Driving all that way was PRETTY STUPID......But OMG it was so much fun. Driving with VW enthusiasts, Epic Lunches and Dinners, hanging out at all the stops talking and meeting new people. People Join and leave at some of the stops so there are new people all the time from all over. Many different perspectives on life from many different places. All good and fun all the way down.....Absolutely the best event there is. It is a Must do on the bucket list.

I did the Cruise Across America Treffen in 2005, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Karmann Ghia. 7500 miles in 21 days in my 66 Ghia. Lots of fun and met a bunch of nice people. People were worried when gas was approaching $2.50 a gallon, but I only spent $30 a day on gas.

yea this was pretty expensive on fuel. 50 to fill the bus from low. 60 to fill it all the way. once a day though. except on the way up 3 times

Mike, it was a great hanging out with you during the 24th Annual Treffen Cruise from Mill Valley to Pacific Grove, CA. Too bad I had prior commitments, otherwise I would have continued to the Mexican border with you and the intrepid Treffen Gang in my red '69 Bay Window Westy. Thanks for putting together a great video documenting the adventure!

1967 Beetle: In 1974, because of gas rationing in California I installed a 14.5 gallon Bus, (Type ll) gas tank which fit perfectly behind the rear seat of my 67 Bug and covered it with a two-speaker, upholstered package tray. Also installed a Super-Beetle filler neck with grommet and locking gas cap. Got some very strange looks from people watching me pump gas into the rear of my Bug. On the underside, below rear tank, I installed an RV fuel crossover valve-solenoid with a rocker switch underneath the dash. When the front tank would run out, it took about four seconds to recover from the rear tank. Driving range was just over 800 miles. I removed the tank in 2006. ps Before the 67 Bug, I used to have a 1964 "Sundial" VW camper same color as the one in your video.

Hello Mike, please I know its out of topic but 48h ago I used 2k clear over metalic paint on my car. This clear should be after 24h rock solid. But I can make a scratch in it with my nail. I did light coats but only waited like 5mins between each. Worked outside 28C. What should i do?

Mike, Awesome video. What engine tranny combo you got in there to do 75 on the fwy. My 64 bus has a 1500 SP and can barely do 55. I live in Temecula and the 15 is a white knuckle experience with all the cars blasting by at 80 mph.

    2 things :
1 Get yourself a little mini gorrila grip tripod at BEST BUY ( or somewhere)
2 throw a Mexican blanket over your EBike so those dink thieves have less to think about when they randomly creep by your machine
