I have been scouring the Dark corners of the interconnected web nets trying to find help with a loose, organic, all-flower bouquet. This was a lifesaver. Thank you!
Thank you for your kind comment! You really have to keep at it and tweak it sometimes. Sometimes I can whip together a bouquet in 10 minutes without much adjustment (never happens on camera, lolll), and sometimes I'll have to fussy with the flowers for 20-30 minutes. I've just learned that slight adjustments are where the magic is and it doesn't pay to get in a tizzy and start over. I'm glad I can help you in any way! XXXX, Amy
Thank you, this was really useful. Love the funny comments throughout! I'll def practice breaking down the globby hydrangea and spiky delphinium. Go mini-carnations!
super fun to watch, I have been doing the whole shaking thing to loosen things up for a while and never really watched someone else describe it ... it works! whoo hoo nice work it's beautiful
Same! I didn't start doing that until I had been fussing with trying to make more airy bouquets and now I use that technique all the time because they all start to fall in on themselves. Thank you for the kind word! XXXX, Amy
Thank you for the kind comment! Yes, sometimes I have to remove some lower buds, but not as many because Snaps are a bit shorter....so I feel less guilty stripping them down. XXXX, Amy
Can you please make a video of making centerpieces in vases for events like baby showers or bridal showers? You're so good and I love the help and tips you provide! I'm an beginner but i want to be sure that i'm balancing my arrangements in a natural/organic way for vase centerpieces without foam etc.
Thank you! We don't have an exact recipe as each bouquet will end up being a little different but here's a guide to get you started: 2-3 hydrangeas 4-6 blue delphinium 3-5 stems tweedia 2-3 white stock 2-3 white spray rose 2-3 blush carnations 3-4 white cushion flower 4-5 peach butterfly ranunc 3-4 peach ranunc 3-4 peach mini carn 3-4 quicksand roses sprigs of variegated pitt or another variegated greenery
Thank you, Angie! Yes, I typically have to wire over 50% of them. Basically, their heads are often too heavy and large for the stem so they will curve and bend under their own weight. Here's a video on how to do this: ua-cam.com/video/2OtUIijJVNk/v-deo.html
@@FlowerMoxie thank you! I will be needing to wire some in a few weeks for my nieces bouquet. I’m sure I can find a video out there somewhere on how to do it properly. The hook method through the center of the blossom? I worked in a flower shop in the 80s so I completely relate to all of your cascade comments🤪🤪I love how things have changed.
@@capricia906 Did you see my video on how I wire it listed above?? Sometimes if the stem is too knobby, then I will stab its head and then wrap the wire down the stem. That only works if the stem won't be seen. Some florists go through the head, but I've tried countless times and never hit the stem.
@@capricia906 You're going to do great! We having a monthly DIY Challenge where you can win $1k of free flowers if you win. This past month was to make a bout, and we're announcing the new challenge on July 1st. You can check it out here: flowermoxie.com/pages/diy-flower-challenge
So pretty! I love all that blue with the peachy tones. What kind of vase do you use to keep hydrated during storage and/or transport? I often find that my bouquets, which I created in an airy style get so tight and compact after transporting in a vase.
Thank you so much, Melissa! I typically buy a 6x6 round or square vase at the Dollar Store or Hob Lob to transport my Bridal Bouquets in. I feel I always need something way wider than the typical cylinder vase I store the Bridesmaid bouquets in. Just think squatty and fatty for the bridal bouquets. 🤣
the advice I got for holding bouquets is "tips to bits" ... as in the tips of the stems touching your bits. Puts in in the right location every time lol
Did you have a recipe for this and did you have to go over on stems to fill in gaps etc? How do you go about pricing but also stopping when it "feels right"?
You should be able to save them! If removing petals from roses or delphinium, be sure to place the loose petals in a plastic bag and mist some water inside of it. Pop the bag in the fridge until the days of the wedding. The petals should hold up just fine!
We totally get it! You can wire or glue delphinium buds very easily into a bout or a corsage! Sometimes with really long stems you can cut the stem in half and then use that section in a bud vase or centerpiece.
I have a DIY request! I'm a bride on a budget and interested in re-using my bridesmaids bouquets as centerpieces. Is there a best way to design the bouquets to be easier to re-use and really add some WOW factor to the table while also looking good in bridal party pics? Thanks!
Hello Sasha! Here's my best advice: - Make them a little bit bigger than our recipes, maybe add a bit more greenery and some roses/carns - Buy 3-4'' vases for them. It seems small, but it will make the arrangement look bigger! - Make sure you cut the bouquets short to fit down into the vase so it doesn't look like a bouquet. You can test this out at home to make sure you cut'em right. - Have someone remind your girls to pop them in the vase....many times they forget so there are a lot of sad, empty vases on tables. lolllll Good luck, beautiful girl!!!! XOXOX
You may be able to do that! Running wire through the inside of the ranunculus stem hides the mechanics plus you can slightly bend the stem how you want and the wire will hold it in place!
When clients come in for a custom bouquet they always want hydrangeas, Japanese delphinium and these awkward flowers. I get nervous but always pull thru 😂 and they love it!!
They're very heavy drinkers. When we use them with foam, we make the hole in the foam for the hydrangea stem, remove it, and pop them in at the last minute!
*places one untrimmed hydrangea on top of linear delphiniums* "See how this can be weird?", she says, as she recreates a floral arrangement I have clumsily made multiple times in my home 🤣🤣🤣❤️❤️❤️❤️
You are correct, but some I don't sell because they are too fussy or too seasonal for my DIY customers. When I build packages/collections I have to reach for items I can pretty much get all year, and things that are a bit more hardy.
Hydrangea can be awkward to use in bouquets since it's so big! We like to use it as a base and feed other stems through it to hold our stems in place, but the result is that you don't see a lot of the hydrangea, but it does peek through! If you'd like the hydrangea to be more of a star in the bouquet, we would recommend using about 5-7 stems so that way they really show off and then feed in your other flowers!
@@FlowerMoxie thank you for replying. I have been learning from your videos and really appreciate what you have done here. I did not even expect anyone to reply, I was just expressing my confusion out loud. Thanks again.
I have! I LOVE the scent and texture. I've found they don't have the longest vase life, but would be great if you could source them locally for a wedding! XXXX
Those flowers are actually delphinium! When working with linear flowers like delphinium , stock and snapdragons, in a bouquet, since you'll only see the top of the flower. To keep the handle of the bouquet clean and neat, you end up stripping off the lower blooms.
