    Don’t go around asking people if they have any drugs. People will think you’re annoying or worse a narc. Worse, don’t offer them any when they ask! Because that’s how you get busted. Even if you think they’re they’re cool. For your own safety just say nope. Yes, definitely keep your drug use private and in your own camp.

    Good video. Another thing to keep in mind if someone calls you out for mooping, feathers, whatever, listen to them! Don't bite back at them. You will find that most people out there really want to preserve the desert floor and they are just looking out for you and the event.

    Consent is always a nice thing to remember at Burning Man. There’s nothing like a good natured stranger trying to have a good time and forget that other people may not want to be touched. Asking is always better than assuming and accidentally trigger trauma in someone you’ve just met.

      Since there is no longer enough room on the playa to have everyone who would like to go to Burning Man, regional organizations have sprung up around the world. There are five in Texas: El Paso, San Antonio, Houston, Dallas, and Denton. All of them have communications for their local people and many have regular events held throughout the year.
      Another alternative is to get hooked up with one of the hundreds of theme camps on the playa each year. The majority of burners are in a theme camp -- large or small -- rather than solo camp, bringing something to the city beyond what an individual can.

      Because in reality everyone should be carded. This whole "if you look under 30 youll be carded" thing is not exactly science at work and can be a great opportunity for poor judgement

    • @bettywith2girls
      @bettywith2girls 5 років тому

      Everybody is always insulted. If one is old enough and thinks they look old enough, and they are carded, they get insulted. If one is not old enough, they will act insulted because they want the free booze, even tho they aren't suppose to have it. It's just better for everyone if everyone is carded, no matter how old or young they look like, and that way the people giving out the booze are protected. If you can just tape a copy of your ID to your cup, how much effort is that to show your cup for free booze? Not much.

  • @teodelfuego

    I think the trend of asking people in their 40s, 50s, and on up, for ID, is a form of creeping Defaultia that really detracts from the experience. I need a license to drive home. The risk of it being snagged and ripped off a lanyard or dropped from a pocket is too great. And honestly, after 55 years the one break I should get at Burning Man is not having to conform to fear-based bureaucrats. If I were fortunate to look close to even 30, I would happily tote my ID with me.
    And no, it's neither Federal or Nevada state law that one cannot be served alcohol without a valid ID

    • @projectpterodactyl81
      @projectpterodactyl81  6 років тому +1

      I always think it's a bit weird when people are really clearly old enough to get whatever it is they're trying to get but still get ID'd. I used to work in a supermarket and the fine for selling alcohol to people that were underage was huge so even if I remotely thought someone might be underage I'd ask for ID, but I would't if someone was really obviously old enough.

    Hello, I have seen all your videos and explored burning man festival. It is exactly the kind that suits me and my girlfriend but I want your say on this. Is it beautiful enough a place at night to get married or the nights look similar to the day? Like are there any beautiful lights and installations as backdrop. Off course there will be a few fireworks to kiss too.I know that :D :D :D

    • @projectpterodactyl81
      @projectpterodactyl81  7 років тому +1

      I definitely think it's an amazing place to get married but I do think it has complications like bringing as many guests as you'd like and how those guests would fare at Burning Man (I can't imagine how my family would react to be at Burning Man and imagine there'd be a few hiccups with making sure everyone had a great time. If you've never been before then it's a good idea to go first and see what you think as you won't really know if it's for you until you've experienced it for yourself. It's probably one of the most beautiful backdrops out there, and the best thing is you can choose where you want to have your wedding, a lot of people choose the temple, but plenty of others choose a piece of art, or even just have it near to their camp, so you can hunt about to find a spot that you really love. Good luck with the wedding wherever you decide to have it and a huge congratulations!!!

    • @AshishSharma-ej9vh
      @AshishSharma-ej9vh 7 років тому +1

      We are planning to make an intimate and just-for-our-hearts only event so the guest's problem won't be much of a problem. I have researched quite a lot about the event plus all of your videos should be enough to give any virgin burner a good perspective of the festival. And with all your videos any person who has not been to burning man can still know all about burning man, if not then perhaps you are not doing your job properly isnt it :D :D :D
      But relax, you are doing a great help with the videos and thanx a lot for the wishes.

    • @projectpterodactyl81
      @projectpterodactyl81  7 років тому +1

      Well its 7 days so we will explore and decide, however I just realized we ought a invite you to our wedding. o.o which invokes my next question. Do cellphones work I guess not if not then what could be a good way to track an acquaintance.

      @projectpterodactyl81  7 років тому +1

      I'd love to come! Thanks for the invite :) I'm not bringing my phone with me so that won't work haha and cellphones generally don't work out there. You could leave a note on the notice board at Center Camp for me once you've decided when and where you're going to do it and I'll keep an eye out for it.

    I am not yet sure if attending burning man is for me, please don't think me prudish by this question. I am all for people being themselves and doing their own thing. But part of my wanting to go to burning man, or at least considering doing so, is that I've crawled into a shell and I am looking for new ways and experiences to help me crawl back out of it. That said, I am not sure how I would react to nudists. I know I wouldn't turn violent or anything crazy, but I'm just unsure and tend to turn shy and introverted in uncomfortable situations. I'm fine with them being there and doing their own thing, I could more easily see my self intermingling with them in the overall environment where if I felt to awkward I could politely excuse myself... But if one or more came into my camp and sat there for a period of time, I might feel more cornered. I don't want to exclude anyone... would it be permissible, acceptable, insulting, to ask them to cover their nethers with a towel if I had a spare?

    • @sarahtaylor2201
      @sarahtaylor2201 5 років тому

      Well, you can certainly ask people to respect the rules of your camp, but that would be a somewhat unusual request. There's pretty much no way to avoid seeing peoples' nether regions out there. Some are rather in-your-face about it, but most are just walking around like it's any other normal day.
      One way you could possibly go about it is have a No Nudity Camp.Make it an official "thing", have some sort of entrance at the road and a rack of towels or sarongs or something available for visitors. It's one idea off the top of my head. Of course this depends on if you're camping alone or with a group. If it's a group, they would all need to be onboard with the No Nudity rule.
      Many of us have anxieties, traumas, hangups, things we're really uncomfortable with, triggered by, etc. We each have to figure out ways on our own to find a good balance between accepting the uncomfortable things that we can't change or avoid, and figuring out creative ways to avoid the things that can be avoided or changed or redirected.
