sew a button on the reverse side of the shank (let the thread catch a regular flat button sewn directly behind it on the inside of the garment), the shank-style button will become "stabilized" and it won't come loose.😊I can't wait to see the children in their outfits. You are 👑queen of sewing! 💖👍🏽🌟🏆🌱🌹🍃👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Yes, I've used iron on tape in a pinch for seam finishing. The jacket looks great! The overlay dress, purple, diagonal print in that order. All are winners. Congrats. Now fall wardrobe planning? We have such humid & or warm Septembers- kind of a reprive. Happy sewing! P.S. have you any recommendations for working with mid & heavier weight sweater knits? I'm usually fearless cutting but these are tricky. Thanks!
Hi Adrienne, welcome! Happy to have you along. It’s a treat to hear that you’re feeling inspired, thank you! And thanks too for your compliments and support.😃👍
Love the jacket...and I like lighter, less fussy and cooler unlined jackets too. As long as the fabric is substantial enough to not look saggy...and the fabric you chose looks like it’s got enough weight to hang properly. All of your sews look great on you!
Aww shucks, that’s so nice Diane! I was excited to find clips for my old Clairol Kindness hot rollers. I got it in high school!! But somewhere along the way I lost the clips. Enter eBay. How did we live our lives before eBay? Lol.😃
Viv, really love all of your makes for July, love the dress in the diagonal design, very clever choice! Also loved the jacket 😋, you always inspire me. Keep sewing!
Love, love, love everything you made in July. Being a big girl I love the slightly hippie looseness of the dresses. Unfortunately it's the middle of Winter down here in New Zealand but I will have my Summer wardrobe all prepared !
Hi Susan! Thanks so much for your effusive compliments, so sweet.💕It’s hard to imagine winter in this heat!! So glad some of the dress ideas are appealing to you.👍
Another great video! Love the outfits! Beautiful fabric. Jacket is so cute! I remember you blindfolding him to pick a pattern. Lol... Have a blessed day!
Hi Janet! Yes that was some pick, wasn’t it? The minute he pulled it out my heart sunk. But ya know, I’m glad I made it - even if I can’t fathom wearing it in this heat. It’ll be ready for Fall and I found I loved the pattern! Thanks so much for writing.
Wow Viv ! You've been a busy gal ! ! Bravo to you and you look fabulous. I like all the dresses and the jacket blazer " All that anxiety you had 😨 and you conquered it !! 👏 👍 🙌 👗 👘 👚 👒
I love all your dress, but really love the second dress. The color compliments your skin tone and hair. Your jacket is wonderful. I just needed the 😂 at the end. I was just waiting for it. Thank you so much for sharing. God Bless. P.S. you talked me into getting two or three more patterns...
We are all Pattern and Fabric Acquisition Experts afterall, Jacqueline, so we must keep up our expertise. Good job! And thanks for your wonderful words.💕
Who would have thought you could have such a cute dress from S8856. I have ignored this pattern so many times. The dress is adorable!!! All of your makes look so nice on you. Thank you for sharing!
Thanks LuAnn!💕S8856 appealed to me, maybe because it’s sort of vintage. I think the key is to go with super drapey fabric. I was surprised they sewed the envelope version in linen, but then again linen softens beautifully and could work!
Love your dress they all turned out too cute and that Jacket it inspires me. The first dress 8856 I have that pattern and have been wanting to sew it . I guess I have no excuses now.
Wow! I love them all! You just keep us on the edge of our seats looking for your next videos. Thank you for sharing your fashions and all of your tips with us it is very much appreciated.
5 fabulous makes!! The dresses are all so different but each one looks amazing on you. The jacket is a winner too, and the type of easy piece we all need more of. Have a lovely weekend. x
Wow, you did it! All the dresses are so darling on you and they fit you so well. I think my favorite was the black dress. You will get so much wear from your coat in the months ahead. It will be a great coat for running errands, going to sports games and oh, yes indeed, fabric shopping!!
Well done! Those dresses are very welle fitted, seems like the sway back is not that big an issue with those patterns. I love the black overlay one :) I'm finally (finally!) on holiday so I'm going to ba=e able to finally (finally!) get some sewing done! Big plans little time, same old. Thanks Viv for the energy and positivity you sread all the way up to me in France xxx Cilou
Hi, I love your videos, your wit and humility make feel inspired. I really appreciate your practicality as well, i.e.- replacing zippers when a keyhole can suffice, using bias tape rather than a bulky facing, etc. I especially appreviate it when you admit that you've made a mistake(like the picket issue on the jacket). I so appreciate that; it helps me when I make a mistake. I'd love to meet you sometime, I think we would be grest buds!
Love 8856 and the jacket. I am glad you went with the sparkle material for the jacket. The other dresses are lovely but I would wear the olive green dress until it fell off me. Well done, very successful sewing . Thanks for video Viv.....Cheers....
I absolutely love the dresses, specially the 2nd and 3rd dresses, very elegant and the colors are so perfect for you. The first one, I do like it and looks great. I am not sure I could do such a pretty dresses. I finished a duster and I uses a jersey fabric very thin, perfect for a cool summer night. 2 tops and 1 pencil skirt. The tops were a bit larger, can't get the correct size for me and I had to take it a few time to make them look presentable.
Omg. You look great in your makes. Now I want to get New Look 6614. I passed that one up, but seeing it on you, I need it in my life. You have the nicest shoes too.
The side drape dress looked very chic. It was made for you.. looked like a great fit.. this pattern would be good out of formal type fabric.. very high end looking
Such a good point, betty. I hadn’t thought about a formal look. The overlay in chiffon could be beautiful! Thanks for writing and for your compliments.😄🌺
I KNEW that diagonal print would be great on you! Beautiful dresses all, but that one is my favorite of all the clothing you've made. Nice work and it looks like a perfect fit. 👍
Thanks Vanessa! Feels strange to sew and try on a coat in this crazy heat but I’m glad to have it waiting for Fall. The pattern surprised me, too. I was a bit deflated when Brad picked it, but it turned out to be a fun sew.😄
That New Look 6674 is so pretty, love the overlay, it looks purple (my fav color). Oh my gosh, you go, you finished your jacket..>BRAVO!! Everything turned out great!!!
A jacket in this sweltering heat might qualify as cruel and unusual punishment, but I’m happy to have it. And the pattern was a happy surprise. Thanks Natieda!😄
Your garments are awesome! I love all you do. I've learned to look at patterns differently, and it's been great! I'm buying patterns like crazy. Thanks for all you do! Really love the jacket. 🙂
I like all your makes but my favorite is the overlay dress, very nice! I also finished my goals for July. I made a skirt and a blouse with flouncy sleeves Im just doing the hem of the blouse and Im done. Thanks for being so inspirational! I made NewLook A6544 skirt C and Butterick B6456 blouse A.
Loved all the dresses they looked amazing on you, also loved your choice of fabric's and patterns, great job on the jacket. I can see you have have so much fun sewing, very accomplished.
Thank you, Melania. This round really WAS fun to sew. Sometimes I’m a grouchy seamstress when I keep making mistakes, but thank the Lord I was pretty much on point with these garments and truly enjoyed making them.💕
Hi Viv, what a nice surprise and honour to hear from you. I enjoy your tutorials very much, and you inspire me as well. God Bless, and keep on inspiring. Hugs Melania
Oh wow! My fav dress on you was the little pink dress you wore first. Brad should pick more patterns. That cute little jacket is adorable and the sparkles do show! Great job!
Thanks Karen! I’m so chuffed that you can see the sparkles. In my dreams I have top quality filming equipment with crystal clear resolution. Maybe someday!!😃
They are all beautiful! The overlap dress looks so elegant! There are some breezy days in summer when you need a light jacket and I love the casual look of this one. Always looking forward to your tutorials
Love all your new dresses and jacket! Great job! They all look wonderful on you. The diagonal stripe is probably my favorite. Hard to choose when they all look wonderful. 🧵Happy Day! Yay!
Loving the artisan and pleated front & back dresses and I am not a dress lover. Kudos on getting the jacket done. I did not get a Barbie dress sewn but, I did have 2 miracles happen. My mother fell, didn't break anything but, couldn't walk so there was talk of a nursing home. By the next day she was walking, miracle #1. Monday morning I checked on the babies (5 orphaned kittens) and the littlest one I thought was dead. She had been fine the night before but now wasn't going to make it. I worked on her for hours getting what I could down her with a syringe but not too much. A lot of crying and praying and by that night she was able to suck on a bottle. Still don't know why but am bottle feeding her every 2 hours even though she eats with her sibs. They will be 6 weeks old Aug 5th but, think she will be staying with us, my little miracle. So no Barbie dress but would rather have my miracles
Oh jm, what a time you’ve had. Thank God your mom had a miraculous turnaround!! And the kitten story is precious. Animals are so dear about thanking us - she will thank you often as she grows. I’m so glad you’re keeping her.💕
Aww janie, I’m so sorry. She just couldn’t make it, but you gave her care and love and that mattered. It made the difference between lonesome toiling for her and your gentle helping arms that eased her pain. Will remember you in my prayers today. Thanks for all you did and are doing for those little creatures.💕
You did it! I was so inspired by your videos that today I bought a top pattern and linen to create it. About 10 years ago I became overwhelmed by advice from 'fitting gurus' and stopped sewing clothes and started making quilts. Your advice on choosing a pattern size made so much sense to me I decided to try again. Thank you for lighting my fire for creating pretty garments again. LOLove!
Hi Marilyn! The same thing nearly happened to me - I got embroiled in a couple fitting forums on a sewing site and my head was spinning. Then one woman told me that I would “never” understand fit, or be able to sew well fitting pants. I wish I wouldn’t remember her words so clearly, but I do. I think some advice is fine, but too much is deadly. So glad you’re feeling like picking it up again. When I spent some time with the pattern and figured out about fitting my full bust, there was no turning back. I’m wishing you much success, and thanks a mil for writing!😄
Four weddings and a funeral 😂😂😂. You are so much fun and I adore your makes. I love how you put fabric to a pattern. It makes me think more now when I pick out patterns. I loved every one of your makes, as always!!
Thank you, Helen! And thanks for enduring my goofy attempts at humor.🙄You’re so sweet to add that “as always,” at the end of your comment, gosh. That gives me a real bounce in my step!!💕
You did it! Your July makes are beautiful and you wear them well. I appreciate the dialog of your sewing process and any hints you provide for fixes or things to watch out for. AND, I finished my simple little crossover apron which presented more of a challenge than I thought. But I kept going, thinking of all of us sewing along with you! Thanks again for the challenge as I'm sure my pattern would still be in a draw waiting for me to be in the mood.
I’m so proud of you, lynn! A new apron would be so much fun. I wear an apron every night that I cook dinner. It’s always stumped me that people on cooking shows don’t wear them - don’t they want to save their clothing?? (Plus, they really need to tie up their hair, but that’s another topic.) Well done on completing your apron👏👏even with the hurdles to cross! And thank you for your sweet compliments and encouragement.💕
Great makes. I particularly like the loden dress - perfect fabric choice and flows beautifully, and the overlay dress - such an elegant design and fabric. The jacket has a unique style with the sleeve cuffs and large button. I'd love to have these outfits myself!
Aww thank you, Melanie! What a sweet note for me. I’m especially happy to hear that you like the jacket with its quick-fix attributes. I am glad I only went with 1 button after my machine bungled the buttonhole so badly.☹️And I love the green dress too! Next time I hope to improve my corners.👍
i was so waiting for this! love the asymetrical dress and that blue long one is sooooo beautiful...loved them all and that coat is so smart looking...well done!
Loving the 8856 - looks so cool! The other dresses are gorgeous too. Well done on getting Brads choice, jacket sewn up in time. It looks lovely and will no doubt come in useful as the seasons change ❤️
Omg you’d look great in a paper bag. I’m so jealous. Lol. I could talk on and on about each one and what I love about them.......EVERYTHING! You did a fantastic job making that jacket pattern a hit. I was almost scared to see it. To me it doesn’t look anything like the drawing. 100 times better! I wish we could sew together.
Oh you’re a sweetheart, KR. Thanks a million!! The jacket was really quite fun to sew, even if I felt a bit bummed about Brad choosing it. Now it will be ready for Fall - I’m never ready for a coming season, so that’s a pretty big deal around here. I appreciate your enthusiasm so much!!😄💕
All lovely makes this month; you look great in every one of them! I didnt even know they made fusable hem tape/seam binding. It looks lovely in your jacket. Yes please, do tell a bit more about it!
I completed my knit pants, a dress, a denim bag & small gift towels ( machine sewing) ! Loved the challenge you gv for July! I LOVE the jacket!! And your honesty cracks me up!! All your garments are sooo nice!!
Yay Lindee!!👏👏So proud of you for completing your projects, and so many. Wow!! Really fantastic. You’re a doll to write and tell me. Really makes my day, along with your generous words.
All the dresses and jacket turned out great. The length on the diagonal dress really highlights the print where a shorter version wouldn't show it. I finished all my challenge items. The top that had trouble with buttons meeting-I opened the facings and got enough fabric and didn't ruin the drape.
The haircut is from the little $5.99 school! They’re always ultra conscientious, so nice. It tends to take a while though, but I love that place! Thanks for your nice words, Joann!
Hi Marg. I took a looooong hiatus from sewing. Then I made a dress in late 2016 and fell in love with it again! Haven’t looked back. I can count the pieces I’ve bought in a store on one hand since then. Who knew?! If you decide to dust off your machine, I hope you have a wonderful time of it! Thanks for writing!😃
Viv, I think the pattern companies should hire you to model for their pattern covers. You look amazing in everything you sew. 👸
Yes she does, doesn't she?
Oh Laurie, you’re such a sweetheart!! Thanks!💕
Hi Viv! It’s Viv. You’re a sweet Viv. -Viv 😃😃
Hello, I agree Viv does look very nice in her clothes.
I agree!
Oh, that third dress looks really nice on you..but i think you could wear a potato sack and look marvelous. The jacket turned out really nice as well.
What a doll! Thanks Lynn Marie! I’m not worthy, but thanks!😃🌺
Love how the diagonal fabric dress turned out. They all looked great but that one is my favorite.
Totally agree!
I thought so as well!
You are SO CLEVER Viv🤗
Love your fashion sense too!
Oops....back to sewing🤣
Love them all! The dresses all look great on you,. And the jacket is perfect! I really like the ribbon trim on the sleeves, and the way you worked the seams inside - tutorial, please! All in all, the ribbon, button, and inside seam detail all work together to add a bit of pop!
Thanks for another great video!

Thanks Elizabeth! I loved that dress on the envelope and it sewed up very easily. Glad it looks good!!😃
I just love the jacket!!! You look so polished in it! All the dresses are nice too.
Thanks Vanessa! Feels strange to sew and try on a coat in this crazy heat but I’m glad to have it waiting for Fall. The pattern surprised me, too. I was a bit deflated when Brad picked it, but it turned out to be a fun sew.😄
They are all beautiful. I’m so impressed that you did the jacket. Thanks for all the fun and inspiration.
Aw thanks, Elisa. I wasn’t excited about the jacket but I ended up loving the whole process! Go figure.😃
Thanks Karen! You’re a Pattern Acquisition Expert, never underestimate your superpowers!!😃
I got my quilt quilted, just need to do binding. Pants hopefully this weekend
Wonderfull, I usually make patchwork and when it comes to quilting I stop and use them as tablecloths, be blessed.
Fabulous work, Rita!!👏👏I’m cheering for you!
Excellent makes. They were gorgeous and so were you. Thanks for sharing.
Aww, you’re the sweetest. Thank you, Ouida!💕
Thanks, Lylian, what a lovely message!💕
You always cheer me up, thanks Vivsmum 😊
And you me, Gail!😃
Wow you got your grove back. Really loved all of your makes and the fabrics used.
You're so AWESOME! Thanks for the great videos. :)
And you are a DOLL!! Thanks Julie!💕
Love all your new dresses and jacket! Great job! They all look wonderful on you. The diagonal stripe is probably my favorite. Hard to choose when they all look wonderful. 🧵Happy Day! Yay!
Hello pam! Thanks for your typically sunny and sweet comment!🌺
Love the simplicity 8910! All look great but that one is my favorite and that color looks great on you.
Love the jacket, perfect length and thanks for the tip on the hem tape.
I dont know how you find the time! Lol
Wonderful stuff.
Been waiting for you Vivmomx thanks
Goodbye July! I love the dresses but the jacket is fantastic! The fabric is great and I love the way you finished that seam.
Thank you, Lavada!😃💕
Wow. Love the black dress on you with your hair up. BRAD SHOULD TAKE YOU out in that one.
I told him what you said, Denise!! Thanks!!
So fun to watch! You are an inspiration.
Thanks Christine! That is so sweet!🌺
PS...MARVELOUS HAIR!!!!
Oh jm, what a time you’ve had. Thank God your mom had a miraculous turnaround!! And the kitten story is precious. Animals are so dear about thanking us - she will thank you often as she grows. I’m so glad you’re keeping her.💕
@@vivmomsews4962 UPDATE ….the little baby died last night. I am heartbroken. janie
I LOLed at the shout out to your sewing machine! Great makes, and I especially love your jacket.
Hello Vivmom love your new hair do👍
Vivmom, my daughter and I are watching and we love everything you made. Well done!
Hi Susan & daughter👋! Happy you’re here and thanks so much for the encouragement!!
Great job again Viv !
Thank you, milady, very kind of you to say!🌺
As usual I love your makes. I love your sparkly jacket.
Viv you are amazing. I like all your dresses and jacket. Really like the choice of fabric for the coat
Aww Rita, I’m really not amazing, but you’re a darling to say so! Thank you.💕
The last three dresses look fab on you. The v-neck is so flattering. Love the jacket too.
These videos are very inspirational since it helps me to choose a pattern based on the finished product. Great Job
I’m so happy to hear that, Hypha, thank you!🌺
Love that olive green dress! Good summer and fall dress. Also enjoy the princess seam dress.great material.
I absolutely love that New Look dress on you. Great pattern - I may have to pick that one up. TFS.
You are so talented! I love your videos. Beautiful, happy and talented! God certainly gave you some GREAT GIFTS!!!
Thank you, Shirley! Your enthusiasm is leaping off the screen and it’s such a pleasure!😄🌺
i was so waiting for this! love the asymetrical dress and that blue long one is sooooo beautiful...loved them all and that coat is so smart looking...well done!
Thanks, doll!💕
Loving the 8856 - looks so cool! The other dresses are gorgeous too. Well done on getting Brads choice, jacket sewn up in time. It looks lovely and will no doubt come in useful as the seasons change ❤️
Your videos are my favorite! Thank you for sharing your sewing experiences!
Thanks Andrea! You’re a dear.💕
I absolutely love all these pieces.you are a fantastic seamstress
Oh Cathy, that is so nice. Thank you!!💕
I completed my knit pants, a dress, a denim bag & small gift towels ( machine sewing) !
Fabulous work and save on your top, Dorothy!! Hooray!!👏👏And thank you for your compliments. That’s a great point about the diagonal fabric!
WOW! Loved every piece! Great job! Especially your fabric choices! All look wonderful on you too! Hugs from hot Mississippi 😅
Hugs right back from hot Virginia!😂
Great job with the dresses, love the jacket, and....love the new haircut!
The haircut is from the little $5.99 school! They’re always ultra conscientious, so nice. It tends to take a while though, but I love that place! Thanks for your nice words, Joann!
Its awesome that women are still sewing! I've loved it since I learned in home ec class, but havn't touched my machine in decades. You're inspiring!
