I bought mine about 6 months ago. Been “restoring” a 2000 F150. It had numerous mechanical issues which are now behind me. Nothing too expensive or beyond my capabilities. I’m about done with the interior. Maybe next month I’ll begin on the exterior. Love these trucks. I can honestly say that this’ll be my last one. Thank you for sharing.
This is a really wholesome thing to hear, do you have a channel showing the repairs? I'd love to watch! Main thing that limited me was the shipping costs, new bumper = cheap, getting it shipped = x10 cost. I miss mine very much and would love to watch another being built up! Thank you for sharing your story and I look forward to hearing from you.
I had the Spec-D branded lights. Judging from the front and back view of the housing, they are the exact same. I tried to convince myself to like the performance of the headlight, but the driving light supplied in the Spec-D is powered by an H1 bulb which is typically used for fog lamps and shined like an actual candle. Driving at night on country roads and city streets without street lamps felt dangerous. I miss the modern look for my 10th gen but reinstalled my Harley knock-offs with Boslla LED which perform much better. For anyone considering this headlight housing, make sure it does not ship with H1 bulbs.
Compared to the OEM lights I had these were a stark contrast! the day time running lights were fantastic for lighting up a wide area close up and the projector bulbs did a great job of throwing the light the distance, you can see @5:30 the difference in brightness, area and the sharpness of the beam shape (reduced glare for passers by). I frequently drove the country roads to and from the yard at night no issue, (the high beams were especially good!) I will try and find the bulb info and report back! for reference price wise these cost $323.50 with shipping
I got my led headlights from Amazon and I had a hard time simply trying to lift the release trigger for my 2001 Ford F150 , so when these video's show these guys doing it no problems , bull ! I had adjust the screws alot yet my became flush with grill . I like the modern look !
Thanks! They were much brighter with cleaner lines too, it sure does stand out! Getting parking tickets or drive throughs can only be done with a passenger present though! 😁 I bought it from someone already over here! Sold it a year ago but found it for sale again!.... tempting to buy it back!
What power source did you splice into for the drl? Do you have them set to come on automatically when the truck starts or did you tap into the parking lights and just turn them on but I noticed your parking light bulbs weren’t on if you wouldn’t mind explaining how you spice it in because I love the way yours look I just ordered the same set.
I used the side lights, in the video those were the cables I cut and re crimped, x2 cables to the old bulb were crimped to the black and white cables that came seperate to the new headlight plug. This did mean you could turn on and off the DRL's but one thing I would change would be to stick a DRL sensor in so that they turned off at night.
How do you hook up daytime running lights so that they go on without putting the parking lights on? Do you wire the 2 wires straight to the battery? I spliced mine into the turn signal/parking amber lights but they only turn on when I switch on parking. Any help appreciated. I have an 03 ford f150
I had mine wired to the parking lights (first switch option), i liked the option to turn them off, but you could wire them to a spare (fused) relay output so they turn on with the ignition. 👍
Are they really worth it? I know the look makes it stand out but how bright is it on the road at night. I have to worry about animals on the road where I live, so I want to know if the lighting is actually worth or is it just for looks.
Most definitely! much brighter with a clear cut off point, so no glare for other drivers. My only negative would be the indicators aren't as good! the reflector section for them was too small. They are projector lamps for the main beams which work great and the high beams looked like those adverts for worlds brightest flashlight 😂. For the animals, the sidelights/driving lights, the cool looking bracket shaped lights, are insanely good, they light up the tree line to your side and would show if an animal was running out of the trees. Its a shame I can't add a photo to my reply!
The Raptor grille looks sick! you should be able to splice the supply to the grille with the running lights on the headlights, just make sure the combined wattage doesn't exceed the wiring capacity!, you could always fit a relay to the running light switch to connect a higher gauge wire direct from the battery to both sets of lights!
That's great, glad you got them working! would love to see the finished project! you can always send a photo over to the channel email 'bearmountainengineering@gmail.com' 😁

Evening! Looking back at some photos I took, I wired the 'Daylight running lights' to the 'side lights', you can see the wires at 1:31. It means less battery drain if you don't need the lights! I temporarily crimped the wires, a soldered connector was the permanent solution!
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, the headlight upgrade was more for function over appearance, however I rather like the style! the only thing I wanted to change was to fit the chrome grille to break up the slab of black!

Set up a drl module so the lights run during the day.
That's a really good idea 👍
That's how i have the lights running in my f150. The drl module aren't that expensive on Amazon/ Ebay
@@ivanontiveros2230 I'd love to give that a go, I don't have the F150 anymore, but I do have a Subaru that could do with some DRL's

use the brown wire on the parking lights and connect that to the green wire on the new headlights. then black to black

Can i can the actual headlight bulb to a LED bulb to match my daytime running light?
Depending on how you wire it up, the daytime running lights stay on with the headlight bulb which comes as an LED projector bulb 👍
