- Pry Bars are about as simple a tool as can be made. No so with indexing pry bars. Taking the classic pry bar to the next level is a rotating head changing the force relationship between effort and load. Add in a few different head designs and hammerable faces and you've got yourself a sophisticated choice of which pry bar to use.

Thanks for this video. I am now purchasing one of the orange ones specifically for heavy tire changes at work. I use a regular pry bar but it just isn’t wide enough (tire rolls off one side or the other) so I’m so glad I found this video and realized there are wide ones like that orange one!
Great stuff. That 8” SnapOn would be perfect for me as a fireman. Good for stripping interior vehicle trim or gapping a house window.

I carry an adjustable length one from gearwrench in the truck with me for emergencies.
Gearwrench makes some badass indexing extendable bars. I’ve got both and they went from be “mine” to being “shop bars” lol. Has anyone got any experience using the indexing bars, such as the small SnapOn in the video, to pull seals? I’ve considered getting them since I think they’d be more useful than getting a dedicated seal puller.
I realize you’re not a harbor freight guy. But they have indexing pry bars now. Made in Taiwan that are insanely good. Under their Quinn brand.
The large one is designed to pop perpendicular deck boards off of a joist
I like being able to wedge them into a place and then use my regular pry bars with them, I have a short one that extends from 13 to 18 inches that is handy
I've been thinking about an extendable one. Got any brands you like?
@@lastbesttool I dont think any of them are USA made at the moment, if gearwrench has the 13 to 18 size id go with them as they're easiest to warranty. its a bummer a lot of brands dont list country of origin =/
@@Toyotas_n__Tools Sometimes I wonder if the rebranding companies don't even know where their supply chain leads. And probably don't care. Easier that way should it turn out the tools are made in labor camps by children, or import violates sanctions. Just imagine if we discovered that our beloved Gearwrench tools were made in North Korea. That country has to be making money somehow, right?

would you say a indexing pry replaces a normal pry bar? what are your thoughts?
It would depend on the head shape you need. Indexing pry bars usually have more of a crescent shaped head that thickens rapidly from the tip. Conventional pry bars like Snap On have more a scraper edge with a less steep ramp. And, of course, there are moving parts in the indexing one so there's that.
Who makes the big orange one please?
The smallest one is a Snap On, and the three larger one are all made by Crescent Tool.
