ANOTHER smart move of the Vegas org to make inroads in Phoenix since the league was so inept there. Vegas should go a step further and play a couple pre-season games there as well. And IF they really had the stones, move their AHL team there. Utah should also play a some pre-season games in Phoenix as well.

@@doaftheloaf because you don't get new fans doubling up NHL and AHL teams in the same small market. Plus Vegas doesn't have a strong secondary market anymore now that Utah has a team. And Phoenix is very close and has flights to Vegas all day and is a major hub for getting anywhere else.
i'm a longtime rangers fan , we will be happy to trade DREARY to you for a bucket of pucks or a couple of broken sticks ! p.s. i've liked the sabres since before the R.P.M. line
Buffalo barely lost in most of the games, but that can be noteable that theyre just mentally fragile. Even when the Sabres are up 4-2, like in the past few games....it just you know they'll still lose.
so are the leafs, but they at least make the playoffs now. and spend to the cap. if there's an internal, lower cap in buffalo pegula is only crippling his own team unnecessarily.
As a Swede I hope Ullmark is setteling in and can perform on the level I think he can...if he ends the season with a 0.92 I would be really happy, but to be real he prob will end up with around .90 or just above that.
On the topic of the Phoenix hockey situation, I have heard online that ESPN considers Arizona to be the blackout territory for the Vegas Golden Nights, UHC, and the Colorado Avalanche. No Avalanche games are carried by local networks.
I'm in Tucson. Vegas and Utah are blacked out on ESPN. I've not noticed Colorado being blacked out. A local over the air/cable station will show Vegas and Utah games. But if they are both playing at the same time, we only get one, and it's usually Vegas. It's like adding insult to injury. They took our team, and now we can't even watch the team play. I've been a season ticket holder for the Tucson Roadrunners since 2016, but this is the last year.
This is a question I just never knew: can a player be traded/waived anytime during the season other than these "pauses"? Sometimes we hear "trade deadline", when does this come into play?
Guess the Sabres are just gonna wait it out and hope as their young players age up. They are the youngest team in the NHL and they have like 5 first or 2nd round draft picks in the AHL currently who are performing well. Patience is hard for a fanbase waiting for going on 14 years, but I guess were going to continue to wait...
if utah's 1/4 century team includes coyotes, let's dispense with this fiction that they're an expansion team. calling it that doesn't make it true, any more than a pregnant man or a married bachelor. it's a relocation in every matter of any substance. arizona's inactive status is not different in any way that matters than atlanta's or quebec's.
Pegula plans to move the team to Springfield to join the other unquenchable tire fire. 😕 I still feel that the team could be decent if they just had a couple of veterans to help when they lose a couple and suddenly doubt themselves. Guy's who can sit in the locker room and say "Been there, done that. Not going to do it again." 🤔
Seattle won’t be that interesting either. I’m trying to think of who would be on the team that isn’t already on the team. Maybe Soucey over Borgen, and maybe Jarnkrok over Kartye, but I don’t think the last forward or D man will be all that exciting.
Pegula stopped by the Sabre's to wish them Happy Holidays, and hand out candy canes, that's it. His sole focus now is the Buffalo Bills. Nothing will happen for the Sabre's, until the Bills are done. By then, it will be close to the trade deadline.
It did expand, Utah is a new team with no history as Arizona retains the history if they can start another Coyotes team there. Adding a new team is an expansion even if another team was lost at the same time, otherwise if the Yotes come back the league will expand and they'd be an "expansion" team with 28 years of history... I have no clue how Utah's involvement with the quarter century teams will work, I guess the NHL just doesn't want to leave them out but it's silly.
Sabres fans need to stop showing up to games. Absolutely insane how after 14 years of incompetence they keep making the same mistakes. Trading away a legit 2C for a 2nd pairing defenseman to play 3rd pair is definitely great asset management. Same can be said about the Montour trade for what a 5th, all after trading a 1st and an at-the-time good prospect for him? When the fans stop showing up, that's when Pegula will listen. Just kicking the can down the road will not fix anything. Sabres don't have a team built to win, they don't have a coach built to win, they don't have a GM built to win. Most "playoff contenders" who are bottom of the league would make at least one trade now. The Rangers aren't Cup contenders at all but at least they TRIED to fix things by trading out Trouba for next to nothing. Sabres' management clearly doesn't care about the way the team plays, as long as the fans of other teams continue to fill up 90% of the arena they're happy. With that being said, Sabres probably win against the Habs 8-2 tonight because of course.
Not going to see change in Buffalo if fans keep filling the seats. Want to see change? stop talking about and act. Too many loyal casuals, asking to eat a big sandwich with this current product.

This is a good move by Pegula. There's a lot of talent here, plenty of time, and if they continue to suck, you can start to make moves closer to the deadline.
a better move would be to move the team to an owner who gives a shit. talk is cheap, and so are the pegulas. they've lost 10 in a row. if they don't make a move soon, they've given up on the season.

Buffalo is a business team. No intention of playoffs in the future. Players go there, get angry and win the Cup somewhere else.
Sabres lead the league in players who got rings after leaving the organization.

Not sure if this is an unpopular opinion or not. But the Buffalo Sabers either need new ownership or need to be relocated.
Think about how loyal their fanbase is. They still go to games after ... an eon of failure. At least some of them do.
Retract the team and have three expansion teams.
