Good morning from New England..This youngster is a prodigy plain and simple...How many 8 yr olds are this proficient on ANY instrument...When I was 8 I was still 2 yrs away from my own drum journey and still banging on furniture and counter tops lol..This guy is going to have a great career in music whatever he decides to pursue 🧐🤘✌️
Its crazy Ive been watching this kid progress on UA-cam for the past 4 years and he is unlocking cheat codes at such an early age I can’t imagine what he will be doing musically in the the next 5-7 years when he is not even 16 years old…just bonkers
Dream theater is already cracked as is. The average drummer running around for even 10 years would still have trouble. But he's been banging out these dream theater songs for at least 3. Its super human levels of dedication and skill.
Great advice about not getting in the way. I've watched other videos where people were being critical. I mean come on, he's what, now 10!? This kid plays better than adults I've seen playing for far longer. Kenney Wayne Shepard comes to mind. Kudos to you, sir.
I just don't know where to start! He is going to be an international superstar. In one of those huge bands that comes along once in a blue moon to amaze us mere mortals. I'm not jealous, I'm really happy for young Caleb. Go tear up the world! 👍✌️❤️
Hey Andrew. Thanks for your always spot on, and very helpful, analysis. Just curious though. Have you ever personally had a student (at or near this age) that plays at this level, or YOYOKA's level! I'm just thinking they are prodigy level and only a few come along in a lifetime, and that many teachers might not ever have a drummer this good? The following comments probably apply to Caleb. I just don't know him like I do YOYOKA. Like YOYOKA, who says she listens to a song twice then can just play it. And doesn't practice near as much as most drummers. You've seen her video on her whole process. She doesn't just play and record it. It understands everything about what she's doing, such that she could even teach it when she was 8. And what you were saying about "can't get them off the kit". When she came to Las Vegas, after flying over from Japan and spending 3 days in Los Angeles, she immediately asks if we can go to the studio, because I haven't played in 4 days!", like she was going to die or something. They both have what it takes! Thanks again.
You teach kids like that the techniques that you pick up over time and learn him how to read drum tablature , that's all you can do , with the gifted self taught types its often the little techniques that make playing a bit less demanding physically that they don't know about , once they see there is an easier way to achieve the sounds they want ,well that's when they flourish and hopefully make a career of some kind out of drumming .
In a couple of years Caleb is most likely going to cover things like Meshuggah, and technical death metal bands like The Faceless. the kid is a prodigy no doubt about it.
honest question...is there a limit of what he will be able to do? I mean... has he reached his full potential or is there more he can do. If so, what does he need to learn or improve on?
He's 8 years old here, no he has not reached his full potential. This kid is absolutely bonkers. But when he grows up he's gonna be crazy. Since you asked what he could improve on. That would be tightness and control behind the kit.
Considering Caleb's age..... can we say that he's on the same...if not a very comparable.... level as Estepario?! Serious question! 🤘🏼🥁🤘🏼 And in a cockpit, isn't it called the yoke or till or something like that? 🤔🤷🏻♂️
First song I learned to play on the kit was “Living After Midnight” from Judas Priest at age 14. I smoked it. This kid is overrated. 😂😂. Sorry, couldn’t help myself. This player is unbelievable.
I have a question. Please forgive my ignorance. His body is still developing...should there be worry about injury to his wrists...like carpal tunnel? I was just looking at his wrists...I am completely untalented when it comes to music. Though I love it very much. I have the attention span of a knat and the coordination of a sloth.😊😊😊
Dream Theater need to step up their game, music so easy 8 year olds are shredding it.
😂😂😉
🤣🤣🤣
This boy is the present and future of drumming :)
You need to check out his cover of sepultura isolation
Just insane of the loudness of the snare!!! That takes some strength.
Amazing young drummer

I’m having trouble getting my 8 yo students just to pay attention during lessons

Kid's mad good. Honestly, if he can get this song this good now, I can't even imagine what he's gonna be doing in 10 years.
He’s to the point he needs to play with other musicians of his caliber. I don’t know what the Getty and leaf are doing, but he would fit in good.
He probably is!
But yup that's always my advice to any muso. Play with other musos
Wow love it.
As an aside, you will have to get your tickets, that you promised yourself, to Iron Maiden in Auckland next September 16th
Caleb is the future of drummers!
It’s sooooooooo clean 😮😳😳😳😅
🤷♂️
he plays so hard he is a master his playing is so smooth he is my favorite drummer I would buy his CD's he makes it look so easy

When I was 4…I ate dirt…

I hope Caleb's dad is pumping Planetary Duality for him to absorb. Caleb would eat that stuff up and be playing it in no time.
He just did bleed this week
I was going to rewind the part where you said: No he didn’t 😂
Talk about impressive
does the left hand beat count if a person is left handed as i have read ringo is?
Yeah whatever is playing the back beat.
Can tell so much about a drummer from how crisp it is
Caleb H age 9 does a Sepultura cover
He just kill all the haters after this 🤷🏻♂️🤣

I imagine he’ll start branching into doing his own percussion work while drumming much like Thomas lang does

I think in that same way. He is young El Estepario or Mike Portnoy. I wish him all the best.
@@pin-upmariposa412I love him I met Mr portnory

Andrew you got nothing lol. Word salad

I wonder what Caleb thinks of Jazz? Reading drum music? Playing dynamics, not just the same volume all the time.
He can and does. Maybe you should watch his content.
You should really stop wondering all together
I think you need to wander
