  • This 1989 advert was done in the style of Rod Lord's animation for the Hitchhiker's Guide TV series. I don't know who made it, but they got a pretty good Peter Jones impersonator to provide the voice.

    i used to work for CFX, one of the first computer animation companies based in soho, london, around 1985, i don't recal this but we did do a newspaper ad around that time, so this could well be my collegues work. i think i've met rod lord, i certainly know the name.

    I like how at 00:24, after writing "News, Business, Politics, Sports, Arts, Comment...", etc., they randomly wrote "Peterborough".

    Nice to see this set of computer graphics actually uses computer graphics in combination with stylised traditional animation.

    In fact, not random: "Peterborough" was the name of a long-running diary column in the paper.

    No it isn't THE Peter Jones, but the actor makes a quite good impression of him.
