This game is one of the most incredible experiences ive ever had. Mathias is an inspiration for making a game mostly solo that puts AAA games made by hundreds of peeople with millions of dollars to shame
The Masked Man definitely had me baffled. I’d like to understand him more and the. The true kings. I never knew about the slayer of True Kings. They really thought of so many points of views in this story but some of those views do clash.
I just finished this game about an hour ago and had a lot of questions, so your video is perfect timing. This game really goes a lot into the lore and history and gives you an idea of how intense things are and how big the world is, for example the whole game is based in Valandis, just a small continent and not even the biggest super power in the world, so possibly the next game could take place hundreds of years later on another continent. The Harbringer is mentioned numerous times and the fact that the final boss was scared of it, shows how formidiable it is, the future squels will hopefully be preparing for its entry. I also want to know what happened to Timothy, I thought he got reincarnated as Robb at one point. Also what happened to Wyatt after the fight.
My guess is Timothy was just reabsorbed into the Maelstrom after being killed mid ceremony. As for Wyatt I think he was just straight up killed from my memory. But thanks for watching the video dude, I'm glad you found it at the right time :)
Great video. I didn't realize the severity of the fungus, so I learned something here! I really loved this game, and 100% completed it. I appreciate that not everything is explained and some of the lore is a mystery. It's not a new way to design a game's story, but it is one of the things that makes FromSoft's Souls games so special and I'm glad to see other modern games still doing it. Mystery is always good, to let our imaginations run wild with theories.
I really do like a good mystery too. And the thought of getting answers in a new game or DLC is always so exciting to think about. I'm happy to hear you learned something new!
11:23 Same initial thoughts but changed my mind after some thought. I don't think the cursed giving masked man is that charitable, helping little June without something in return. As you mentioned, we only saw the curse giving mask man during people's very desperate moment and always offers a pact.
this reply might be a little to late lol but I think June is supposed to accompany the bearer of the will. And I think the masked man has something to do also with the Will (maybe he is the first bearer of the will or something?), we see June as a lover of Gwayn who was then the bearer of the will and now a companion figure for Kylian, the present holder of the will. We can also see that June never really expressed contradiction or disapproval to Gwayn's actions or decisions throughout the game. This could mean that June is not with Gwayn or with any bearer of the will to guide them but of a different purpose.
Thanks for the video! I finished the game last night and had many questions too! I thought I was stupid or that I missed something, but it is good to know these are plot holes yet to be explored or expanded on. The most perplexing character to me is Glenn (or Van, or Bart, or whatever). I'm not sure what reincarnation does to people, but I can't imagine spending countless lifetimes looking for Lenne just to apologize to her. Imagine if Lenne still can't forgive him! What is he to do then? Surely he would've learned a lesson or two about forgiveness throughout his countless lives. Lol. Glenn is both wise and immature at times depending on the situation. When the situation demands it, he draws upon his echoes for guidance, but other times he just looks like a young guy who is lost... even towards the end game! Otherwise, I love the story. It is no Xenogears (in terms of story) but it is a gem in its own right. :)
Great video as I just finished the game and also have a lot of question and hope we get a second game maybe even with the true kings as party members fighting against the Harbinger or whoever. This was a great game and as a lover of these style games the creator did an amazing job. Awesome video too with the lore
This was an awesome video in the many unfinished storylines of this bast, beautiful game. I know lot of people didn't like the ending. I just love it, to know that our heroes still had challenges, that the world remained to be full of miseries. In my eyes, Chained Echoes may be the most mature and profound story we have seen in videogames for a long long time, and to not close it all in a perfect happily ever after kinda way is totally in sync with the tone the author set since the very beginning. If there is no second part, this remains to be a great ending. Still ... I hope we get to see a continuation of this masterpiece of a game
Pretty sure Glenn was never killed and surrendered his life willingly. Basically throwing his own soul into the maelstrom and leaving behind a soulless vessel for kylian to occupy.
Perpetua's mutation came to be because of Glenn's earlier Grimoir break, not some fungus. The books generally reference things on the other continents. And the sky armor working for the church is Gwayn, probably so he can keep an eye on them.
nope, Gwayn's sky armor is the one you buy in Kortara mountains... we are even given a name for the pilot of the church's seraph armor (the only one that we are not able to acquire in the game) and some background of this character... mainly that he/she is never seen without the sky armor
Something that I don’t get that I’m guessing I just missed something is - what’s that about a Phoenix in Nhysa? There’s a whole section where ghosts remember things about a Phoenix that they created, but it doesn’t go beyond that. Anything I missed about that?
I feel like this story has soo many cool ideas but can’t decide which ones it wants to fully develop and as a result it’s just a bunch of ideas. I still had my fun with this game but the story wasn’t well thought out apart from one really cool plot twist.
I love chained echoes story but I also hate it that it doesnt explore/explain the lore completely. For me the most satisfying thing in rpg is to learn the truth about its world
I get what you are saying about wanting all the answers right away. But series like Suikoden and TLOH are some of my favorite because not everything is solved in one game, and the answers are slowly unraveled with every new installment in the series :)
@@gamebreak6395 well, I'd be okay if it is explained in a sequel... as long as we know that there is a definite ending to that series. Not cancelled or milked 😅... that being said, I love suikoden too
Great video, I somehow totally missed that the girl at the end was Gwayn's lover. Should probably put a spoiler warning in the video's title rather than simply the description though, since the latter isn't usually the first thing people check out. And since there are endgame scenes right there at the start of the video. :P
Just finished it , wish it had an epilogue as so many what’s and where’s. I have a saved game marked clear that puts me at the last boss but I’ve lost any interest in saving for the 50k armour and forging ultimate weapons etc .
Appreciate the explanation. Cool overarching story and lore, but I did not find it coherent or compelling. There was a new conflict/mystery every 30 minutes, and nothing got resolved during the 20-some hours I played the game before uninstalling.

It's so hard to say at this point what is up with June. She's just one big ???
Hopefully it won't be 7 years until a DLC or sequel

btw it is glenn, not rob. and we see also kinda see the other 2 true kings: the moon and the rats in nhysa
Ah! I never connected the dots that those rats were "The Black Plague" very kewl
I always thought that the black octopus you fight as an optional boss was a true king
@@francovenica1531nope he’s Krakun, the brother of Krachan
Hey! The first world map of the games world! Like it!
Very rudimentary, but I always love seeing that kind of thing :)

So does Glen die during the last battle and Kylian takes his place to comfort the other characters? To not let them know he died? I was confused 🤔
Pretty sure Glenn was never killed and surrendered his life willingly.
Basically throwing his own soul into the maelstrom and leaving behind a soulless vessel for kylian to occupy.
I loved the game, the characters and music but its overall plot was all over the place.
Annnd I'm back because of the DLC, Ashes of Elrant

I thought the masked man would be a secret final boss but im dissapointed to never fought him.
bro thanks for this video
My pleasure bro!
@Game Break eilyden Chronicle got a February update,with a 7 second clip
So Glenn is from Jadar! And left because of the fungus! And Golgota was located on Jadar!

Kylian got his power from Robb huh?

Yes linda created an awesome world it can receive a sequel or a prequel too many things to explore.
I agree, I am hoping for more from him!
Question: The story about the fungus. Where did you find it? I'm going around looking for it.
It was in that village under the sea in the coastal area I think. On a bookshelf
Kylian was supposed to die, but Glenn switched with him, taking the Vaen also, I think.
What is the Platypus Gang and why do they matter?
My question is do we have to wait another 7 years for a potential sequel. I hope not.
I am still surprised it wasn’t nominated for anything at the game awards
You kept saying "Robb" when you meant "Glenn."
@Game Break no video of octopath 2 demo and Sea of stars?
Appreciate the explanation. Cool overarching story and lore, but I did not find it coherent or compelling. There was a new conflict/mystery every 30 minutes, and nothing got resolved during the 20-some hours I played the game before uninstalling.
I am still playing through this one so will have to skip the video for now ahaha
