I have to make a beat for college out of a sample pack, he taught us using Koala, but I prefer Ableton, so this is super helpful! Thanks so much, my dude!
Thanks so much for breaking it down in this way. I found it very easy to follow along. Loved the way the beat turned out too that sampling was fire!!! Love the content!
@@carmenip6924 so sampler and simpler are both Ableton devices that you can manually pop up searching for them in the instruments tab. You can also drag an audio to the “Drop Audio Effects Here” section of a new midi track.
@@MicahWeston fr dude you’re doing gods work. Ive just started working with Ableton and Midi a serious amount. Im on your soulful beat making from scratch vid rn and its so cool to watch you cook thru. I cant wait to see where you go
This gonna be a silly question but how would I play the sample slice without a midi keyboard? The best one I got is my laptop’s computer lol and I have the Computer MIDI keyboard on but whenever I play something I don’t hear anything
@@SillyLilDawg Aight no worries. This can honestly be multiple things bro. Is your track “armed”? Also, you maybe hitting keys on your keyboard that aren’t correspondent to any sample chop in simpler. Let me know.
@@MicahWeston I was able to figure it out! It did need to be armed and set to an octave of C1 and the keyboard bindings go from A to J excluding R and I! Thanks
Can you explain a little more what you mean? If you have a sample in slice mode within Simpler you should be able to play the samples on your keyboard easily. Can you make sure that the track is “armed”?
🙏🏻🔥great video bro, 🙏🏻🔊 Bro do you have any videos on laying down good boom bap drum patterns, mine are stale? Either using drum one shots or chopping up a drum loop. Trying to get better with boom bap drum variations 🙏🏻Thanks in advance, any advise or leads will be greatly appreciated
Wassup! I actually did make a tutorial on how to process drumbreaks and chop them but maybe in the future I will make another one. Thanks for watching.
Wassup. I didn't make it too clear in the video but you want to make sure that your sample is warped first before you drag it into a Simpler or Drum Rack. This will enable your sample to stay in time when you change the tempo of the session!
Is there no way to cut out parts of the song you don't need from simpler slice mode (slice by beat) ? I hate that my next slice has to start where the last one finished. that's so dumb. Do I have to slice it out from an audio track? yo that's crazy.
Bro, I aint gone lie. It’s hard for me to really understand your question. Could you re-phrase it for me? But if I am understanding you correctly, that is how it goes when using the simpler device in Ableton. Keep in mind that there a few different ways to sample in Ableton. You can slice audio images arrangement view, you can drag sample chops into drum rack or simpler. All have different advantages!
@@MicahWeston I'm "simpling" a song and all I really want is a couple drums and cow bell thing in the beginning and the rest guitar stabs from 3 verses/solos but basically I see if I want to skip music/bars I have to use a entire "throw away" pad on my push 3 to cut out the part of the song that I'm never gunna use like Jimi Hendrix goofy singing. Wassup. Can you clarify what you mean by, “When I switch to splice.” Are referring to when you turn the splice desktop app on? Is it only giving you this detuning issue with splice samples? This honestly sounds like you may be having a computer system issue more than anything else. Have you tried uninstalling Ableton and reinstalling it yet? Sorry you’re going through this man.
@@MicahWeston the options on the left hand side of simpler. Classic, one-shot, and slice, just like you did in the video, when i switch between these options, i can use the first two options and are detuned on my launch pad automatically for some reason, and i have no audio coming from the slices.
@@MicahWeston if this makes it easier for you maybe this might help too. I’m running an older machine mikro 2 and I’m using just the launch pad feature.
