I've always felt like Community was the spiritual successor to Arrested Development. Same sharp comedy, amazing ensemble, hugely referential with running gags, and quick humor mixed with subtle humor. The paintball episodes are still the greatest ever.

I will say that the first season can come off as kinda cliche and a little slow, but it gives a lot of necessary background info for the characters for season 2 and season 3 (some of the best seasons for a comedy show ever IMHO 😂) also you WILL fall in love with Troy and Abed's friendship, it's 100% guaranteed 😂
season 1-3 of Community is some of the best TV I've ever watched.The paintball episodes are amazing, as well as the blanket and pillows war. And the Dean is freaking genius.

It's rare that dudes with this kind of background get a shot. I'm so glad they got theirs. There are a crazy amount of talented people out there that don't have a Soderbergh to back them in the early days. So glad these guys got to make things.

I love that they bring Community cast members into their Marvel films. Danny Pudi in Winter Soldier, Jim Rash in Civil War, and Yvette Nicole Brown & Ken Jeong in Endgame. Also, Donald Glover was in Spiderman: Homecoming, which wasn’t directed by the Russos, but I imagine they helped connect him with the casting team.
Well Donald was a driving factor into Miles Morales (the comics) being created

Community was one of the first comic series I ever watched without a laugh track, and it spoiled me, tbh. We are lucky to have witnessed these two on the small and large screens.

I imagine it was good in that it's some of the best and richest high quality comedy you can see on television and bad in that it ruins other comedies which are sub par in comparison and littered through out tv so how do u go back to other comedies once you've had the best.

I’ve always found directors that were self taught to be so fascinating. The Russo’s, Kevin Smith, Tarantino, Robert Rodriguez. Learning the industry while working on every film/show is very admirable

@@shaggyrogers7986 I watched a lot of movies, some objectively way better than most in the MCU, but they are still really good (especially the ones directed by the Russos) and they are elevated by their inclusion in a cinematic universe imo, also they don't have to be the best objectively made movies to be my favourite.

Arrested Development is my favourite show ever made but community comes very close.
Community has better singular episodes (remedial chaos theory, paradigms of human memory, paintball episodes) but arrested development (only the first 3 seasons) has only amazing episodes. Even the best seasons of community have quite a few mediocre episodes.
I love them. I love Kevin Feige. I love Marvel Studios. I love Marvel Cinematic Universe. After watching GoT’s finale, I now really appreciate a great ending to a years-long saga that is Avengers: Endgame.
You act like the MCU didn't have crappy end-chapter movies before. Iron Man 3 and Thor Ragnarok were terrible endings to their franchises.

Marvel Movies In A Nutshell The third Iron Man and Thor films were not the end of their franchises - they were chapters in the MCU franchise. You may not like them but they are not the endings. As far as we know Thor’s story is not over and Tony’s ended in Endgame in a way that was satisfying and emotionally resonant for millions of people.
The jump in their career to Winter Soldier is so interesting to me. They are true visionaries and some of the best directors of our time

Interesting seeing how they approached the Community pilot like a John Hughes movie, the first episode is dedicated to him at the end.

I love Community and Winter Soldier was what really hooked me on the MCU and made Cap my favorite superhero. Love the Russo brothers for giving us great entertainment!
Steven Soderbergh is an underrated director and cinematographer but I love him most for enabling Nolan and Russos to get their big breaks
But Soderbergh is great in his own right too. Still think the world of him for Ocean's 11 and Erin Brockovich.

watching infinity war in theaters was one of the greatest experiences I've had. And finally 1 year later watching endgame, I felt like a young kid again

You know in Russo career they surrounded them self with really talented and powerful people in the business. Soderbergh, Charlie Kaufman. Dan Harmon, Kevin Feige, Noah Hawley and etc.
Arrested development and Community one of my all time favorite shows. Also these guys made tons of MCU movies. These two are cinematic geniuses.
These guys' love for cinema just seems very genuine and it shows. The Russos + Feige give heart to these gigantic superhero movies which would otherwise just be a bunch of colorful explosions. I think that's why MCU resonates with the (huge) audiences across the world.
All true, which is why I get pissed at people who seem to have made it their mission in life to downgrade MCU, both in terms of what they've done and will do.

Joe seems a lot more attached to Community than Anthony. He keeps referencing it and it just seems to have a special place in his heart. Anthony seems a lot more excited to talk about the avenger movies.
I remember admiring those paintball episodes of Community. They are still my favourite episodes of Community, and in the top ten of all time.
I know these guys are probably incredibly done with big budget movies but Disney please replace D&D with the Russos for the next Star Wars trilogy, please. Just ask them, if they say no that's understandable, but please ask.

I love that Marvel hired small indie directors with a good amount of comedic sensitivity to them. The Russos, Taika Waititi etc.
Community and Arrested Development are two of my most fav comedy shows ever.
I like how they look at each other when they speak for bother bond approval and agreement! Two geniuses, amazing duo.
Their marvel movies are the best of the whole MCU. Arguably some of the greatest movies ever made. Especially endgame and infinity war.

Imagine being Kevin Feige, Joss Whedon wants to quit the avengers job, you have no idea who could direct the next few phases, the you see community and say, "ayy that paint ball episode was good, what if it was Captain America." Like all they had was a mediocre Owen Wilson movie and some really good episodes of Arrested Development and Community. What a hail Mary for marvel that paid off so well
So if they're able to direct together that must mean they often agree on most things. I would never be able to make a movie with my brother.

I'm sure they argue a lot. They probably disagree on plenty of things, which makes them have to talk out their thoughts, and I'm guessing those arguments make each one of them realize if an idea is good or bad. I think that's probably why they're such good directors.

I literally started watching arrested development a couple days after i saw endgame and when I saw the credits for the Russo’s in one of the episodes my mind was blown

The genius of Marvel and Kevin is their *trust* of their casting. The Russo brothers literally had *never filmed an action movie before* but Kevin liked their creative vision and trusted them. He didn't care only about their accolades or only about their prestige, just if they'd do the best job. These guys, believe it or not, are relative rookies compared to the likes of Steven Spielberg or James Cameron or etc. They've filmed less than 10 movies. And yet, they are currently the directors of the *biggest grossing film of all time* .
