- This was one of the first 2UZ swapped 80 series landcruisers done by SLEE off-road. This thing is insane and just shows that these trucks should've came with this engine. If you have any questions on build please let me know! We have a big trip coming up to Colorado so please subscribe to follow along with us!
Love it! It’s always perplexed me that you don’t see more 2UZ-FE swaps- why go LS swap when there’s a perfectly good Toyota option!
Exactly! Except I've heard it's far more complex
Cheaper to put in a Chevy v8.
thats excellent, its the 80 with the engine option we all want.
Yes, either that or a turbo'd 1FZ
I have a 2UZ swapped 1fz-fe done by Slee 10 years ago and it has run flawlessly ! The quality of the conversion is top and the truck is very balanced. Not a drag racer but now i can pass cars driving uphill. It has a 1999 2Uz and transmission from a 100 series, not the VV-ti more modern version of the engine but because is more simple is more reliable. Very happy with the conversion
Exact same setup we have, amazing truck
That’s fantastic. And I’m positive you e improved the fuel economy.
Literally my dream setup, cool ride.
D light on. Fuel tank of fuel. Great oil pressure on gauge. All rare sights on the 80.
Yes it's a beast.
I love your setup! Lots of good things come out of Mississippi.
Yes it does!
Awesome truck! love the 4.7 in it. the transmission from the 98 and 99 were the same transmissions on the 96 97 I think. have a 97 and would love you do this, but I am sure it is a bit more complicated than it seems and not to mention the cost, but I'm sure it is well worth it.
Cost is the big factor
Damn..lucky young buck
Too bad it's my moms
I knew it I knew you could fit one in there I've been wanting to do the same setup
Ya it fits perfectly but Christo himself said he'd never do another one haha because of how much of a PITA it was
@@GarboOffroad dammm
Just put the slee rear bumper on my 80 series yes the swing outs do lock open
Great rear bumper
Great video
yikes. new dent on the tailgate once you put it down haha
Sick build!
Thanks so much man! It's a beast
How does Nickelback sound on the new stereo system?
Absolutely incredible it's all we listen to
What you do for the new axels toyta direct procurement?
Cool. Love my 1 FZ-fe. Great power downhill with a tail wind 😅. Actually my truck has decent power flat out, well maintained. Own a
4.7 Sequoia for comparison. Love em both!
Both great trucks!
Hi, i got a question so when doing this swap what do u need to fit the engine to the transmission.
Thanks
Is that the original paint or it got repainted. Jesus. It’s clean. Wish my 97 is in that condition. Going to do the ls swap and getting it repainted.
Its original paint, only hood was repainted.
That's an impressive 80. Where did you get the steering wheel?
Its stock, just had it recovered
Our Malinois are the least destructive dogs we've ever owned lol
Our Heelers are great in the car
She's very clean but the steering wheel is on the wrong side 😂 🇦🇺
Hahaha depends on where you live!
I like your steering wheel on the 80. Can I get the information on it. Thank you for sharing.
It's just a normal 80 series wheel! It's been recovered though.
@GarboOffroad are you sure... I believe that they are all gray or all tan.. leather mostly. That wheel would look great in my tan leather package 1995 FZJ80. Any way you can verify that and possibly send me the information. Thanks again. 👍🏾
My dad had it recovered, I can ask him who did it
Hmu when your out here in CO i'd love to check it out to see if it's a swap I'd wanna do in my built 80
Absolutely, let's meet up
Man that's sick! Did they keep the stock transmission in it when they did the swap. A lot of people use the LS and then swap for a 6+ speed transmission as well to get better MPG. When you heading out to CO?
Heading out there in 2 weeks!
Yes stock tranny!
is this an actually VVTi engine? I only ask cause I’ve seen non-vvti engine with the vvti manifold on Tundras and Sequoia for better airflow.
It's a non vvti, Im almost positive
What does this conversion run money wise?
I'm interested too
Slee said they will never do another one but somewhere between 25k-40k depending on parts and labor used. Lots of custom fab work required.
Do you mind sharing the 2UZ engine conversion details? I've got a 1997 LC80, and this is the only mod left to do on mine. Is it better to get an entire LC100 donor vehicle? Do you have an exhaustive parts list and instructions for the swap? Does your car also have the 5-speed auto tranny that has been originally mated with the 2UZ? Thanks a lot in advance.
We do not but slee off-road did the engine swap and I know there's some other shops attempting them like rocket city cruisers and they will have more info for you.
Use a transmission out of a 100 series. I'm collecting the parts to do the swap in my 80 series. Easier to do the pre VVTI engine swaps with the 4 speed auto due to immobilizer issues. You could look into swapping a newer 100 series drivetrain in but the electrical will be much more involved.
Mom has a clean rig! Any idea of what the OEM axle swap cost? Thanks.
Honestly the cost is all in how much you can get factory locked axles for, actually swapping axles is pretty straight forward
And you will need factory locker button and harness but really the main cost is the axles themselves, anywhere from 2k-5k depending on condition of them
@@GarboOffroad thanks for the info. Didn’t know if you used a donor rig or if you bought everything new from Toyota. Appreciate the reply.
Donor axles that had been completely redone
Would you share the cost of the engine swap?
Hahaha too much
Did you use the 2uz trans/transfer case? Or the stock ones?
It uses the stock one!
You need 100 series transmission, different bellhousing than the 1FZ.
What did that engine come out of ???
A 100 series cruiser
How much did the swap cost?
Who knows it was done before we got the truck but estimated at 30-40k based off time and parts needed
With enough time and money you can do anything. Enjoy getting lucky in life bud, haha.
Ya very true, I wish I was lucky. I'm a peasant I only have a 1FZ in my cruiser
Is it cali legal?
Honestly not sure, but I don't see why not. It's a 2UZ
What speakers were installed?
There's a type of pioneers that fit with rubber spacers, if you have any questions on the exact setup let me know. I've done it on a couple cruised now to keep stock speaker covers
If you have the exact model of speakers could you please share. Thanks
I'll do a video on what I have so people will know
I'll make a video on it because I'm getting a lot of questions about it
LED bulbs in the halogen headlight housings. Cringe!
Someone saying cringe is cringe
Major cringe
