I shoot .8 Snipersling Black with 9.5mm Steel and find it works well when cut at 35mm tapered to 25mm over about 17cm long ..Hard hitting and more knockdown power than a 22 Bullet
I just received snipersling.7 green, super fast bands. I shoot 9.5 steel outdoor and clay indoors. I thought clay was extremely inaccurate until I put these new bands on. Now they fly so fast it’s spot on!
Great video as always Mark. It always amazes me how increasing latex thickness by such tiny amounts makes such a difference. I've been shooting 0.45 ALS for a while and when I jumped up to some Precise 0.6 I actually heard my shoulder and back muscles creak!!! Oh yeah, audio was spot on as well. Thanks buddy
Thanks man. It is surprising the difference. Draw is a major component for accuracy. I find it strange that so many people shoot heavier bands with light ammo like 8mm. I started out the same shooting .65 and 7 with 8mm steel and useing small tapers. When I tried out .5 my 8mm was going way faster with a lighter draw and way more accurate.
Thanks for the review! Looking forward to the 0.7 Yellow review. Their 0.5 and 0.6 yellows are really smooth and fast for their thickness. I might also get their 0.8 too. Gonna be some real speed 🔥
Snipersling black are some smokers. Fastest iv tested too. They are just a lil heavy for the style of shooting I do or I would shoot them more. .5 black gives me about 325fps but I shake to bad
Ya I think I got 327 but those bands were stretched to the max. I sure if I could turn green and pull these long draw I could reach 400fps. The black .5 I find a little heavy.
Awsome video, I been practicing with heavy heavy loop bands insane draw weight, I'm able to stay on target pretty consistently, then going back to flat bands lighter draw weight its effortlessly, heavier draw makes a better shooter ima
I see where you are coming from. And I agree to a point. I think someone starting out shouldn't start out with heavy bands but work up to heavy bands. I can see shooting crazy heavy bands 1 or 2 times a week as an exercise to build up draw strength. Which would give the shooter a more stable hold.
Cool video, i have a simpleshot beanflip arriving soon with the .7 bands, i also have a 30" draw good to know the speed the set up can generate. Thanks for the video.
@@ATOMark I've been loving the bean, I got the Scout X a few days after, I have the Barnett havoc Hunter and I found a generic Amazon pinch grip slingshot I haven't touched in a couple years (I commented on your one video about frame hits a couple years ago about it) the beanflip ocularis though I'm finding I like the best out of them all. Hi Mark. I just purchased some snipersling band roll and I'm not to impressed. I'm only getting fifty shots before breakage. Surely that's isn't right? Also the breakages are at the top end and not the tapered end.
@@ATOMark No rough spot, I checked it all over. I'm hoping it was just a manufacturing flaw just in that area of the roll. I'll let you know how I get on when I've made some more sets. Thanks Mark.
Oh ya , when im not testing 22-12 is my taper. I do all my tests with 24-12 because it's what I started with. I keep it going because it makes it easier to compare yhe different bands.
Damn good vid I'm pretty new with flatland slingshots and this whole time I've been shooting with .7 bands ima have to try thinner bands see how it works for me
I like the 9.5mm steel because you can get good passthroughs on rabbit and squirrel on body shots, and a shot to the skull will still kill it. 9.5mm ball bearing weighs 53.96gr and going at 300fps its pushing 10.79fpe.
Some people think thicker is faster with bands but if they're too thick there's too much friction and they'll actually be slower. Thicker bands are needed to move heavier ammo but you actually want the thinest that will efficiently move the bbs.
Yup exactly right. Thinner bands have faster retraction. There is a sweet spot for bands and ammo. Just takes a little experimenting to find the right one for you.
@ATOMark I bet someone has done the tests and has it all correlated somewhere. There's probably a sweet spot for widths & tapers as well but more for speed & band life, if the taper is too accute the bands won't last long at all.
Yes very true. I have done videos on speed vs longevity. Some people think they get max speed with max longevity...... I believe they made a mistake. In all my testing, and I have done a lot..... a real lot. Max speed equals short life. Long life equals slower speeds. Really it is all about the balance of active band length, tapers and ammo and the shooters expectations. It is pretty simple the more stress you put on your bands the less they will last. Once you find a setup you like that meets your expectations of performance and longevity stick with it.
@@ATOMark Have you tested tubes much? Would be interesting how to get the most out of them, I find they have good band life but can be quite hard to draw.
Hi Mark Good morning. God Bless. May I ask, what will be the best band thickness for a 7 mm steal and 8 mm steal for hunting. Because I am using a 1 mm thickness precise band with 7 mm steal and I am getting the shot but not the kill. As I don't like the prey getting away injured. I rather have them down to eat. Any advise and tests will be very much appreciated. I am always looking out for your videos and receiving fantastic reviews. Thanks in advance.
Good morning my friend. There are some people that hunt with 8mm steel but head shots are a must. 7mm steel I probably wouldn't try. The less weight the less energy you will have to drop your critter. For those size projectiles I would use .5, .55 or .6 maybe even .45 with some bands like bsb or snipersling. The lighter the projectile the more important speed is so I would reccomend snipersling black .5 they are extremely fast but don't last very long. You can get over 300fps with them if you tune your bands properly.
8:44 Hi, in my country many have used 8mm steel balls for hunting and knocked out small games without problems. For 8mm band setups shoud be 25-14 or 25-13 if you are using precise 0.65; 22-12 precise 0.75. Precise 1mm will work better with 11mm steel balls.
hi, I ordered the black snipersling bands for 8 days and for 2 days it tells me that the package is at the airport, how long did it take for you? Did your parcel also remain at the airport for a few days?
It all depends where you live. If it is at the air port here. Then customs is the problem. If it is there I don't know. If you have an issue with anything Min will take care of you. Don't worry. Just shoot him a message. Where did you order the bands from?
@Luigi Merola I really can't give you any insight on this one bro. I always buy my snipersling products from snipersling and a couple times from wasp. You will need to contact the supplier you bought from.
Yes the color does make a difference. Black is very fast but the draw is heavier and the longevity isn't great. The yellow is fast has a lighter draw and has decent life. I don't have any experience with the green .7. I do have the .4 and it performs great but I had longevity problems.
I just ordered some .5 ss black. I bet I'll like them. They're probably going to have a heavier draw than my usual .5 ss yellow. Those are some great speeds ,especially for short draw👌
i just tested snipersling black .7 with a 1,2 gramm projectile and a cut from 11mm to 9mm in short draw, i reached 330fps so maybe you don't even need to put such an extreme taper on to reach those speeds, but i don't have any 9,5 or 11mm steel to confirm ore deny
I know you are looking for a number but my answer to this is use the thickness you can shoot accurately with that matches your ammo. I would start with .7 with 9.5mm and .8mm minimum for 11mm steel.
@@ATOMark hi, I get the spheres from scunittetti and therefore sometimes I find spheres around 9 mm and other times also spheres of 11-13 mm so what thickness do you recommend?
No it wouldn't, and it wouldn't be able to move heavy ammo. I have done tests with straight cut and tapered cuts. Tapers always win. I think you really have to find the sweet spot for your size ammo. Personally I shoot .45 and .5 with 8mm steel. Certain bands handle 9.5 pretty well with well tuned bands but I haven't found a .5 band that can handle 11mm steel.
@ATO that doesn't seem right, though. .5mm latex cut wide can have the same amount of rubber in total as whatever cut you're using of .7mm. And from what we understand, thinner rubber retracts faster than thicker rubber.
@-_ Ellipsis _- you are right but it has its limits. That's why guys like Wayne Martin shoots .8 with a taper 25-20 for 11mm steel. I have done a video on how tapers affect speed with 3or 4 different tapers and 2 different size ammo. Results were interesting.
Insane 9.5mm speed . I've been shooting the .7mm yellow , they seem fast but the black looks way faster . Looking forward to a review of the yellow , be interesting to see comparison especially the difference in draw weight .
I can help you with this, I shoot pretty much exclusively snipersling yellow .5. The black is faster but with a heavier draw weight by far. Pound for pound the yellow shoots extremely fast for the draw weight and is much more fun to shoot.
Chucking steel makes a great point and I agree 100% . The .5 yellow and black are close to the same speed but yellow has a much lighter draw which makes for a more accurate setup. I shoot mostly snipersling yellow or gongchi white because of the lighter draw. I will try to get that video done soon.
I have to agree having a smoother lighter draw means you can practice more without fatigue . Been using the .85 Great White for 11mm steel for the same reason . At the end of the day accuracy tops power every time .

Great speed and power from snipersling. 07 but terrible band life .80 is better for longevity .much better band out there now catty shack red shot much better and gzk green 1mm cut at 25/20 11mmsteel and 10mm lead like lazers
These bands are maxed out at my draw length. I agree they are heavy. I prefer lighter bands but I have never reached any speeds close to this with any other brand.
How important is tapering the bands. There are a few world class shooters that don’t taper. I bought a frame from one of them and received several un tapered bands with it.
Really it is all personal choice but there are a few things to considder. Tapered bands 99% of the time break at the pouch which is good because it goes away from your face instead of towards you. 2 tapered bands tend to be faster. Besides that it is all personal preference. I just did a video on this very topic with speeds and draw weights.
24-12 taper with .7mm thick Snipersling black is an insanely heavy pull! Please don’t fall into the trap of recommending such thing for hunting! Shot placement is king and every hunter should be encouraged to hunt with the most accurate setup NOT the most powerful!
Agreed I reccomend that people hunt with the band they can most accurately shoot. Shot placement is king in every situation. When I do these band tests I am trying to show the potential speed of the bands. I am not reccomending people use the setup I am useing. Most likely these bands would be shooting at 270fps tapered at 20-12 for 9.5 mm steel and not maxed out. They would have a much lighter draw and be comfortable to shoot accurately and hunt with.
For me the sweet spot is 20x10 taper. 0.60 thickness and active length of 4.7 times the full draw length for a 3/8 (9mm) ball. All day shooting without problems and a good hunting setup for small game. Simpleshot black.
@@sherrygrewal1985 how about the band life for your 0.6 Simpleshot black? I find mine 0.6 ss black has a good band life if not maxed out but it only has about 4.5 extension ratio
It would be great to see you shoot a plastic bottle full of water to see if you can get it to exit. Water is very resistant and a little bit similar to ballistic jelly.
I shoot 8mm steelballs with theraband black in full butterfly and the speed on a warm day is average 426 fps, but sadly the bandsets dont last verry long (average around 30shots) Due to that i'm in search for a new latex which lasts little bit longer and shoots the same speeds as theraband black Does anyone know if snipersling black could reach the same speeds as theraband black on 8mm steelballs when i take 0.7 ore 0.8 and apply the same tapers ?
Snipersling black and yellow are both really fast elastic. If you tune them correctly. I'm sure you will reach the same speeds or faster. Snipersling .5 is the fastest bands I have tested with 8mm steel.
@@ATOMark thank you verry much🙏🤍 Usually it is told that thinner bands are faster then thicker bands, but i thaught about .7 ore .8, because of the recordset in our community The recordshot with 8mm steel and doublelayer theraband black in full butterfly was 507 fps, but the record was broken with 511fps 8mm steel with a single layer .9 latex (sadly this latex is no were to find anymore) this latex was called lilatex and it was purple, so i thaught maybe if i take .7 ore .8 snipersling black i will get similar results
@bwstsnserwtrng .7 snipersling black is the fastest bands I have ever tested with 9.5mm steel short draw. I think it was 315fps. The draw is heavy but I would imagine long draw you could reduce the draw weight with great speed.

Did you ever get round to testing the .7 yellow ?
No, not yet, but I will soon. It's hard to test bands over and over. It gets a little boring.
@@ATOMark yeah dude I bet it does. You always put out top quality content so all in your own time my man look forward to watching it when you get around to it 👍
Thanks for understanding. In the new year I will be doing test videos, reviews and some kind of outdoor video. That way it will keep things interesting.
Great speed and power from snipersling. 07 but terrible band life .80 is better for longevity .much better band out there now catty shack red shot much better and gzk green 1mm cut at 25/20 11mmsteel and 10mm lead like lazers
14 pounds is a little much I got a reading of just under 10 on my scale?
Edit I use .7 precise
These bands are maxed out at my draw length. I agree they are heavy. I prefer lighter bands but I have never reached any speeds close to this with any other brand.
What percentage elongation were you using?
They were maxed out to my draw length. If I remember, the max elongation was 6x.
Thank you! I bet you didn’t get many shots before the bands wore out!
@David Mitchell no under 100, I think. But to be fair all brands I have tested don't do well maxed out.
Can I order those bands somewheres already made up?
I think snipersling might have them.
Another great vid Mark . I shot 11mm mostly for hunting. Do your think the black .7 o..8 for 11mm steel im hunting setup short draw?
260 fps is really fast. In the end it comes down to the draw weight. Can you shoot that draw weight accurately?
What do they have for 1/2" lead?
I believe they go right up to 1mm.
@ATO Thank you very much. I just placed an order for every size that they have. You inspired me to experiment.
It would be great to see you shoot a plastic bottle full of water to see if you can get it to exit. Water is very resistant and a little bit similar to ballistic jelly.
What the life span like on these bands
When you max them out the life is pretty bad but when you make normal bands they are still really fast and get average band life.
Alright thanks mate
I shoot 8mm steelballs with theraband black in full butterfly and the speed on a warm day is average 426 fps, but sadly the bandsets dont last verry long (average around 30shots)
Due to that i'm in search for a new latex which lasts little bit longer and shoots the same speeds as theraband black
Does anyone know if snipersling black could reach the same speeds as theraband black on 8mm steelballs when i take 0.7 ore 0.8 and apply the same tapers ?
Snipersling black and yellow are both really fast elastic. If you tune them correctly. I'm sure you will reach the same speeds or faster. Snipersling .5 is the fastest bands I have tested with 8mm steel.
@@ATOMark thank you verry much🙏🤍
Usually it is told that thinner bands are faster then thicker bands, but i thaught about .7 ore .8, because of the recordset in our community
The recordshot with 8mm steel and doublelayer theraband black in full butterfly was 507 fps, but the record was broken with 511fps 8mm steel with a single layer .9 latex (sadly this latex is no were to find anymore) this latex was called lilatex and it was purple, so i thaught maybe if i take .7 ore .8 snipersling black i will get similar results
@bwstsnserwtrng .7 snipersling black is the fastest bands I have ever tested with 9.5mm steel short draw. I think it was 315fps. The draw is heavy but I would imagine long draw you could reduce the draw weight with great speed.
@@ATOMark yes, i saw it verry impressive , only due to your video about it, i have now a good option (thank you once more)
The drawwheight should be no problem it is not much different to the drawweight of doublelayer theraband black
I do like the speed of the black .5 but the band life is terrible, sometimes less than 50 shots
Really. I have never had that happen. But when I use amber belt I have problems.
Did you measure the elongation? If so, how much?
Thanks!
I did but I cant remember. It was like 6.5 range but I cant be certain anymore it was a while ago I shot this video. Sorry
Hi, today I was going to kill a few chickens from my chicken coop with a black 0.7 sniper band I saw that I made a hole under the head in the meat but it didn't give any sign of giving up and it didn't kill them, I fired at 2 meters
Shot placement is key my friend. You have to make head shots.
11mm steel theraband black 22mm to 11mm 3 bands per side cut to 290mm 1500mm draw 295fps german tolsten 😂😂😂
