I can not describe how happy I am with my purchase. It is my best playing and sounding guitar by far. The sustain is out of this world and the setup and intonation was spot on right out of the box. It’s built flawlessly and mine is shockingly light, lighter than my strat, tele and les Paul special double cut. I cannot sing this guitars praises loud enough.
I just got a PINK one! Replaced the volume pots with the stock US PRS pots with their treble bleed, so now it sounds pretty much the same as the core. Highly recommend doing this if you pick one up.
Love my PRS S2 Singlecut 594 Mccarty in Faded Purple Black... Looks AMAZING and I cant wait to upgrade the pick ups. Without a doubt the best looking guitar I have EVER owned. Thank you PRS!
Great playing. I would have preferred hearing it in standard tuning vs drop d. The drop D trick is also prevalent in acoustic reviews. Most of what I play is in standard tuning. True - drop D makes the guitar sound so much fuller with the base just rolling, but I would have preferred a review the way most play it.
I just ordered mine in that color, Whale Blue, today. Should be here Wednesday. Won't ship until Monday. Thanks for the great videos. In the past two months I'ver purchased the SE Hollowbody Standard, SE Paul's Guitar and now this S2 McCarty 594. Pretty stoked!
Damn, that’s one nice looking and sounding guitar. Nothing beats a McCarty for vintage sound and modern playability. I think I’ll go play my 2010 McCarty right now.
PRS Guitars I’m getting this color right here, Whale Blue! Beautiful finish and shine along the contoured body. Love your craftsmanship fellas, die hard PRS player for life right here👊🏻
No locking tuners & G&B pickups for $1700, nah. The G & B pickups aren’t bad though. I just should expect more for that price. I have the Core 594, so I’m good. If I were buying, I’d find a used Core 594 for a few more bucks with all the bells & whistles.
I love the core McCarty, but I don't care to spend 4k on a guitar, even though I could work it out financially. At this price, it's a done deal - I've got one on order!
A comparison video between this and the thin line would be very cool. How much thinner is the thin line? How much does the weight differ between the two? Hopefully we’ll find more out from namm!
So does the release of these models signal a phasing out of 245's? I prefer the 24.59" of these, that was all that was left to make a Singlecut an option for players who want a direct replacement for a Gibson (which although theyre listed as 24.75", they're actually 24.6"
I was just saying the same thing not a week after they introduced the SE hollowbody. I would love to see this in an SE option, and I'm curious if we will see a singelcut variant for the s2. Would love to have seen the 58/15LT American variant pups, but oh well.
John Bach they are still making some in Korea,, I just bought a prs se rosewood and it’s made in Korea.. If you check the websites you can zoom in on the rear of guitar and see where it was made.. Sweetwater makes thus easy.. It seems the more expensive se models are Korea.
Sounds great. Are you willing to share your settings and signal chain? I'd love to have the neck pickup sound like that on my S2 594, but I can't get it even remotely close to what I heard in your video. For reference, I ran mine clean through two different amps, a Bassbreaker 15 and a Mesa Mark 5:25. Thanks.
I have a 5:25 express. great cleans. the high gain channels are worthless. maybe find a good fuzz pedal to get that fat sound. I don't think he is using a fuzz, but their cool
I see that PRS made the same ergonomic/logic error with the control layout of this model as Gibson ... I had to rearrange the pots on my ES-345 so they made more sense ... neck vol.@ lower right; neck tone @ upper right; bridge vol.@ lower left; bridge tone @ upper left.
I love my S2 Custom 24 and S2 semi hollow Custom 22. I'd really like to own the S2 McCarty 594 but it appears than they will not be available in solid colors per the PRS site (only the thinline model will be) . That's a shame. I guess I'll have to make do with my 24 and 22. Even though my 22 is dark cherry burst (bought it used) I am not a fan of all of the transparent finishes that PRS offers. Fender is still king of the hill in regard to guitar color choices.
I am really starting to lean on lower output pickups. There are so many tools to push them if you want. That glassy clean tone though… are these alnico 2?
These S2s are just ridiculously amazing...and for a fantastic price. Only question is, single-cut or double-cut. No, I can't afford both....I don't think....I mean, no....well....Hmmmm.....
PRS Guitars ive got a 594 currently in finish 3 pickup push pull activated for 3 volumes and 1 master tone with coil tap artist top copperhead burst. Metal pickup in the bridge and 58/15 in the neck and middle. Mccarty 594 in violet smoke burst Mccarty 594 in charcoal cherry. Henderson 3 pickup quilt in tortoise finish and just the start of the collection 😂 I can not wait to see the 3 pickup when it’s done
Ok. I just watched the singlecut S2 clip and I thought I wanted that, and I really do! Just not as much as I want this one. Hope these aren't to expensive in Australia....
While I was researching, PRS had confirmed that the S2 pickups are better quality than the SE pickups however they’re both made overseas. The S2, while built in USA, has all electronics from abroad.. Doesn’t make it bad… but buyers should know. It’s nowhere mentioned in their catalogue therefore one has to assume they prefer you don’t know.
Brian Mckenzie the original core model doesn’t have locking tuners either. There isn’t any need for them on a guitar without a vibrato. Either way, they just released SE locking tuners that might fit. I’m not 100% on that though.
@@jacoobyslaps Thanks for SE locking tuners tip! Will look at those. Anyway, was just wondering what would fit as an option. I completely understand locking is not required on a hard tail, but that is what I like (I do have some guitars without locking tuners). Even though I'm old, I'm not really a traditionalist or a stickler for vintage spec's. I do like to mod and etc, so having the ability to change or try different things is fun (well that is what StewMac says! LOL)! Hate to buy something and be limited and can't change. Have a rocking Saturday and thanks for the SE locking tuner tip!!! \w/
Hello Hyder, All of the S2 Series Guitars are actually made in our Maryland, USA shop. Some of the SE Series guitars are currently made in Indonesia, but we do not currently make an SE McCarty 594. They are not. This is the key difference. These are the "S" version of the 58/15 pickups. The LT version sells at 195$ each, used, and if you're lucky...
I’m buying it, no brainer purchase. Thank you for making this more affordable 594.
The question is, what was sacrificed to make it more affordable?
@@guitarandotherthings6090 pigeons
Yea! I’ll take 1800 instead of 4 thousand dollars any day
Tuners.....pick ups...
So nice to have a great player representing PRS, for these demos.
True Dat, plus an amp dialed in perfectly. But these are terrific guitars.

Is yours the thinline version ? I really need a light guitar.
I think you just made my year and it’s only January 7th!
Awe shucks... (blushing)
Now in August, we can say that this comment didn't age well.
But the guitar's still cool though.
Uttam Kumar not kidding!
And here is January 7th again!
Just when I was dead set on buying an SE hollowbody, you drop this.
i owned an se hollow. it was ok but the tone was too airy and it felt almost too light. i dont buy the hollow method for electric guitars, really.
Ordered mine from Sweetwater last night and it will be my first PRS guitar that I've ever touched after 25+ years of gassing for one
And it's awesome...
WOW - that sounds frickin' awesome. An S2 has moved to the top of my wish list.
I just got a PINK one! Replaced the volume pots with the stock US PRS pots with their treble bleed, so now it sounds pretty much the same as the core. Highly recommend doing this if you pick one up.
YES! I will be getting one of these in the burnt amber burst so please start pumping these out ASAP!
Nice choice!
Love my PRS S2 Singlecut 594 Mccarty in Faded Purple Black... Looks AMAZING and I cant wait to upgrade the pick ups. Without a doubt the best looking guitar I have EVER owned. Thank you PRS!
I have been waiting SO long for this!!
The wait is over!
Maaaan, that axe sounds good. Good pickin' too my brother.
Loved the playing in the beginning !
I'm frickin loving the sound of these McCarty 594s

That blue looks just awesome
Love it. I've missed my WL 594 since I had to sell it. I will get one of these as soon as finances allow. :) Thanks PRS
Great playing as always Bryan!
Glad PRS now offers S2s with Pattern thin necks. Love the S2 line and pattern thin neck profile. That’s a beautiful instrument.
I’m holding out for a Semi-Hollow version. If ya’ll do that, I’ll be buying one, no question
drdoom8793 yes! Same.
Hollowbody without a wide fat neck for me
I’d be all over a semi hollow version too🤞🏻
*What a beautiful guitar sound!!*
Superb PRS guitar and it's really royal
Beautiful guitar, sounds great!
Couldnt pull the trigger on a 594 and something was just missing about the S2...it was this.
Ive probably watched this video 10×😎☠🏁
Just ordered a whale blue one thanks to this video. Was on the fence but this pushed me over it. 😂
Love my S2 Mccarty 594 single cut
I just ordered one in blue smoke burst. It's on backorder and should be here in July. Worth the wait.
Got one back in May on back order, it should be here early to mid august. Can’t wait!!😀😁
What a beautiful guitar. 😱🤩🤩🤩
its so beautiful
I just dont understand why you guys would get rid of the locking tuners. 😕
"Vintage" - I wish that locking tuners were at least an option.
This is so. fucking. stupid. Does anyone that uses locking tuners think "Ya know, I wish changing strings sucked again".
It's a mccarty thing, they all have vintage tuners. I would actually buy a set for my starla
I hear it's for mostly quick restringing
Done, sold. Pre-ordering this thing right here👊🏻
Right on! What color are going getting, Rodrigo?
PRS Guitars I’m getting this color right here, Whale Blue! Beautiful finish and shine along the contoured body. Love your craftsmanship fellas, die hard PRS player for life right here👊🏻
I would but I just got the 35th SE C24, it’s so great!
Very cool addition to the S2 line, I'd rather have one of these than a Les Paul Studio forsure
These sound amazing, and that whale blue is gorgeous. Really excited for these to come to the S2 line.
Thanks for the love, Isaac! We are pretty excited for this release also.
I want that exact guitar! It's a perfect workhorse!
I have 3 Fenders, 1 Gibson, and my next guitar will be a PRS without a doubt, I expect sooner than later
Wow. Neat groove to jam over.
I want one, but I also feel like they'll make a satin one and I'd like to hold out for that
You and me both, buddy.
Agree, satin neck has to be an option
The pickups sound muddy?
I love my S2 594
Mr. Paul Reed Smith makes my guitar (budget) gently weep. Now I patiently wait for my local music store to (hopefully) carry this model.
A game changer ❤❤❤
already ordered mine from Sweetwater in vintage white
Why not put flame maple veneers on the s2.would sure help the looks.
I can’t wait to own this

Oh man, just bought a new guitar in December and you bring this out! :)
Prs s2 mccarty fantastic electro guitar
what is the Mccarty Thinline? doesn't say anything about semi hollow but thinline implies that
Love it
One of these or a Silver sky for vintage sounding modern guitars.
Is this Maple "Top" really a decent thickness or is it all for show and not Tone like an Epiphone Les Paul ?

Does it have the same frets height and neck materials exactly like the core line?
Does anyone know what amp he’s playing in this demo? Please and thank you!
Are these 85/15s pickups the same as what's in some of the SE guitars?
These are 58/15 "S" pickups. These same pickups that are in the S2 Standard 24, S2 Standard 22, SE Hollowbody Standard, and the SE Hollowbody II.
Another 2 amazing SE models, the hollowbodys. The SE has loads of really good guitars that cover all styles of music.

With the new SEs coming out with added features (nice carved tops and aesthetics..), what additional value is there in a S2?
Better hardware? Better woods?
@@MrPhotonjockey same Korean hardware ... Woods questionable... Can still a difference between a a core and S2... Less so between a S2 and SE.
