So, how does this switch actually work? You put the key in, turn to the run position and then (instead of turning the key to start) you push the button? What's the point of that? How about a button and NO KEY? You just spent $100 to push a button instead of turning the key all the way. If you still have to put a key in and turn it, what's the point?
Bc it’s cool, plenty of cars have the same thing, look at the Bugatti veyron, $1.5 million car, previous world record holder and it has a key and push to start

You’d be surprised how many cars have some variation of this. I agree it’s redundant, but this was something BMW was trying to convince us was cool up until like 2014

It’d be cool to have this with some kind of remote that detects something on your key like a modern push-button. Definitely not period correct but be nice to have as a redundancy if you felt like leaving the key in your pocket
idk why but i like mods like this.. like OEM + kinda mods that just seem nice and clean.... neeed more stuff like this LOVE THE CONTENT some short and sweet stuff

So you need to insert your key, turn it to ignition but then push the button instead of turning the key further? Do you need anything else for it or will it fit in a stock mx5/miata. Got a 97 montegoblue na but not very clean. Love your level of perfection!

I just wired the cig lighter to be a momentary switch... no one will ever guess and pull it out for anti theft...
I noticed you have the OEM tape player! I do too! We are probably the only two in the world 😂

I know you have the kill switch, but for those of us that don't is it also push button to turn the engine off or would it be the key turned to the off position to stop the engine?
I have the original ZOOM push start button on mine, I really like the look of the updated version. The original is just a simple black button and a brushed aluminum cover plate. Don't get me wrong, the OG version is dope but the new one looks super period correct and actually says "Engine Start". I just went to Rev9 and looked it up and go figure, sold out and back ordered until mid March... Dope Yatta, brotha.
I got both the Zoom and the S2000. I placed the S2000 in my cigarette lighter on the right side and hooked the S2000 just to the ignition, so it'll look on, as i use it as a decoy on the right side, to fool thieves. My Zoom is the real starter, on the left side, and i sprayed it with a laquer black to hide the color button. When i get people in my car, lol, im pushing 2 buttons at the same time to start, but they only see my pushing the dummy s2000. I also have a remote battery cut off, but its defective asbit works half the time, and i need to order another. Stealing my car won't be easy.

Hmmm interesting that its different for NA8 vs NA6. The connector is the same on both. In fact I have an NA6 pigtail wired into my NA8.

What did you wire the killswitch to? Also you could just wire a killswitch to the black wire coming off the push start, correct?

Is it possible to wire it up in such a way you can have a remote start with a lock out in case it’s in gear?
With all of the miatas getting stolen in San Jose they should make one an alarm. So if someone where to brake in they would go to push it and an alarm would go off.
You still need keys to use the push start.

For some reason my starter spins without the key in the ignition. Would this clear that issue up or what would be the culprit of that starter spinning with no key?

Can you talk more about grounding. Thats the one thing im stuck on when doing this project.
Actually i found out the problem. After you ground and set it up, you still have to press the clutch to start the car.

Whats the point of this? This would only make sense on a dedicated track car or with a real keyless entry and start system
Would be cool if it was a keyless push-to-start... I feel like this is kind of disappointing... I need to put the key in, turn it 2 clicks, and THEN press the button? Why not just turn the key all the way...

It’s pretty cool but for $135 I think that’s insanely overpriced for not even $15 of material
What’s the point of having a push button start for a car when you still have to put in the OEM key and turn it? Aside from looking good, this just looks like extra work to start a car.
I was just going to point this out. So he has to turn the ignition, and then push the start button? Maybe that’s going to be a future mod .
I'd guess number 1 would be style. number 2 would be at least a benefit would be I know that miatas are terrible about the keys getting weak right in the middle and breaking. So less stress of turning it everyday but mostly number 1
The S2000 is the same way also. You just put the key in the On position, then push the button.
@@tsingson9618 Yes my S2K like this and worse (but probably similar to this one) : you have to use key to kill the ignition not the start button. S2K was the first car to have this feature and it was just for starting not stopping. All S2k people learn this by accident hearing the starter screech when trying to kill it. Doh!

@@OMGBUILDS have you thought any about doing some kind of keyless entry/start thing like a new car? That way you don't have to put your key in. You can just sit and push the button with the key in your pocket

Not much of a point if you've got to put the key in still. Id have to add a keyless setup for it to worth it.
Keyless isn't that hard - it also isn't that hard for thieves.
@@OMGBUILDS I'd assume Keyless would be harder for most thieves than a standard keyswitch. And if I've got multiple killswitches and GPS I wouldn't be too concerned.
@@TheGamersRace keyless in a miata means no column lock - easier to jack.
@@OMGBUILDS Stock column lock is easy to break anyway. Never considered it a key deterrent of theft. I'd say a removable steering wheel is a better deterrent.
