The biggest pro for trading the Micro's is it significantly reduces the cost of learning the business of trading. After one year of trading I've lost $1,500 trading MES which would have been $15,000 on the ES.
bro i just spent the last 2hrs looking for a better explanation as im a forex trader looking to switch to futures & trying to see how yall calculate for contract size & how to risk according to contracts & ticks which is "lots" & pips in forex. This is the best video ive came across explaining the main part that was confusing me.
Another point is that if you are just starting or testing a strategy, you could also just try the proof of concept out by trading QQQ instead of NQ. I’m aware that you won’t get the tax advantage (in the US at least), but good place to start then later jump to the micros.
As an options day trader that usually risks 2% of a 10k account size per trade. I realized that I was paying 1.5 to almost 2% of my total account value, in just commissions alone per each month! To top it all off, being an options trader, I also had to deal with IV and time decay crushing my premiums. More often than not, my green trades should have been more green but weren’t because of time decay, exits at my entry price were still red trades due to time decay and than my losing trades were always larger than anticipated….thanks to time decay! I couldn’t be more grateful to be able to make the switch over to micro futures. Commissions will still be a thing but the amount of money I will save by avoiding premium depreciation will be absolute game changing. I will also finally be able to let my winners run into market close and than take profits after hours, rather than having to hold and hope for the best come market open. Futures also works better come tax season! Long story short options are super over rated.
Day trading with options is hard. I usually 'trade' with long term options which I use to hedge my other holdings, this year it was mainly puts and I was amazed how even those puts options that were in the 'money', the options still don't reward you much for the time value left and only result in marginal returns. It must be a result of the current volatility because 2022 was a much better year for puts.
I couldn’t agree more! Trading puts in 2023 was brutal. 2022 was down trending market and vix was climbing. 2023 all vix seemed to ever do, was gap up over night to sell off during the day. Absolutely annihilating any value or chance at appreciation on my put trades day trades. I think options are great as a hedge, or even good if using “the wheel” strategy. But as far as day trading goes, I’m absolutely over it! There is just way to many moving parts and things that have to align for the position to actually show case why options are great haha. Only thing I will do moving forward options wise, is I will buy super cheap OTM contracts that I am willing to let run to zero for yolo trades like earnings etc. That’s the only time I think options has a true edge in the market. 500% returns can easily be achieved from trade risk that is Pennie’s on the dollar to a traders total account size. That’s about it though for me haha.
For example, a slowly declining price line is A) something that will reverse, since the down momentum is slowing down. Yep but, on a higher TF this is showing that the moment, in what ever direction, is "squeezing". And on this higher TF it says that the price is direction is down.
NQ is a proper beast (Stay Away for the first 2 years of trading) and I think ES is relatively close to the technical analysis so is easier for beginners. I found trading stocks easier than index futures. Whatever you do please don’t short TSLA. All the best!
I am based in the UK and would like to trade E-mini S&P 500 also Emini Nasdax 100, could you suggest a Broker which will allow me too trade these markets. I use trading View but, I am willing to use any platform to take my orders.
6:43 idk. Schwab says I need to have 17k available for every 1 ES contract. And only $1700 for every MES contract. I’m not sure why they need me to have this much.
Short on including target trading goals, skill level, precision of system, and propensity to not be accurate in trades by offsetting with small contracts leading to lazy gambling.
Any divergence in price between micros and full contracts?? I would hate to buy a gold micro at 1770 while the full contract is 1768 at the exact same moment.... anyone seen this?

charts and indicators just show past time history and what is happening now in market but they are useless for trade because you need to make money in future.in fact there is no technically technics you just and just must feel market and use fundamental techniques for trading feel the market because its a human live and it’s breathing thats all my friends
I have lost $50k trading mnq or es futures this year they are extremely difficult to trade in this volatile market ,and I advise that they are avoided all together

Don't forget about micro Russell 2k which is M2K
Micro is a great step up from Paper.
I stopped practicing w/ paper trades. If I want to try a wider SL or test a new method I use micros.

Take a position on MNQ with 1 or 2 micro long or short leave it for whole day ...good chances are that you make some profit
What do you think of nanos?
So we can trade futures in the UK?

Does e-mini s&p500 futures have market makers?
Interesting... I will have to look onto micros.
Very interesting. Thank you for sharing your thoughts....I was wondering about wether I should trade micro instead of mini
2020 micro
