Tom's voicings of Bank's chords are sublime. I teared up when Sarah started singing because they completely captured the true essence of this song with just guitar, voice, and flute (go listen to the original). This is so real (what I love about this channel), and is a thing of beauty. Also, I need to go find one of those Mellotron pedals.
@@martinrhodes1619 trespass selling England by the pound and trick of the tail are my favorite Genesis albums but I'm a bigger fan of the Peter Gabriel era overall.
Oh Man! I LOVE Genesis too!! Glad to see so many Lambs and Dukes in the comments. What a great cover of such a great tune. I was 9 years old... my best friend takes me in his basement where his hippy older brothers had all their rock and roll band gear... they were gone out partying whatever... He says "sit down (in the orange bean bag chair) and listen to this..." Then spins Dance On A Volcano! I've never recovered :)
“Bux and Buk”, Absolutely fabulous together. Sarah has the voice of an angel, and Tom’s touch and chord selection goes without saying. Simply beautiful.
Buk Bux, or what my creative mind is getting paid in lately. Late to the program, working through the curriculum as I find time, but I swear I won't need to ply the teacher with an apple at the end.Talk about life goals for a house full of music for the kids.
The level of concentration on the song here is astonishing, admirable, indeed. Agreement on parts, performance accuracy. And then the realization these folks are married to each other. Pretty unlikely. But then a marriage old enough to include kids old enough to have had real hurts themselves. Real traumatic history together! This is the stuff of art! Drama! Prog-rock is this. Rock on, dear ones.
Tom, your Sagitarian Bro here. You know man, God blessed me with my beautiful Princess. She’s my #1 fan, she encourages me, she’s my wife, and my best friend. This vid makes me happy for you as well. Take care Bro
TOM AND Sarah , that's fricken awesome. Used to listen to that in the Eighties. You nailed it . What a trip. Thanks .. Thanks very most . Tom Sings in key!!!
Oh my God, you two. This is absolutely fantastic. Hey Tom, I'm a good friend and (MPLS) bandmate from John Fields. He just turned me on to you today (you and I share a mutual love for Genesis) ...man, I'm glad I found this. Cheers from Berlin, Germany.
So awesome guys … was lucky enough to see Genesis back around 72/73 on tour at Oxford in the UK … I was still at school but man I loved this band … opened with ‘Watcher of the Skies’… will never forget it 😊
bin miss'n my fix of my favourite guitar type guy personality lately. What better way to to fill the void than to play this chestnut - yet again! What a voice !!! Man !!! Hot Damn we're having ham Sam!
Merci. 👍Gabriel, from Toulouse, France. Thank you for your work. Quelle douceur ! Et je découvre la complexité des harmonies dans ces accords inversés, La qualité de ce groupe Genesis, belles paroles. Belle voix. ❤️
I remember watching this when it was first shown and thinking how wonderful it was. And seeing it again today makes it even more special. If only I could play like that and accompany a voice like that, well that would be something!
Thanks to you both, this is my go to song for peace in this f'ed up world, re applied this as therapy for Covid news and then I found Tom thanks to Robert Baker, seems like god sent you , you are my new heroes.
Tommy my fingers hurt just watching you expertly reach those chords. Ive been playing 59 years and never learned more than to be able to play in first and second position and a few bar chords. I really have regrets not having done the hours of real rigorous, strategic practice that must be the only way to truly know the neck and use it so effortlessly. Kudos to you and also to Sarah for achieving excellence at what you do. I'm really grateful to both of you for giving of yourselves that we may be able to enjoy your music.
Dude, you're killing me. It was such a shocker to find out my new favorite guitarist and his talented, beautiful wife are prog fans! This is such a great tune and you did it justice. One of the best Genesis records ever, I think, and I'm a Gabriel-era fan, but good is good. If you ever need a drummer for the prog record you two really should make, I'm here...
Tom has easily become one of my main go to favs for guitar and I guess an inspiration now to try to achieve a level of playing at least close. His use of chords is amazing. Listening to Sarah, she has definitely become one of my most favorite singers. She just can bring out the emotion in me because sings with soooo much passion.
I'm slowly doing my homework, hence commenting on these old videos. I have a confession to make - I have never found myself able to bridge what feels like a gap and get into prog music like early Genesis. I guess I've always felt more like "Cleveland Tom", being the youngest kid by far in the family, having a way older brother and growing up on a diet of bar band music. All that said, I would buy an entire album of Tom and Sarah doing these absolutely incredible covers. You two are broadening my listening horizons and feeding me some soulful musical nutrients and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
"Holy crap that's good", my immediate response at the end. Damn that was good. Thank you for that. You realize that you made several thousand people a little happier if only for a moment. That's a good day.
You guys are killing me! First Ripples absolutely floored me. Now Sarah breaks out a flute and you two nail Mad Man Moon?!~ Did anyone else hear that timbre he was getting in the chorus? This man is a master of tone and touch. ;) Thank you both so much!! This is arguably the best Genesis offering ever. Wow.
I was literally just having a self lecture about how I've got all this gear and I don't make money off of it and it often seems like I'm the only one who really wants listen to it. So what's the reason I stay involved? Perhaps I should sell it all and get a bicycle? Then, as if you've been readin my mail, I get a Memorial Day bonus from you and Sarah. It's the second time I've been brought to tears by you and your wife singing Genesis, so I know it's no fluke. There it is. The real reason why. Nothing can so easily invoke all the emotions the way music does. You and your wife are the supreme examples of this and I will forever want to match you. Thanks for doing what you do.
Although I believe everyone has a right to their opinion... Every time I see a thumbs-down on one of these videos, I think "what rock did this cretin crawl out from under"? God bless you and Sarah! And thank you for enriching MY life!
Holy shit!!!!!! So good...thank thank thank you! That sound wow... the Mellotron pedal makes it sound so cool?....and of course perfect beautiful voice and flute
OMG so i have been digging your guitar lessonage and recommendations et al and knew you were a Genesis/Gabriel/Hackett fan then you and Sarah laid this one on me. I was floored at the beauty of this fantastic tribute to Mad Man Moon. Tom you gotta do a loop with the solo for Supernatural Anaesthetist !! Beautiful job you guys... The best part is that Sarah knew the words by heart to a super obscure Genesis tune!!!
Man. You Took me right back to being 12 years old and discovering this beautiful record for the first time. Thank you! Those chords, man! Sweet bejesus.
ya'll both such good performers that even via a cellphone recording through youtube, close your eyes and this sounds like a record. Perfect dynamic control, incredible
This made my day. No Pro Tools, no click track, no pitch correction, just two humans doing something heart felt for a few thousand strangers.

Buk has single-handedly made me re-evaluate how I feel about Genesis/Phil Collins
Same here. Total revision underway LOL.
ME TOO
Totally - I had this album when I was a teenage but haven’t listened to it for decades. Now I will again
Spot on. Me too.

Buk n' Bux or Buckin' Bucks would be a great name for their duo.

More talent in that garage than some Stadium shows I’ve witnessed. Much Love here!
WOW man she's great and brings out the best in you happyness is a real blessing that's why I watch

Again, just more amazing chording. Love it!! Tom Bukovac!!! And married to Sarah Buxton. Doesn't get any better. The best find on UA-cam.
