It's so cool that you would edit these interviews back to back with two people telling the same story twice from two different angles. Very uncommon nowadays in any documentary - very refreshing to see. :)
Surprising and simply wonderful, this type of hyper-realistic models for the great Hollywood films, how I would have loved to be part of this team of professional scale modelers, congratulations friends 🤩👍🤗💎💎💎💎💎💎💎💎💎💎
Because of this video, I watched Solar Crisis. I had wondered how it was that I hadn't seen this movie before. Well the models are great, but the movie sucked. I still enjoyed it for what it was, but I'd had discovered why I hadn't seen it in the intervening 32 years.
They sent a model home with a guy hopped up on pain-killers, they're lucky it came back with Star Trek colors rather than Star Trek: The Animated Series colors (the guy in charge of color was partially color-blind which is why so much was pink instead of grey)

And a funny story at that
Incredible to see behind the scenes at the amazingly talented folks that make the magic in these movies come to life ❤️
Love the Syd Mead designs! Never heard of the movie... Yikes. 4.1 on IMDB.
I've never seen this film; fun episode!
Love all these vids.
Always a pleasure 🙏
The effects were beautiful in this film, I saw it again a year or two ago and, while it's not great, the film itself is decent enough.
so cool. just watched this movie not long ago. lots of effects work. and not a movie that is talked about enough.
Thanx for adding the names now.
Really neat about using the RC minis as camera ships for getting landscape footage.
I liked that movie a bit!the visuals were nice!
Fantastic effects and miniatures in that movie but it was mostly quite boring until that 2001ish thing in the end that was absolutely beautiful.

The best part of working for a company is arriving. Having donuts and coffee. And breaks of donuts and coffee 😂😛

Ron Gress was a master painter, and a great guy. He also had a fun sense of humor.
Someone should start a model museum.
There is a great one in Lyon, France! They have an amazing collection.
@@piercefilm I didn't know that...thanks!
Solar Babies... Solar Crisis... Solar Panels: The Movie?
Isn't this a repost?
Yes. Read the blurb above. I am upgrading all my older segments to HD and adding many new photos.
3:35 Dude, how about not bothering people when they're at home, genuinely sick and trying to recover
You obviously haven't worked in Hollywood...
Fun show to work on. Horrible film to watch.
You started at a magic time in the industry!
Yeah i was very lucky to be sure. Fond memories of a golden time and friend now gone.
I always enjoyed the ending…? 🤷♀️😂
Lot of good hard work and effort put into this terrible terrible movie.
That happens a lot in the film industry. But you hope the next one will be better! At least the model work is great.
