I'm in zone 6 i have the same green house I actually got mylar emergency "blankets" and lined the sides and taped them in and got a small heater and put a thermometer in and it's holding the heat in really well! I didn't line the top at all and I just lined the floor with a tarp. At 28 degrees it was staying upper 60s to mid 70s and that was on low settings I was actually surprised at how well the heat is holding up🤣

So having Mylar on it means you take plants out each day and if cloudy or too windy for plants you leave them in, or etc go day you also take down the Mylar?
It sounded interesting and effective if you take them out each day but that greenhouse must cook in daytime.

I only cover the sides with mylar leave the top uncovered and the front where the door is uncovered so sun is still able to shine in you could probably line the sides with mylar then do the top and front in bubble wrap if Temps were super cold

WOW! I'm so glad I saw this! I have a 4-tier greenhouse that I could try this with. Thanks for showing the temps and progress!

I got the smaller version of this one. I use a smaller $10 heater from Walmart in mine and I have to use a timer or it gets too hot. I think you cod get away with a cheaper 200 watt heater and same some money on electric. You insulated it real well.. Thanks for the tips sir. I been having issues with the lining not fully reaching the bottom. I will listen and do as you told me to do to insulate mine better. 🙃😉

You may want to use heat mats if it gets super cold. keeping the roots warm is important too!

If the heater is keeping greenhouse at needed min temp with all done, a heat mat is not needed. The area with plants and soil will meet that temp. He also lives in an area where outdoor night temps through early summer and in early fall are in 40’s. Plants do fine.

Was always told never to connect a heater to an extension cord. They need to be connected straight into a wall plug.

With items taking up space, and plant lights, if you use them, plus what you have done I’d think it would keep everything warmer.

One more thing is water in dark colored containers. It will absorb heat during the day and release heat at night which will help

With your blanket on roof and bubble wrap you will need to take all plants out each day
As for heater can you have a maintained heat with it? You need a heat sensor at lower half hanging from middle of tent. 50 at night is fine at mid point
Your upper 40’s are not a big deal. Your outside temps are that anyways at night in early summer and early fall right?

I will probably take the blankets off soon. I started the plants indoors so I'm trying to harden them off. But I do open the door during the day so it doesn't get too hot inside.
