You have done an AMAZING job!!! Your gardens look gorgeous! Thank you for sharing them with us
So much variety of plants that somehow all look beautiful together! Love your stile! A new subscriber who is looking forward to all your new adventures in the garden!
new subscriber, loving it already...can't wait for the drip 101...please keep it going...❤️👍🏻👍🏻🌸🌱🌸🌱🌸🌱
You have a gorgeous gorgeous garden.
I love at last as well!!! Smells so good.
I want to copy your lavender hedge for my newly planted rose bed. Thanks for the idea.
This garden is so dreamy! Could you maybe do a video about how you grew your Strawberry Foxglove from seed? I would love to try! I also heard that those specifically are a perennial?! How cool!!
I had no idea this variety is perennial! I just looked into it and it seems it is. Foxglove can be difficult to germinate. I only had two out of probably 8 I tried to start and one didn't survive this past winter. This is its second season and it did not bloom last year. If you're interested, I would try direct sowing them this year in the garden soon to get them started or sow them on a tray or try a "winter sow" in a milk jug with drainage in part shade. If you could get them started now, they may bloom next year!
All the Blooms are so beautiful!! Keep up the amazing work!
Love the mosses by the fountain
Stunning garden! The front garden is taking off! Ahh, I love it!!
Love that fountain in the backyard. Where did you get it? I need something low to the ground so my granddaughter can’t topple it. So glad I found your channel.
It's from a local store that sells only fountains and concrete containers called Aquatic Garden Center. That specific fountain is by Henri and it's called the "Large Regal Tier", which is kind of funny, because it's not actually that large and just what I wanted to tuck into the area. It provides just enough water movement and noise for the entire back yard. If you have a local garden center that purchases from Henri, you may be able to get them to order it for you. It can also be ordered from Amazon and sent right to your door, although it looks like the price has increased since I purchased it earlier this year: amzn.to/2Vgr2tx
Ahhh I am familiar with Henri Studio fountains. You have good taste. Thanks for replying
I just found your channel because I am going to try to grow geraniums from seed this year and your information was very informative. I have a lot of family from Alabama. Your gardens are beautiful. I have to know what is the variegated grass/plant that lines the front border. Is it some type of liriope? Thank you for the inspiration!
Hey mathew ..seen you on tooth n refuge..im in wv and I can already tell that I'm going to love your channel
like~~~~~~~
I love when lavender is in front of roses .. double decker bloom show! I have never seen clematis standing by itself... some of my favs.. love David Austen roses ..Beautiful Garden...
Your gardens and yard are are beautifully landscaped!! I loved the tour, thank you so much. It was very inspiring!
I am also between Cincinnati and Dayton Ohio. Starting a flower farming business. Love your lot!
Love the garden layouts...would love to know the lavender variety you have as a hedge? I'm planning lining part of my front walkway and trying to pick the right variety
So glad Jess came to visit and did a video while there.I had to check u out after she showed part of your beautiful yard..u and Jess amas me at knowing the name of all your plants lol..I buy some but then I forget what they are after awhile.I wish I had a shade area..I love hostas but our small yard is mainly just sun and no trees in the yard really but the lot behind us has trees that just hang over our fence.lhow do u do anything else, like housework with all the upkeep u have to do in that yard.it’s a vision of perfection.it’s like no hair out of place.everything stays where it should.like the mulch and the grass.I’m hooked now..I love watching u and wish I had a list of the plants in your beds lol..I’m amazed how large your lot is also..just beautiful..my daughter lives in westchester..it’s beautiful there..
I put 8 supertunia bubblegums in a half barrel style pot with a purple fountain grass in the middle and no sign the fountain grass at all now. Bubblegums are crazy growers.
Visiting and subscribing to your channel at the suggestion of Roots and Refuge.
Hi Matthew! It’s Em! I just wanted to tell you that your garden looks beautiful and all of the edible things in it look so yummy! I really want to try those black berries when they are ready! :)
Great gardens. We have hungry deer who devour hosta , roses , there are a few natives they leave.
Breathtaking! Absolutely beautiful garden!
Beautiful! And I spy a hidden long dog statue 🤗
Your garden is beautiful!!
You have a beautiful garden.
Gorgeous! How do you keep everything so beautifully weed free?? Do you use any landscape fabric? If so do you find planting in landscape fabric as difficult as I do?!
There is currently no landscape fabric on my property except for in the mini-orchard. Landscape fabric is pretty bad as it doesn't allow mulch to break down appropriately and incorporate into the existing soil - and cheap landscape fabric is even worse because it doesn't work well at all. I will be adding some landscape fabric when the fence is installed under the fence and to the arborvitae hedge as that area will not be planted up and exclusively mulched. Dewitt Pro is the best landscape fabric out there and is what I have in my mini-orchard. As far as weeds, boy are there weeds. I just took the time to pull most of them before the garden tours. :)
hi I seen you on Roots & Refuge I'm from Coolville Ohio and I'm just wondering exactly where you are in Ohio
I'm between Cincinnati and Dayton.
Beautiful garden. How do you manage to keep the weeds at bay? I see heavy mulch which is awesome. Landscape fabric? But even then the dandelions are opportunists.
Also found you from Roots & Refuge. Your parody video was SPOT ON.
There are plenty of weeds! I just do a lot of hand pulling before any garden tour. 😂 I don’t use any landscape fabric in any area that I actually plant in the flower beds since I want perennials to spread and ground covers to take over. I do mulch extremely heavily. So heavy last year that I didn’t mulch at all this year in 95% of my beds, which was a weedy mistake. Haha
Wow, came over from Roots n Refuge, so glad I did! I'm from Alabama and I love my southern heritage! Now live in Ohio, south of Youngstown, and I cant wait to learn from you!
Hi Matthew! Your new fountain area is going to be so pretty. Everything is looking so good. You definitely have a green thumb. You mentioned a new dog and I'm hoping you will show us. I have the Black Pearl Heuchera and love it, too. I have mine in a pot. We had over a week of 100+ temps and it got burnt in the full sun and heat so I moved it to where it didn't get the sun all day and it seems to be doing better. I don't want to lose it. You mentioned having a Oso Easy Italian Ice Rose in a pot, but had to move it. May I ask why? I want to get two of them next year to put in pots on my decks. I could have them in full sun, or where they get afternoon sun, that's why I'm asking. Thank you so much for sharing!
I will probably introduce the dogs after we have our fence installed this fall. :) I removed the Italian Ice Roses because they didn’t survive very well in those containers. I’ve just potted them up back in their Proven Winners containers to let them recover some and will plant them out in fall elsewhere. They look pretty rough right now. There was a lot of dieback over winter in my zone in those containers. They are cast iron containers so not very insulating and I knew it was a risk when I planted them. Depending on your zone and in a bigger container I expect they would do fine.
Hey Matthew. Love your garden and LOVE that new fountain. Where did you get that please?
It's a Henri Studio fountain called the Large Regal Tier fountain. I purchased it from a local place that only sells fountains and containers. Your local garden center may be able to order it. It specific color of it is also available on Amazon. amzn.to/2U8D4Vt
what a absolutely beautiful garden. Picked you channel with the introduction from Jess. Any friend of hers is a friend of mine. Looking forward to more video. 🌼🌺
I'm here from R&R channel. Just saw the vlog and I love your gardens! New subscriber now!😍
Without you tube we’d never be able to see your outstanding property. It is absolutely beautiful! Thank you so much for sharing it with me. ❤️
It's beautiful ❤️
Beautiful garden dude!
Such Beautiful gardens! Enjoyed the video very much.
New subscriber, love your beautiful garden, it’s gorgeous🌸💐👏
Yup … from R&R… absolutely gorgeous gardens!
Just saw you on Jess’s and Sir you had me at yellow and orange roses! Here to stay :)
Where did u get ur plant tags? Can they b reused yearly?
Target super early in the season. Mine stay out year round.
Hi! Could you tell me what variety the heucheras are under your front railing? They are reddish and were next to your zinnia soil blocks in the video. Thanks!
Those are Proven Winners Mahogany Monster and I absolutely love them! They were just planted last fall and got massive this year. I’ve had other heucheras that just sit around and barely put on growth. Both those and the ones across from them (Hopscotch I believe is the name for the more orange one) were planted last fall.
@@TheSouthernersNorthernGarden Awesome! Thank you so much for the information and tour!
Thank you for your video. At time stamp 1:12, can you tell me what is the evergreen to the left of the Poet’s Wife; and how old it is. Thank you….
One more thing, please, what kind of lavender are you growing in your hedge. I will be starting a new garden in Zone 5B/6 and learning …
Emerald Green Arborvitae. They’re just over a year old. I got them from Costco, which I mention in some other tours. The lavender is hidcote. I have a whole pruning video on it early this Spring.
@@TheSouthernersNorthernGarden Thank you.
Your gardens are absolutely lovely. Even your spent blooms look good. So glad Jess sent us your way. Watching you gave me a sense of peace and tranquility that I welcome. I will be coming back often. One question - Have you done a video on growing in clay? I am in NC, and I have enough clay to make a potter happy! However, I am a Senior; and digging in it is too hard. I have to get someone to help me, which I prefer not to have to do. I would appreciate any tips you have regarding what to do with this clay beyond container planting.
I've mentioned my clay soil issues in a couple videos, but I have one coming up where I discussed how I remedied it in certain areas. The channel HortTube is also a good source. He's based in Carolina and deals with clay as well and has some good planting tips. My clay is that dark grey. He deals mostly with red clay.
Thank you. I look forward to your video. I am in Central NC, and we have BOTH red and gray clay. Both are nearly impossible for me. I will also check out the channel you recommended.
🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻
Gorgeous garden, enjoyed the video!
💖💫🌺
Wow
What is the size of your lot. I'm working with about 1/4 of an acre. Not much room and I have a lot of shade. Love your garden.
I only have about 1/3 of an acre. I dream of more land in the future, but I’m cramming as much as I can into this space as possible (within reason)! 😂
I came over from Roots and Refuge. Your garden is absolutely beautiful. I had a huge perennial garden in Kettering, Ohio when I was
young. At my age now I had to reduce the size of my garden. I am so envious of what you have now. I garden in pots now which are easier to tend. Thank you for sharing.
kettering is a beautiful location! I'm sure it was gorgeous!
Hello from Alabama! Enjoyed this video tour and am going to watch all your others! Beautiful yard.
My home state! Welcome!
You have amazing gardens!
❤️
Nice one enjoyed it stay connected
Your yard is absolutely beautiful!! Your hostas are so lovely! You must not have slugs or snails!😁
Thank you so much! I love all the varieties of hostas. I do put down an organic bait like Sluggo throughout the season to prevent some damage, but they can get a little damage by the end of the season.
Nice garden
Is that carex growing in your Japanese maple area? I’ve watched two garden tours and you never mention it. I love it!
It’s a variegated liriope. It’s one of the only perennials that was here when we moved in. It was in two large clumps and I divided it into a lot of tiny little plants and made that border.
@@TheSouthernersNorthernGarden thanks. I love it. I have a small clump I’ve had for years, but I need to move it, it was very small and I could only divide it into 2. It might grow better elsewhere. Lol.
Stunning 😊
Beautiful!
Really coming along! The front is beautiful!
Please reply to me on what type lavender is that by your driveway the hedge??? Thanks
It’s the variety Hidcote. I mention it and some other details in my lavender pruning video from late winter. I picked them up at Lowe’s a few years ago for $4 each.
