I ride HD now, but I put 40k miles on a Shadow when I was younger and don't regret it a bit. I would even say that people shouldn't shy away from the 750 Shadow as a first or second bike (with crash bars, of course). They aren't heavy, and the engine doesn't make a dangerous amount of power for a new rider. I suggest it because I foresee people getting bored with a 300 or 500 Rebel after they get some experience, but the 750 Shadow will keep you interested for quite a long time.
I love my Honda Shadow. It’s cool to buy a bike that is essentially very unchanged (except for that rear disk) for a good 20 years or so. Such well built and well loved bikes
I love the green, and like others, agree that they need to update certain things (LEDs, bigger motor, etc.). And for God's sake...ABS should be standard on all bikes these days. Great review, Kevin; thanks for making the time to share your unvarnished guidance.
I'd love to hear their reasoning behind why ABS isn't an option on this bike when it's brother, the Aero has it. None of the reps know so it'd have to come from someone pretty high up, maybe one day I can have a pow wow with someone and get some answers to the million different questions I have that I haven't been able to get answers to over the years, even while I was working "with" Honda. Thanks for the kind words and support Peter, I really appreciate it...
@@HondaProKevin the Shadow Aero uses disk brakes. The Phantom's rear brake is 100% mechanical, which in a way is good, since your rear brakes will never fail due to a leak, but I think it makes it impossible to add ABS without changing the design. They would need to go disc brakes.
I would think, strictly from a business perspective, that going to "All ABS, All The Time" would be a no-brainer for Honda. There is definitely a cost associated with any option(s) offered by a manufacturer. Maintaining two of just about everything for certain models related to the braking system (design specs & documents, drawings, parts, manufacturing build documents & processes, etc.) almost certainly drives the price up to the point that they could put ABS on all of their bikes and actually save money across their entire lineup of bikes. And having ABS as the only option is very unlikely to cause more than a handful of potential owners to decide against any of Honda's bikes based solely on that feature. Also, Honda would kind of be doing their civic duty by gently nudging their customers (especially less experienced riders) to a safer braking technology as well.
I have the 2010, with 28k miles all from commuting to work. This bike is conformtable and easy on the wallet for maintainence. I totally recommend this bike for those who just want a classic, simple cruiser bike.
The ABS version of the Shadow Aero has a disc in the back. Not sure why they dont offer the Phantom doesn't have an ABS version, since they are basically the same bike with different styling.
@@kevinupton900 adequate? That's what you're okay with? Do you approach everything in life that way? Drums are outdated and inferior. Yeah, it works. But there's better.
One of the things I love about this bike is it remains simple. I would not want to see it dripping with tech and watch the price skyrocket. There's already too many bikes like that if that's what you want. Keep this one simple , affordable, and reliable. The shaft drive is a huge bonus.
Other than the color and pipes this looks virtually identical to my 13' Shadow. I think I like that because I love mine the way it is. Thus finding an identical replacement should be easy.
Local shop has one and I check it out every time I stop by. Absolutely love this bike but I REALLY wish it had ABS standard and maybe a 900 twin instead of a 750. Either way it’s an awesome machine. Looks better than the rebel in my opinion.
I have the 2018 I got one year and 1100mi old. I am a middle aged average sized male with 35 yes 35 years of different motorcycle experience. I can tell you this about the Shadow phantom. 1) plenty of power for two up (210# + 135#) on surface streets and highway cruising at 60-65. Albeit at those speeds two up there is nothing in reserve to power out of a situation.. ride accordingly. 2) maintenance is a breeze. Seriously change the oil/filter, spark plugs and air filter and gear box and tire pressures,at intervals. My other bikes require all that plus chain and sprocket adjustments and replacement. Carburetor tuning, fork tuning(since it’s adjustable why not make it good) 3) engine is proven reliable over miles and miles 4) liquid cooled for bumper to bumper commute that you “can’t” lane split 5)great looks 6)low seat height for those that need it and low slung for those who like style 7)low insurance cost even full coverage 8) amazing fuel mileage 9)can easily add rack and factory saddlebags that just finish off the look and are durable. *not waterproof though 10) the sound not a Harley of course but seriously sounds pretty perfect if you remove the baffles. Not deafing but just right to make you feel like you are cool 😎
This bike should get a sixth gear as well as the analog gauge replaced with the digital one from the Rebel 1100. Also throw in some LED lighting and the bike is good for another 10-15 years.
Kevin ! Firstly " Thank you"!! Another great Vlog ! Video shoot excellent ! This cruiser is a cool bike and I like to think of it as an affordable and reliable well priced cruiser that won't break the bank ! 2022 's tank color " green" , is unique and only a starting point as background for a very creative motif overlay addition on top ! Find the right Artist out there and you will have a one off cool bike ! The pipes are are must ! I would have liked the same tank color on the front fender as well ! Please , please keep doing what you're doing ! 🇨🇦👍👍👍🇺🇸
You're the man Nicolaus! The kind words and support mean the world to me as I sit here in the office on yet another Sunday trying to keep the grind going because failure is not an option! Seriously, thank you... Oh yeah, that's very true! It definitely opens up the door for an interesting route to customize it and really make it your own. lol I hear ya, you have to make a little racket as that always make riding more fun. It's funny how we're wired that way, making noise always = more fun! You know, I think having the tank and fenders match would possibly make it look 100x better! It just looks out of place with all of the black and then bam, let's slap an oddly colored green tank right in the middle lol! I hope someone color matches the fenders to the tank soon, I'd love to see the outcome. Sometimes it baffles me why Honda doesn't choose to match certain parts. Example, the 2022 Grom SP having a black front fender makes no sense to me! I know I've said thank you enough times to be annoying by now but thank you again for the support, I really appreciate it...
I have owned HD’s for the past 40 years and presently have an ABS Sportster in my stable. I do think you hit the nail on the head when you mentioned maintenance. There is a lot more maintenance (expense) to owning an HD than a Honda, especially if you do not do the work yourself. Quite frankly, this Phantom or the Aero are not inferior to an Evo Sportster at all and forget the new ones (unless you like hardtails and want back problems). Cruisers to me are boring, but sometimes I feel like boring. The Shadows for me just look right for a cruiser and they are proven. If I were in the market for a new midsize cruiser I would go for the blue Aero ABS (for an extra 200 bucks over the Phantom). You better wear good earplugs with that loud pipes save lives split pea soup Phantom or you’ll end up with tinnitus like me.
I've owned an Evo Sporty and a 750 Shadow. ('98 ACE on the Shadow, '09 EFi rubber-mounted on the Sportster.) I don't feel as though I spent more time wrenching on the Harley than on the Honda. The frequency of the maintenance sessions are the same if you follow the service manual like gospel and maintain the bike as instructed, but maintenance was always quicker and easier on the Harley and there was less to do. Though cost is higher on the Harley if you don't wrench it yourself. But I still suggest the Shadow to my friends who want a bigger bike than their first without breaking the bank. I can't in good conscious advice someone to spend Harley money if I know that they ride less than 10k miles annually. Unless you are on it every day, why go top tier with a Harley, Triumph, BMW whatever?
@@johnraconteur1723 Adjusting 'fall away' (this takes quite a bit of time, a lot more time than any other bike I have adjusted by the book), adjusting primary chain/clutch, changing rear tire/adjusting belt (requires special tools to do properly) is certainly more labor intensive than a shaft drive and changing ABS fluid every two years requires a $400-500 aftermarket scanner to do properly, you cannot buy the Harley scan tool and if you have a problem with the BDM, lights, speedo, etc., you must go to the dealer. Tires on mine are also much more expensive because there are only two manufacturers and one is HD. I could go on, but it has been my experience that maintenance on a Honda or any Japanese bike is less costly and less involved.
>BDM- I meant BCM (Body Control Module). They have basically deleted a fuse box. This controls almost everything and is interconnected with the ECM. For instance, if you put LED lights on it and end up with a hyper flash it will have to be reprogrammed (ask me how I know).
@@harrisodell8081 hahah I loved "ask me how I know". Luckily I haven't had any of those moments. I guess the closest I've come to those 'Harley moments' is with the used Sporty that I started on when I switched brands. 10 year old Sporty with on 3k miles, so fuel just sat in its tank most of its life. The little plastic pre-filter into the pump (the 'sock') had deteriorated. The Harley Harley dealership told me that the fuel pump had no serviceable parts and I must buy a new one. I just went online and bought a 3 pack of socks for $12. Some of the things you mentioned are a tradeoff. The little belt tension guage is cheaper than buying chains over time (my Shadow was chain drive). I've had shaft bikes and never liked them because swapping gear ratios is nearly impossible and there's a noticeable difference in swingarm movement due to the weight. Shafts are spot on perfect for some people. When my Softail gets to old age and I'm more at risk of 'Harley moments', I'll go to an independent shop like I did when I had a Honda problem that was over my head. There's only a crazy difference in parts price if a rider insists on Screamin' Eagle parts. I'm cool with S&S or Dennis Kirk parts.
@@johnraconteur1723 IMHO the Evo Sportster is the best Harley ever made and I’ve owned a few, my first Sporty was a ‘well used’ ’62 XL Ironhead (I pushed that bike many miles) and I’ve owned more than a few big twins. I have been in many conversations where people seem to brag about how much money they have spent on their ‘Big Twins’ on repairs, most well into the thousands. Every new HD I have owned has had multiple warranty issues, which dealing with HD is a PITA. My first street bike was a ‘well used’ ’65 Honda 305 Dream, kinda funky looking but the thing never left me stranded. I have owned three new Honda motorcycles, a VFR, CB500F and the best bike I have ever owned, a CB500X, and no warranty issues. The Evo Sporty is tough, forgiving and comfortable. It is the best and the last. The new Sportsters’ (unless you enjoy self- flagellation) are going to be a very hard ride and knowing HD’s prior performance on R&D the first years are going to be trouble. Enjoy your Sportster, sounds like you got a good one. You have the belt tension tool, now all you need is the belt alignment tool and you’ll be set.
I believe the honda shadow would really benefit from having a gas gauge meter in where the mileage is. That and if they increased the power even by four or five which can be done through aftermarket exhaust, intake, and a tune. Other than that the bike rides absolutely fantastic and looks and sounds killer doing it
Damn i love that green!!!! Really cool bike. Thank you for the great view of this bike. Very cool bike. Might have to park one next to the rest of my honda bikes.
You know, the more I look at it, the more it has slowly started to grow on me lol! I'd love to see someone match the fenders to the tank and see if that helps the overall look but then again that could really mess things up and look dumb. If only I was good at photoshop, I'd try and see if I could put something together but I guess we'll have to wait and see if anyone tries it. Thanks as always for the support and kind words! I really appreciate it...
Thank you! Eventually... But Honda's going to have to revamp the entire platform though and I don't think we'll see that for a number of years. This is only the start of Honda's models with DCT transmissions though and as long as electric bikes don't take over within the next 5 years, we will 100% see more bikes like this with a DCT as well as other CB models and more. As long as DCT sales keep increasing, they'll keep sinking money into expanding it out to more and more segments.
@@HondaProKevin not about to see electric take over a ytime soon. As much as the OEMs want it the customer just don't buy it. The data shows electric vehicle buyers going back to IC. Bike riders, especially cruisers, will just refuse. Offroaders can't charge on the trail. IC is here for a long long time.
It'd be nice to see them introduce some new color options for the Phantom lineup! They've played around with different shades of black, silver, matte white and now this green over the years but we need some more for sure!
I’m planning to get a bike in the next year or two, and and at this point it will hopefully be a phantom from the earlier years. Just need to find one in the budget, and that doesn’t have a bunch of goofy mods to it. Thanks for sharing!
These bikes look great, but definitely need to be upgraded. Drop some weight (maybe 50 to 75 lbs). Add ABS brakes, LED lighting, turn-by-turn GPS, a 5+ gallon tank, and tubeless tires (with spoked rims). This could be a good solo tourer (with a quick-release windshield and some tasteful luggage). And, I'd certainly pay a little more for the upgrades that I cited. Thanks for the great video!
I'm down with all of those updates for sure, it'd definitely bring this platform to the next level and competitive for many more years to come! Sadly, I don't think we'll see any real updates thrown its way for quite some time though. Let's be positive though and hope it's right around the corner lol! Thank you! I really appreciate the kind words...
@Keith C I truly think that most vehicles are made in a manner that is efficient for the manufacturer. Meaning, they are heavier because the bikes are easier to produce at a lower input cost to the producer. With motivation, I think they could shave weight here and there or use lighter weight (albeit more expensive) materials as well. I'd pay a bit more for this. Many bikes are significantly overweight for what they are (and the output of their engines). They CAN do this, but it takes effort. Look at what Honda did with the CB300R, it weighs only 317 lbs. Excellent work. I'd like to see more of it.
Hello! I love this bike but, as a beginning rider, I have decided that an ABS braking system is an absolute "must-have" for me (the IIHS has stated that your chances of being killed or seriously injured are roughly 1/3 lower if you are riding a bike equipped with ABS!). So, as much as I would like to purchase this bike I can't until Honda decides to give it a braking system upgrade. My question for you, then, is have you heard any rumors or been privy to any insider info that would lead you to believe that Honda has plans to add ABS to the Shadow Phantom any time soon? Thanks for the vid... Harry Jones
Informative video really enjoyed it thank you, I'm planning on this or the Aero in Spring. Sloppy job on the exhaust wrap unworthy of a dealership, training videos for how to do that look much better.
Thank you, I really appreciate the kind words! Speaking of the Aero, just knocked out a new video on that one and with either one, you'll be snatching up a great cruiser that you won't have to worry about in the future.
Speaking of the 2022 Aero, I missed being able to video that one by a few hours and was rather saddened lol! Hopefully I'll be able to get my hands on one soon as I love that new blue color combo, looks killer!
Had one once 1100 spirit didn't handle the freeway very well but if you want a reliable bike and dont want to take out a second mortgage the fun factor is basically the same. I dont think a loud exhuast works for this engine design and it might even hurt its performance
Ahh, I remember selling those 1100 Spirits back in the day and maaaan that makes me feel old lol! You hit the nail on the head bud, reliable and no need for another mortgage to get out and have some fun while looking good doing it. Oh yeah, it's definitely a "to each their own" when it comes to pipes like this etc. They are definitely LOUD! Personally, I don't think I could handle riding more than 10 minutes with them before my ears would start bleeding lol but we're all different and that's what makes this hobby fun as everyone likes to make theirs a little different from the next.
I mean any intake or exhaust that the bike isn’t tuned for could hurt the performance of any bike, but I have a similar exhaust on my 2013 phantom with a tune from a power commander and a cobra intake and trust me it does nothing but help the performance, only with the tune though
It's a different shade of green on the CB500X but you're right it's a very similar green and black color combo! Personally, I like the way it looks on the CB500X a little more but this setup has been growing on me, more and more!
Heck yeah, those things are hard to kill! Plus the upside to Honda not really changing them in forever is there's no real "need" to upgrade lol! Fuel injection is nice but there's no way I'd give up my 07 just for that.
Honda makes the best and quality cruisers and any bike they have quality unheard of for years nothing but quality bikes nothing can compare to a Honda bike!
Great question! Sorry for the delay, it's hard to keep up with the thousands of comments and emails these days across all platforms. It depends on how you look at it. Technically, a beginner could hop on just about anything (within reason) and be just fine. The lighter the bike and the less horsepower can definitely make it easier for you to learn the fundamentals though so you don't get in "trouble" as quickly. The Rebel is lighter which is a bonus compared to the Shadow Phantom but it also makes almost twice the horsepower so it could get away from you quickly if you're not extremely careful. Either option, would be a great beginner cruiser and I would probably lean towards the Rebel if you have a level head on your shoulders and can take it easy on the throttle for a while. It has more electronics to make it safer and you'll have more growing room too at the end of the day. It all depends on the person though, if you're an 18 year old kid with no self-control then I 100% would not recommend hopping on that 1100 lol ;)
HondaPro Kevin Thanks a lot Kevin. No sorry as your reply is prompt. I am much older than 18 hahaha... I saw an Iron 883 today at the back door of my home. It was good. My choice is amongst those within 1000cc and I think 883 and Rebel 1100 are my favourites. I am interested in Shadow because of its V-twin engine looking alike of other cruisers. And I am happy with Rebel because all factors you named. However, Rebel doesn’t have a V-twin engine that I must trade off amongst likes against this unlike. Anyway, thanks for your advices which are precious.
hows the gearing on these new models for highway? still the same id imagine? iv owned a 1100 sabre wich had horrible highway gearing and vt750 cd that was geared up with smaller rear sprocket that helps a ton.
It depends on what your idea of highways speed are lol ;) In my opinion, it could definitely stand to be geared a little taller so you don't feel like you're winding it out once you get above 70-80ish.
Had a shadow spirit. Enjoyed not having to get dietied up with the shaft drive. Hard to believe Honda is keeping this bike with drum brakes rear. I was hesitant taking the bike over 60mph as the brakes felt like it just wouldnt slow me to a stop in time.
Honda needs to make a shadow with a bigger engine, at least a vtwin 1100cc or bigger. The 750 just doesn't make enough power PERIOD. Maybe a 1400 or 1500 cc would be perfect for the shadow. Also a sixth gear with some better instrument panels and brakes
Honda definitely needs to do something to spice up their cruiser segment! It's been lacking for years now but then again, the cruiser market became very saturated and sales started to dip so it's easy to understand why they aren't putting a lot of money into newer models but that doesn't mean we need to let them die out!
I just bought one of these and hate how quiet the stock exhaust is. I asked Honda what kind of after market exhausts they know of and they said it was too new, so then asked Vance and Hines and they said they weren't going to be making any for this model and year. I know the bike hasn't changed at all so can i just throw some of the older years aftermarket exhausts on there?
That's odd! lol too new? The bike hasn't changed in many many years so I don't see how it's too new for an aftermarket exhaust system that's already been out for the previous model years. Yeah buddy, I'd just pick up an exhaust from the latest generation your favorite brand made for the Phantom and slap her on there.
Same here bud, I'm not a fan of forward controls but I think it's just because 99% of the time my feet are below or behind me. I can see the appeal for many but it's not my personal preference.
I like the look and sound of this bike. Might look into one of these once I pay off my rebel and once I get my full licence. Maybe slap on some sort of fuel gauge and it'll be sweet as
As much as I hate saying it, it's still true that "anything can be done with enough money" haha but at the end of the day it won't be easy as the ABS is tied into so many aspects of the bike. In my opinion, it wouldn't be worth the potential thousands that it would cost to make it work. On a side note, congrats on your new bike!
A pity Honda didn't colour match the fenders too, which just seems cheap. At least its a good basic V-Twin. The rebels are OK, but they just sound like a lawnmower with the parallel twin. If they were to update it to 2022 - how about updating the instruments with a fuelguage, and tach? Maybe change that tiny LCD to a better TFT for the other info? LED lights. Come on Honda, show this bike some love!!
I like your thinking! Oh and I too would like to see them color match those fenders, it'd be interesting to see how it would look. I think it would look pretty good but then again it may be too much green. Wish I was good at photoshop like that and I'd give it a whirl.
That's always been a #1 criteria when I'm trying to decide exactly which internal combusted 2 wheel mode of transportation to purchase. Will it shoot flames? #wheredoisign
The stock ECU compensates enough for it to not hurt anything but if you really wanted to see some performance increases, you'll need to throw a fuel programmer on it to fine tune her.
I'd buy this if it had better brakes, led lighting, ABS, and a bigger motor. The metallic black looks amazing too. They have one at my local dealer, but it costs as much as a used Indian, so I just couldn't pull the trigger.
Yes sir, but comfortable might be "relative" so-to-say. I'm 6'2" and have put a couple few hour trips on the Phantom and was just fine. I would like to have a little more leg room but that's the case with a lot of cruisers and how they position my legs / feet. If you wanted to stretch out more there are aftermarket forward control options out there too.
Sadly, not anytime soon as the engine doesn't meet your latest Euro5 regulations. It used to be sold over in Europe but they dropped it quite a few years ago.
@@HondaProKevin Thanks! I really wanted the black one! I haven't found it in the DMV. I found only the white one. I'll be paying same price for white 2020 or black 2020 model. What do you think? Should I get the white one or just wait till the dealers get the black one? (dealers doesn't know when they will have one)
No problem bud. Personally, I would wait and get what you really want at the end of the day. I've had so many customers over the years settle, so they could ride right now and 9 out of 10 times they end up regretting that decision. But it really just depends on how happy you'll be with X color over Y. I'd lean towards getting what you really want though, it makes paying for it a little easier at the end of the day lol but that's just me ;)
@@HondaProKevin Simple but great advice! I will wait to find the black one! Do you know of any dealer who has the Black 2022 and will ship to Washington DC?
At first I hated the color scheme but being of a certain age I was just thinking it could be made in to a decent Steve Mcqueen "Great Escape " dedication project !
Oh yeah, they aren't for everyone. I'd rather have these bars over the Aero's setup though when it comes to having control but when it comes to comfort I'd have to lean towards the Aero. Either one though, I think I'd have to mess with different bars to be 100% happy.
Hmm... That's a good question! It's a very good possibility as Honda usually uses a lot of parts that are interchangeable like that but I can't say with 100% certainty without doing a lot of research and digging into it all.
Like the green version as it appears in photos and videos, but would need to see it in real life to reach a final opinion. ABS as an option would be nice. Still, with shaft drive, low seat height, and seating for a passenger, the Shadow Phantom 750 seems an ideal bike. I’m hoping to check it our soon.
I can't say I'm a huge fan of it either, it'll probably start growing on me more and more though once we start to see more people modify them and try different things with the color scheme. There's no denying it's "different" though lol! Thanks bud, really appreciate the kind words and support!
How to innovate on a cruiser? Hard to do. Make it loud enough to shatter windows so the customer doesn't have to mod it? That seems to be all they're good for anyway.
The color is great. There are definitely two things that could be great updates to a really great bike as is. imo Fuel gauge and rear disc brake. I feel like some of the other items mentioned change things to a point that this is no longer the bike we have come to love and can afford. Keep it shiny side up
I'm not sure on Canada's laws but I would contact a dealer in one of the bordering states and see if they're familiar with the possibilities and legality behind importing one.
I'm sorry to laugh but your "god was unkind to me" really cracked me up bud! Depending on your inseam, it'll be close but I've sold these to people around your height and they were just fine ;)
i am NOT a harley guy. i haven't been on a bike in 40 years. i really want a FURY, but as a first bike again 10 grand is difficult for me, but better than harleys. this Phantom seems like a better suited ride for me. the green not bad, the blacked out look is too much. i would like a little more chrome, mini apes, and maybe the same size rear tire as the Fury. one more thing, how is this bike riding between 45 mph, and 65 for hours at a time, and top speed just for sh-ts and giggles.
Oh yeah, definitely a lot better price points than hopping on a Harley and cheaper in the long run too which is always a bonus. The Fury is a looker for sure but the Phantom is still an awesome bike and the 45-65mph mark is its sweet spot!
I liked it enough that I bought one, my first bike and already fifteen hundred miles in, totally worth it in my opinion.
Carburetor tuning, fork tuning(since it’s adjustable why not make it good)
3) engine is proven reliable over miles and miles
4) liquid cooled for bumper to bumper commute that you “can’t” lane split
5)great looks
6)low seat height for those that need it and low slung for those who like style
7)low insurance cost even full coverage
8) amazing fuel mileage
9)can easily add rack and factory saddlebags that just finish off the look and are durable. *not waterproof though
10) the sound not a Harley of course but seriously sounds pretty perfect if you remove the baffles. Not deafing but just right to make you feel like you are cool 😎
It looks handsome with the stock exhaust, and handsome with the v&h the exhaust and heat wraps too.
This bike should get a sixth gear as well as the analog gauge replaced with the digital one from the Rebel 1100. Also throw in some LED lighting and the bike is good for another 10-15 years.
You're spot on bud! ...and maybe throw an extra horsepower or two in there while we're at it lol!
At least a rear disk brake!
Digital gauges have a way of aging with time. The stock analog gauge is rather timeless. In 10-15 years it won't look 10-15 years old...
@@edwingonzalez8840 it's a 750 shadow it doesn't go fast lol
Great motorcycle, I’ve had mine since 2012! But, it is due for an update…
@@HondaProKevin Kevin you are a " Professional" and a
" Gentleman " first and foremost ! Talk again soon !
Other than that the bike rides absolutely fantastic and looks and sounds killer doing it
I like your thinking!
Absolutely LOVE the Adventure Green. Big Red finally expands its horizons ! Most Hondas have looked like child's toys for years running.
I’m researching everything for my first bike. Thank you for this
My only question for Honda is...Why does the Aero have an ABS option, but the Phantom does not when they have the same platform?
👍🏻
Why is there chocolate on my popsicle
And why these two bikes not selling in UK. I hate rebel
@@furkanakdag3650 yeah rebel sucks
My most wanted feature would be a 6 speed drive transmission. Second, a gear indicator. Last, a fuel gauge indicator.
Nice video. Any chance if we will see any DCT version in this like the rebel or in the CD1000 or CB1100?
Solid entry level to intermediate level bike. I wouldn’t change a thing for that price, maybe more color options.
It'd be nice to see them introduce some new color options for the Phantom lineup! They've played around with different shades of black, silver, matte white and now this green over the years but we need some more for sure!
There's so many of these Shadows on the used market for dirt cheap. I may have to pick one up for my first serious bike.
I’m planning to get a bike in the next year or two, and and at this point it will hopefully be a phantom from the earlier years. Just need to find one in the budget, and that doesn’t have a bunch of goofy mods to it. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks HPK. Great job. Good info. God bless. Happy trails.
I kind of like it and its a temping alternative to the rebel. The rebel is my favorite for its looks, sportiness and modern features.
@Keith C Thank you and Happy New Year, my friend!
I really want the 2022 Honda Shadow Aero with that awesome shade of blue, but that Phantom looks really good too.
Speaking of the 2022 Aero, I missed being able to video that one by a few hours and was rather saddened lol! Hopefully I'll be able to get my hands on one soon as I love that new blue color combo, looks killer!
@@HondaProKevin I am very very very tempted by the 2022 Aero.
Enjoyed the video. Keep it up!
Thanks as always for the support GR! Much appreciated bud ;)
the Honda Fury looks amazing
❤️ this bike! Mine is a 2009 750 Shadow C2… time for an upgrade 😅
I would like to see is more color. And a sissy bar. But the bike looks and sounds good. I would buy it over a harley davidson any day
Honda you guys are amazing 👏 nothing but quality 👌and beauty the Honda phantom!
I think it looks pretty cool I would buy one.
When will they return to Europe with Honda Shadow? Now i have a Honda Africa Twin 1000, before i had a Honda Shadow 750
I like the green and black colour combo, I have seen this colour on the latest honda 500x adventure bike.
It's a different shade of green on the CB500X but you're right it's a very similar green and black color combo! Personally, I like the way it looks on the CB500X a little more but this setup has been growing on me, more and more!
I still have my 07 aero...still running and running hard....should I say any more about it? No regrets about it.
The green is beautiful
Great bobber platform as usual.
Yeah buddy!
Would this be good for a starter bike i really like the look
I really like the Phantom but I am 73 yrs old and would really love to see it with a DCT. Do you think Honda will ever do that?
How do you compare this with Rebel 1100 for a beginner in cruisers? Thanks a lot.
It depends on what your idea of highways speed are lol ;)
In my opinion, it could definitely stand to be geared a little taller so you don't feel like you're winding it out once you get above 70-80ish.
Rides great on the highway had it cruising at 90 np
I'd like to see the VTX1800 6 speed platform brought back and used again. Even the 1300 had some nice torque once deleted with exhaust and jets.
I love this bike. I love the color. I wish it had a six speed and I wish I could afford one.
Oh yeah, it could definitely use a six speed for sure!
Maybe soon bud, maybe soon ;)
Love the paint job and the shaft drive, V & H pipes. I don't like the forward controls.
Same here bud, I'm not a fan of forward controls but I think it's just because 99% of the time my feet are below or behind me. I can see the appeal for many but it's not my personal preference.
I like the look and sound of this bike. Might look into one of these once I pay off my rebel and once I get my full licence. Maybe slap on some sort of fuel gauge and it'll be sweet as
Symetrical exhaust and it would be beautiful 😎
Just got this as my 1st bike...if I want to upgrade to ABS brakes, can that be modified/ done at some point, or no?
As much as I hate saying it, it's still true that "anything can be done with enough money" haha but at the end of the day it won't be easy as the ABS is tied into so many aspects of the bike. In my opinion, it wouldn't be worth the potential thousands that it would cost to make it work.
On a side note, congrats on your new bike!
@@HondaProKevin Thanks! So far, I'm really enjoying it (and am looking forward to warmer temperatures in Atlanta)!
I like the funky green, but I get that it's probably not for everyone. Reminds me of an mid-century avocado-colored fridge.
I dig the color, Sounds really sweet too
The color has been growing on me and you're right, she sounds pretty sweet for sure with those V&H pipes!

I liked a Rubicon 520 color Green and Brown 2021, how do I contact it?
Are you in the USA?
What’s the difference between this shadow & shadow phantom?
I don't understand why the fenders are not the same color as the tank, but I still like it.
Are blacked out pipes available?
Surely the carbs had to be re-jetted or something, to deal with those pipes?
The stock ECU compensates enough for it to not hurt anything but if you really wanted to see some performance increases, you'll need to throw a fuel programmer on it to fine tune her.

They have one at my local dealer, but it costs as much as a used Indian, so I just couldn't pull the trigger.
I get the point of the Phantom . Honda Shadow brings lot's of refinement with this model . Thanks
Does anyone know if there's an option to add ABS as an aftermarket add on? Also, what would something like that cost?
Stand up mid foot pegs would be nice.
I'm 6'1" could i ride this bike or any phantom comfortably ?
Yes sir, but comfortable might be "relative" so-to-say. I'm 6'2" and have put a couple few hour trips on the Phantom and was just fine. I would like to have a little more leg room but that's the case with a lot of cruisers and how they position my legs / feet. If you wanted to stretch out more there are aftermarket forward control options out there too.
@@HondaProKevin Thank you sir, im wanting my first bike to be the best fit.
Hi, Will this bike be available in europe? I really want a custom bike that i can drive with A2 license
Sadly, not anytime soon as the engine doesn't meet your latest Euro5 regulations. It used to be sold over in Europe but they dropped it quite a few years ago.
So besides colors what are the differences between the 2020 and 2022 model of the Phantom?
Nothing, identical to the T ;)
Do you know of any dealer who has the Black 2022 and will ship to Washington DC?
do this Honda's cruiser bike available in India Kerala or in Tamil nadu
At first I hated the color scheme but being of a certain age I was just thinking it could be made in to a decent Steve Mcqueen "Great Escape " dedication project !
Ohh yeah, that'd be pretty cool!
I never liked how the handle bars are angled. I prefer level or strait. These ones are diagonal and it feels weird
Oh yeah, they aren't for everyone. I'd rather have these bars over the Aero's setup though when it comes to having control but when it comes to comfort I'd have to lean towards the Aero. Either one though, I think I'd have to mess with different bars to be 100% happy.
Have 07 c2 model.... Can I put the rear wheel disc brakes off aero on my bike
It actually looks way better in person in my opinion. Local shop has one and it’s one of the most striking bikes there.
No offense but i don't like the new green color of the Phantom . Nice vid Kevin.
I can't say I'm a huge fan of it either, it'll probably start growing on me more and more though once we start to see more people modify them and try different things with the color scheme. There's no denying it's "different" though lol!
Thanks bud, really appreciate the kind words and support!
I think i just saw my dream cruiser bike 😍
What’s the maintenance like
I cover its maintenance schedule in the video ;)
Is it possible to purchase such a perfect bike and ship it to Poland?
How to innovate on a cruiser? Hard to do. Make it loud enough to shatter windows so the customer doesn't have to mod it? That seems to be all they're good for anyway.
lol!
The color is great. There are definitely two things that could be great updates to a really great bike as is. imo Fuel gauge and rear disc brake. I feel like some of the other items mentioned change things to a point that this is no longer the bike we have come to love and can afford. Keep it shiny side up
Honda=quality =superb
How about a 6 cylinder 750 gold wing touring?
As much as I'd love to see that... I don't think we'll be seeing many more new four / six cylinder engines in development anytime soon.
Does not sell in Canada, where to buy.
I'm not sure on Canada's laws but I would contact a dealer in one of the bordering states and see if they're familiar with the possibilities and legality behind importing one.
I like this Honda Shadow Phanthom😊❤👌👍
There's a lot to like on the Phantom for sure!
I'm 5'3. God was unkind to me. Do you think I can reach the forward controls?
I'm sorry to laugh but your "god was unkind to me" really cracked me up bud!

i am NOT a harley guy. i haven't been on a bike in 40 years. i really want a FURY, but as a first bike again 10 grand is difficult for me, but better than harleys. this Phantom seems like a better suited ride for me. the green not bad, the blacked out look is too much. i would like a little more chrome, mini apes, and maybe the same size rear tire as the Fury. one more thing, how is this bike riding between 45 mph, and 65 for hours at a time, and top speed just for sh-ts and giggles.
Oh yeah, definitely a lot better price points than hopping on a Harley and cheaper in the long run too which is always a bonus. The Fury is a looker for sure but the Phantom is still an awesome bike and the 45-65mph mark is its sweet spot! Once you get in the 80's she starts to run out of steam a little bit but depending on your weight and the terrain, she'll get into the 90s before you're maxed out. Some featherweights claim to have pulled off triple digits but I haven't personally taken one of the Shadow 750 models up that high.
@@HondaProKevin thank you for that response, the Fury is so cool, but it does mess with my keeping a low profile. i think the Phantom is just the right bike for me. thank you.
I like the color but honda really needs to color coordinate the front and rear fenders to enhance the models looks.
Would like that the OEM exhaust come all black and not chrome
Exactly, that's the way it should come in my opinion.
