I worked Manchester city centre as a motorcycle mounted engineer for 3 years in the 90's on a BMW K1100LT, brought back happy memories, I was based bottom end of trinity way where it meets Deansgate, Long time gone now happy memories, great video 😎

I'm Canadian born but my dad was Clacton born a long time ago, and watching your commuting vid's I believe im feeling a kind of connection to the whole of your surroundings. Lane filtering is not allowed here in Toronto but sitting on my Busa one day in stopped traffic I gave it a go, and wow what a rush😁. I really like your commuting videos.

I've just bought a bmw c400gt fully loaded i wanted something practical and I'm loving it. Not got the power I used to but its fast enough and its just so easy and comfortable to ride

Just watched this, OMG you rode past my dentist, then my house lol. Well, not my house anymore, I moved in June 2021, I now live 10 miles from Caldwell Park now. I really really do not miss the Mancunian way or sitting in the car on the east lancs in winter. I do miss the Toby carvery off the 61 though. 🙏🏼
Haha, across from the Toby Carvery now is a 'Pine Wood' place, one of those chains that do roast dinners and they do a TAKE AWAY. I kid you not! As if you're 10 miles from Cadwell Park now! Thats amazingggg. I'd book all the track days lol
Here I am in regional Victoria, Australia & I whinge coz it take me under 10 min/7km/4 miles to get to & from work in a car each day! 🤣 But I certainly hate going to Melbourne & riding through their “normal” traffic!👿💪🏼😂 Nice little vid Kate! I was going to jump into one of these Kate after selling my F800GT, but got my eye on a 1200RS which i purchased. May still try the F900XR if they have a loaner !!
I ordered my tickets for Motorcycle Live yesterday, can't wait, get to hang out with one of my best mates I don't see enough of as he moved to Chester. We make a thing of it and grab a hotel so we can get on the beers for the show, gonna be epic :D
Having medium size hands, I have the same issue of not being able to reach the indicator with the clutch pulled in on my S1000R. I think they should move it to the right side and under the start switch.
These roads remind me of what I don’t miss about the area having been a student bar Salford many years back

I have the F900XR TE Kate used all year round bought it in September 2020 and have now put 18000 miles on it it’s a great bike I will be interested to see what you think of it 👍

@@gpzfan5272 I won’t lie at the beginning the clutch was snatchy but as the mileage increased it got smoother so much so it doesn’t do it now as for the quick shifter I only use it from third gear upwards and find it better snicking up the box if you keep the revs constant as for down shifting close the throttle to the stop as you change down it works far better I’ve also noticed that when the chain tension is out of tolerance then the gear change is far worse with and without using the quick shifter

Made me laugh that your thumb couldn't reach the indicator switch, makes me at only 5"7 feel big😀
Given how short you are you always seem to manage somehow with these big bikes, gives me hope for my future on motorbikes, even 125s now are stupidly tall, my 2018 cb125r is like 820mm can just about tip toe 😂😩(don’t have a bike anymore as it was stolen)
I also suffer from an inability to operate my indicators when on the clutch. The worse place it happens is normally on a roundabout. I ride a KTM 790 so it would appear it’s not just me or one bike. Never had this issue with my Yamaha.
That commute home is a free for all. LOL
You're not the only one who can't get your thumb to reach the indicator switch.......I have to semi lift my hand off the grip to activate the switch too! 🤣

Hi Kate, re the indicators I had a 2002 1150rt which had the old style indicator switch’s they were so so much easier! Left thumb for left, right thumb for right, i don’t know why bmw changed as like you said it can be difficult to reach the indicator switch. Stay safe Ste.
I loved the old style. Far more intuitive than the later style. I remember road testers back in the day complaining about them. I never understood their issues during found them much better than the current style

I visited this Dealer to look at an R9 Pure ,earlier this year. Traffic was awful.Put me off.Didn`t buy the bike.

im looking at a 2017 (17 plate) R1200GS TE, only thing it doesnt have is a top box. looks wise, its showroom, seems the owner rode it only on the sunny days in 2018/19 as its only got 1500 miles on the clock, and kept it in their living room the rest of the time. price is an absolute steal.
What should ring alarm bells about a 4 year old BMW, with 1500 miles on the clock, only 1 service book stamp and priced at a little over 10k?

Hey 🐊 , hearing your comment on not being able to reach the indicator switch made me wonder how Mike would cope reaching the switch, since he decided to try to stop a lawnmower with his finger!
Just done a 5 day das course on the f750gs and found the same with the clutch and indicators. Not very natural at all.

Why do you go that way home, it seems to be a long way around. I go right at the lights from Williams along by pass and through the town to the 602, onto the 60/61 and off where you get off. Just seems quicker, I may be wrong though. I’m not sure about the nec this year, coved is still a big thing, I’m still thinking about it at the moment. Mainly because I don’t want to pass it on to others if I was to catch it.
I do that occasionally but the traffic can be absolutely hideous...bus lane is much quicker although I never officially typed that 😅

Surprised you don't use a headset on the helmet to answer phone calls on the move.. I use a cheapish Senna unit, and it gives me great pleasure to answer the phone and say fuck off cos I am busy living the dream and riding my bike. !!!

Your bicycle lanes up as part of the sidewalks is an awesome idea! There's no such thing here. If a bicyclist decides to ride in traffic during rush hour, you get to be stuck behind them until u can get around them. 🤦 I ride my bicycle on the sidewalk.
Commuting up here in the Highlands is easy-peasy. Handlebars and mirrors are higher than the sheep’s heads so you can whang straight through them without any worries. And if you do come a cropper the woolies give you a nice soft landing. Couldnae be boathered wi’ all that car / van / wing-mirror, weavy-swervy cac (Gaelic for shit) 🐏🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑
Same sort of thing here in Aussie. Filter around the cattle, dodge the tumbleweeds and duck if the ‘roos are high enough. Riding in the bush is easy, but I reckon Manchester would kill me.
