    I love my Fury. It is a great around town or short cruise bike and it is drop dead gorgeous in my opinion. I hope they continue for a few more year with it... maybe a few small tweaks but basically the same bike. The styling is classic and timeless .. it is the Honda version of 60 year old custom chopper. CHOPPERS FOREVER

    The 5spd is killing this bike. I’ll buy one as soon as they drop a 6spd in it and kill the ABS breaks. Bike needs to be in the 100 Plus HP range as well. Don’t ever stop making this bike. It just needs the upgrades I mentioned.

      Have you actually ridden one before you make those comments? There is zero reason to have a 6th gear on this bike let alone 100HP. That's not what it's made for. Sounds like you're confusing it with a $23K Harley.

    • @SternDrive
      @SternDrive 5 місяців тому +1

      I agree. It needs a 6 speed, and if it had one, I would buy it right now. A six speed has a lower first gear for better launches, and less clutch burning, and it has a nice high top gear for fuel economy and engine loafing at highway speeds. 5 speeds are from the 1980s.

    I own a 2013 fury and purchased it new. I love it but I have made a number of changes to it. The most work I did was getting rid of the ridiculous rear fender. I love my bike and get a lot of compliments on it.
    Choppers will never die. My first bike was a chopper back in 1974.

      Heck yeah, always cool hearing about people that have owned them that long as it shows you really enjoy the bike! What rear fender did you end up going with or was it a one-off piece? It's amazing what fenders can do to change the whole look on it.

    I had a 2012 model, it was probably the best bike I've owned.l made the mistake of trading it in for a Ducati, only if you could go back in time, it would still be with me.

    I have always been a fan of the chopper look. Honda did a fantastic job in 2010, introducing the frame, rake and stretched fuel tank on the Fury, Sabre, Stateline and Interstate. I hope Honda will continue to offer some form of this stretched, sleek look for another decade.

    • @HondaProKevin

      I agree, hopefully they'll keep this setup around! It was the best looker of the bunch in my opinion and has aged incredibly well considering, it just needs a little love in a few spots to help it continue to survive over the next few years and hopefully thrive in the grand scheme of things.

    I had a 2010 Fury. I loved it. It was a fun bike to ride, and the custom cobra 2 into 1 exhaust it had sounded amazing. And against what most people would do, I made a 14 hour straight ride, only stopping for gas and to eat. The bike did surprisingly well, considering I would never recommend doing that. It's gonna be a hard sell getting this bike to move forward in sales. The chopper style bikes will never completely die, but it is a style that I believe is somewhat of a cult style, as almost every custom style is. The chopper scene like most comes in ebbs and flows. And right now the bobbers, and scramblers are really the rage. And even more is the adv market. The Fury is a chopper styled bike, and it's intention is to maintain as much simplicity as possible, with good lines. It's a great bike, and a good idea, but it is a bike aimed at a small demographic that tends to very picky in what it's followers choose. Most people consider Honda motorcycles for comfort and reliability... not for hotrod customization. And choppers will always be considered old school. Most bikers I know that ride Honda choppers are riding old custom built 750cc four cylinder chops on rigid frames. And the crowds looking for the best of both... old school esthetics and new school tech, usually go for clones such as big dogs. The Fury is somewhat of a niche bike in my opinion. It's a great motorcycle, one I'd definitely own again, but I don't see it's sales dramatically improving at any point. There are definitely some simple improvements that could definitely be a game changer for the bike itself, but I don't know that those improvements could move the needle on sales, especially considering most people can put those changes into effect with fairly minimal costs and effort. The lighting is a relatively simple and cost-effective change that can make a nice difference. The breathing and exhaust is a little more expensive, but definitely worth the price for the upgrade. And that's a change which should definitely be made by the owner, simply because there are so many custom options available. And lastly, the biggest change, which I do believe would be a major game changer, that could possibly make a bit of an impact is the fenders. The tank is super nice, but the fenders... especially the rear could really use some updating. Honda could definitely make some improvements there in my opinion. The Fury is a great bike, and I miss mine, but I don't see it's sales ever really drastically improving. I believe that it has potential for decent sales, but not great sales. I believe Honda sees that, and therefore they don't want to axe the bike, but they also don't want to put forth the resources to invest in any major updates as they don't see the value in it. And as for the color, I don't know why, but I really like it. Those are my thoughts. Thanks for the video.

    Part of that bike charm is it’s old school look and genre. Chopper like bikes still do appeal to somewhat older crowd and even some of the younger guys that have “old souls”. Personally I think Honda will axe the bike very soon which is why I’m going to grab one as soon as I can afford it. I do like the bright yellow scheme. A set of black studded bags would work very well with the look of that bike.

    I’m a tall guy and when it comes to bikes that fit my size, there’s really only 2 or 3 to choose from. This is the sexiest mass produced bike on the road IMO. I have the 2016 Blue model.
    Improvements? How about official Honda saddlebags and windshield options for people that like long rides. This bike is SURPRISINGLY comfortable for long rides. I wish the wind didn’t hit my chest so much and that I could travel with a tent and sleeping bag and such. Quick release options are a must because the styling probably looks best when putting around town without these options permanently affixed.
    How about a fuel gauge? I hate trying to make out what the digital numbers are on my trip meter. At a glance fuel gauge would be SO helpful.
    How about a 6 speed transmission? I think it’s a bit wound up to high with only 5 speeds at 80-85mph. There are a lot of 80mph zones here in Utah. I worry the motor is getting overly stressed.
    With all that said, however, I’ll probably still ALWAYS have a fury.

    Surprised that they still sell this model for 12 years so far. I like the canary yellow but I think a black frame would look better. I love the engine, it is like my VTX1300R, which I still own today for 16 years. If Honda would bring back the VTX1300, it would have fuel injection, also a six speed would be nice. It seems like the cruiser market is not that popular with the Japanese manufactures these days. It feels like that Adventure Bikes are the hot topic these days. Excellent video Kevin. Ride safe!

    • @HondaProKevin
      @HondaProKevin  2 роки тому +1

      I'm surprised as well but then again I try to remind myself that it's actually pretty common when it comes to Honda and not updating their cruisers for many many years. I think we just get spoiled by seeing a lot of other models updated pretty regularly and it's disappointing seeing these bikes kinda ending up like the red-headed step-child so-to-say lol. I can understand from the business side of things though and if that segment of the market isn't selling well, you need to put that money towards what is selling and that's adventure bikes etc right now. The whole cruiser hayday like when your VTX1300R was in production is long gone sadly and you've got one to hold on to for sure, those bikes are starting to increase in value now after hitting bottom a few years back. Great bikes and one of the best cruisers Honda has made to date!

      @@warlok9 Horsepower is only useful in the racetrack. It's a potential number. Potentially, one could get the highest horsepower from a bike, but truth is half if not even less of the total or max. number (the highest number is always advertised, too often suspiciously omitting the RPM regime at which it is generated) we use in daily riding. Horsepower is an overrated figure for normal use.

    As a long time rider, I see the Honda Fury has numerous possibilities too continue the custom look. Honda, I believe missed their mark by not providing more color options. The mag wheels need too be tossed or Polish/chrome them. Black paint doesn’t cut it. Return the color of the frame too gloss black or the color of the tin/plastic on the bike. Lower fork legs should be chromed or polished for a custom look. Thanks Honda for knocking off the blacked out look on the engine. The stock exhaust looks good, but they to would be replaced. Chrome the handle bars and upper controls. Other than that pretty nice low end custom.

    I love the furys and own a 2012 model..I was really hoping they'd up the power just a bit and put in a 6 speed transmission. Since 2021 I was going to trade mine in for a new .unfortunately last year they didn't buy it and this year they released only a yellow paint job ..Come on Honda a least give a option for black

      It's a shame, you'd think by now they would've shown it a little love with a tiny upgrade here and there to give loyal customers like you something to upgrade your old bike from. The next year or two is going to be interesting as it may not be around for much longer, if they don't do something to spark sales again.

I understand this is a cruiser for around town, and maybe a short hop on the highway for an exit or two… but it sure would be nice to have the option to travel a bit further at highway speeds and be more comfortable in doing so.

    what they should do is have 2 models the one in the video obviously being base model, but for upgraded model have it 6spd and bigger engine, no ABS or if your gonna buy it brand new have it as an option,tachometer,gas gauge,gear indicator,more color options,black frame and LED lights also if they could make the gas tank a bit bigger that would be nice. exhaust,handle bars,floorboards all that stuff doesn't matter people usually get the after market stuff anyways when it comes to that kind of thing. I love the design just needs to be beefed up some and for me it would be the perfect bike, still kinda is as i plan to get one, but if they could make those upgrades it would be the crem dela crem. I was considering a victory as well, but i thought if something goes wrong might be impossible to find a part that i would need to replace and knowing my luck that's exactly how that would go then id just be stuck with a dead horse

I was however a little disappointed that the 2022 model Fury is so similar in spec to my 10 year old bike and whereas my colour scheme is Pearl Blue frame and tank ,the yellow does not fill me with joy! I fail to understand why they dropped the vtx lineup but kept the fury 🤔

    • @HondaProKevin
      @HondaProKevin  2 роки тому +3

      In my opinion... It was a mistake replacing the VTX1300R / VTX1300T with the Stateline / Interstate and then swapping out the VTX1300C with the Sabre. Those VT1300 models had nothing over the VTX1300 models aside from fuel injection and the vast majority of people I talked with back then on the showroom floor when this transition happened, hated it. They all loved the older VTX lineup's styling over the VT models aside from the Fury as it was generally loved, even if people didn't want that style of bike they appreciated what it was and it was something different at the end of the day whereas the other models just seemed like a horrible copy / paste from the VTX and like they didn't really put much effort into it. It was evident that they made a mistake though as sales dropped BIG time and they had to keep throwing us dealers rebates at the time to try and help move them and shortly thereafter they all disappeared except for the Fury. Honda has a lot of homeruns but they also have some flops and make some mistakes in my opinion, ushering in those models to try and replace the legendary VTX1300 platform was one of their biggest mistakes from the last couple decades.

    • @thicctomato4977
      @thicctomato4977 2 роки тому +3

      @@HondaProKevin absolutely, the vtx was such an amazing bike that a lot of people could enjoy for such an amazing price. I've seen people start out on them as starter bikes and I've also seen experienced riders have them as a secondary or even primary bike. All Honda needed to do was switch the vtx1300 to fuel injection and it would still be selling like hotcakes today. I mean, the shadow 750 is a great bike and all, but the sound of that big single pin crank motor is just music to my ears. Hopefully Honda will take note to consumers and hopefully bring back the vtx lineup.

    Update the instrument panel. That thing is dated and granny-ish. I think all modern bikes should have a cruise control option. With the long lines of this bike, the fuel tank needs to be upped to 5 gallon capacity at a minimum. A cruiser should be able to cruise! Stylistically, have the fuel tank follow the lines of the upper frame and cover it to keep it hidden. Enclose the neck frame with a shroud to clean up the lines and tuck the ABS lines there as well. I totally agree with the LED headlight and blinkers upgrade is needed suggestion.
    Upgrade to a six speed transmission by changing the gear ratios 1-5 to improve short shifting acceleration and make six a comfy interstate overdrive gear.

      Sadly, Honda rarely lets information like that out on most models. Even as a dealer, finding that out on 99% of their models is next to impossible. If I was a betting man though, I'd wager that in the US there are less than 1,500 sold per year. A lot of dealers have gotten to where they don't normally stock them because of sales dipping and then you have some that will stock them and have custom paint thrown on them and modify it etc to try and help turn them.

    Needs a 6 speed transmission desperately! And the tank sucks, needs bigger. My bud has this bike and it sucks that we have to keep stopping for gas

    Please don't show any regret about the indicator lights on the new Dax being changed. The lights you show are the same as on my 2020 Monkey. They may look beautiful, but the lenses themselves are only stuck on. If one gets a tap, or a bungy on the carrier rubs it, it will fall off. You will never find it, and a replacement will cost £100 plus fitting.
    Please also comment on the number of gears on the 2023 Monkey ( Dax as well?) The 2020/21 125 power unit is a beautiful, smooth running, 'long stroke', motor with great economy. Mostly a bike of this type will be used for shortish, non competition, trips for which four gears is perfect. Five gears or more may be necessary on a short stroke, high revving motor to extract the best performance for competition. To introduce five gears on a Monkey, Dax, etc. is a backward step, taken by someone who seems not to understand how these bikes will be used by most buyers - most of the time. I will certainly not be updating to a 2023 model if it has more than four gears.

      Australia does some weird things when it comes to picking which bikes they want to import and sadly I don't have any real connections there so I'm just guessing... With that being said, I don't think you guys will be getting the Fury this year - sadly.
