NOTE: Not actually a 4K video. Up-scaled to 4K to reduce compression artifacts.
Inspired by Animusic. Created from scratch, using Blender, FL Studio, and MIDAS (Musical Instrument Digital Animation System), a custom-built MIDI animation engine coded by me.
I was originally working on this project in early 2019, but I didn't have the animation code to animate it the way I envisioned, and since I just started out with 3D Modelling, my modelling skills kept improving to the point where things would look out of place very quickly. (It even happened here, but I caught most of the problems and fixed them). I probably would have abandoned this project, but I got the itch to work on it again, and I'm not very good at giving up on projects sometimes.
Special thanks to Zach Goertzen for improving the song ~2 years ago when I first started out on this project.

Like the beginning of the song is like a vibe of the old Memories But when it stops and the things all came it's rarely goes away
This gives me such an nostalgic Animusic vibe. Super smooth animation, head bobbing music, and creative instruments too. Man I hope the Animusic team or at least someone that worked there sees this and would try to come back some time sooner. This is not even good, it's freaking awesome!
This is a culmination of many different Animusic videos and tells a tale, first somber, then joyous. I believe that the community of Animusic enjoyers was meant to create Animusic 3.
Wow, is this really outside of the Animusic company? I am speechless, this is amazing! I know that Animusic 3 has shrunken quite a bit, but this video is very convincing. Everything is just so smooth like the actual animations. Overall, I think Wayne needs you, everyone needs you and your friend. You are the type of person that can make this happen! :)

@Aqua Vlogs! I appreciate the kind words; I say baby project for a few reasons. I'm not nearly as skilled with 3D or music composition as I am in programming, Zach has a lot more experience in that department. I actually gave him my original composition (which was a basic bass line with a lead melody and drums) and he turned it into the song used here.
We've been pooling our talents into two very big projects; one of which, named "Ambient Glow", is in the rendering phase and will (probably) go live sometime in October. The animation on Ambient Glow is leaps and bounds better than Genesis.
The other project is a lot more in-development right now, so I can't say much; but it'll be announced what we're doing after we release Ambient Glow

How long have you been around (or watching Animusic/fanmade animations)? I started working on this in early 2019 and was uploading frequent test videos on another channel; entirely possible you saw it back then and it seeped into your dreams
@@MarchCain I mean, this is the first time I've seen this one (thanks to a kindly viewer who put a playlist in The Science Elf's video), but I've ABSOLUTELY had dreams about Animusics That Didn't Exist. There was a big pillar bass instrument right in the center of one of these dreams so 🤔

March, I think you need to talk to Wayne Lytle about possibly helping him out with Animusic 3. This is INCREDIBLE!!! It’s the closest thing I’ve ever seen to a real Animusic video, but made by someone _outside_ of Animusic LLC. You could very well be the person to bring Animusic back to life again, and get Animusic 3 back on track!

Wow, love the music and animation is amazing. How long did it take to do all the animation? X
It took on and off work (over the course of about 2-3 months) to complete the programming for the animation, and at the time my MIDI animation software was about a year old in development. Anything controlled by a note was procedural (except for the gong, which was hand animated, regrettably). MIDAS tells me 156,374 keyframes were created procedurally in 1 minute and 43 seconds.
Reminds me a bit of Fiber Bundles and Heavy Light

Very cool. The only little thing is the bells don't look right. They look like they are all the same size and too big to produce their tone.
Yeah, there's a lot of small nitpicks I have with Genesis that I would change now (especially with the animation). If I remember correctly the bells were modeled last, and I was in a bit of a rush to finish this project.
I'd suggest checking out Ambient Glow (if you haven't already), as the animation and models are far better

The likeliness of you seeing this comment is low, but if you are able to show us how we can get the MIDAS engine, that'd be really amazing. After animusic said they'd release their engine and then never did, I've desperately wanted a replacement that could do around the same thing.
Sorry, but MIDAS is closed source, and as of right now, I don't have plans to change that. Maintaining the software and documenting it for public use is currently too much of a hassle; combined with the fact I've spent four years on the R&D side, etc... Simply put, I don't want to worry about the public maintenance of the software, and I'd rather worry about programming it to be fit to Zach and I's workflow.
I will say that github.com/jamesa08/MIDIAnimator is currently the best open source music animation software right now. I don't have experience with it personally, but I'm friends with the person currently developing it and it's probably your best bet.
