  • The official video for REVOLUTION by the John Butler Trio.
    From the album 'April Uprising'

    (lyrics copyright John Butler, 2010)
So tell me family now what do you think? Watch it all go in the great big sink. Watch how the scum it rises to the top. Don't you wonder when it's all gonna stop? Sometimes I wonder how we do sleep, serving the dodgy companies we keep. All kicking and scrounging for the very first place - dictionary definition of a rat race. Pay off those losers we elect to lead, stealing from the mouths that we're meant to feed. Enslaving the very clothes upon my back, I feel the sting but I hear no crack, no crack,
    I'm saying +
Running through the fire, running through the flame, running through the hatred, pushing through the blame, running through the hopelessness and shame, revolution already underway ++
[B]ig Heavy [P]irates man digging those holes, messing with something that they can't control. Trespassing lands where they don't belong, all I hear is screaming where there once were songs. I got my brothers they're fighting those wars, fighting over scraps and scraping their sores. Under a blanket of a fire and pride that can't keep us warm for the cold inside, inside,
    I'm saying +
So tell me when you think we're gonna rise? Wake from this slumber wipe the tears from our eyes? Yes from this nightmare yes I must now wake, open my fist my destiny I take! Good people sick and tired of being pushed around, we call them kings but I see no crown. Tell me when you think we'll just stand up? Saying enough is enough is enough, enough,
    I'm saying
++ Take back your feet, take back your hands, take back your words, take back your land. Take back your heart, take back your pride, don't got to run, don't got to hide.
    Revolution!

Bulgarian here. John has bulgarian origin through his ancestors. He went dighing and researching his family history and came to BG. His trip and the things he learned about the bulgarians and the April Uprising which happened in Bulgaria in 1876 served as the inspiration for the album. The bulgarian coat of arms since the medieval times has always incorporated lions. Suh was the flag for the April Uprising as well and such is the album cover as well as the model of letters for the album title who are made in the exact old bulgarian-cyrillic-like style. Stand vigilant and defend your rights and freedoms no matter who or how big or small you are! This is what makes the bulgarian 19th century and Englightment period so akeen to the US one or the one in the English-speak countries - the desire for freedom, justice and fairness. To each his own!

@dimsim34 Australia is giving away future resources to companies like Woodside which are majority owned by international investors. The resources they remove from Australia get shipped overseas before we see a fraction of the profits which Governments then waste in various ways. China is stockpiling resources because they know when the paper money system collapse, countries holding lots of cash and nothing but big holes in the ground will be easy to control. Australia is being cleaned out.

@dimsim34 Australia requires $1 billion dollars a DAY to simply stay above it's debt obligations so $1.8 billion isn't even 48 hours of operating this country. The resources aren't going anywhere, they shouldn't be given away to international money when we're entering a currency crisis that's going to make paper money worthless and resources king. We should be taking time to remove these resources with care to all concerned, charging a lot more for them &/or keeping them for future planning

I need to remind myself to watch this clip every day. It is pure art. It gives me goosebumps. But most importantly it reminds me to be positive, don't sweat the small stuff, love all of humankind no matter what their culture. John Butler and his music has always kept me grounded. This song gives us perspective. What a beautiful song.

The Pop-Culture marketing machine is strong, and John Butler has no interest in buying into the celebrity club; he has so much more sincerity than that. People don't always know why they like the music they are fed by the machine, but they know why they like John Butler Trio; because there is a real depth here, a real connection to humanity, a real musician, and real proof of greatness.

What is the actual difference has he or the majority of virtual and virtue signaling of fans made?
I ask as a person who is tired of song and Dance but wants The Revolution +!
Ps I am not talking about what the elites and capitalist controllers promote with sexual, racial and gender war and differences but the oppression and slavery of honest hard working families, women , men and thier children by the banksters and the associated offshoots.

Simply put: This is music in its purest form. John makes music the way it should be..."the way he hears it." Not what the record companies tell him, not because of what he looks like, not because of what trends might be "hot". His music comes from the soul...not some machine (autotune).

Since the release of April Uprising this song has been playing on my stereo almost constantly. I was sad to see that the radio release was chopped down removing some of the beautiful vibe. It's great to hear a song with such emotion in these current days. It's a shame to see people squabbling down in the comments below me. This is a song about discarding hatred and such bitterness. I must say though CD version much better than the radio version, sucks this had to be cut short.

So many in power making decisions based on what will KEEP them and whatever party they belong to in power. Meanwhile there are so many wrongs happening all at once in so many places that we DO have the power to fix, yet those in power ignore them because those voting blocks do not further thier selfish ends.
