I just looked at The Free printable book of TGTB Math and we're currently on the third curriculum in math. First one was Singapore Math and my son was literally in tears and we used Master Books, and honestly after 90 days I just felt like he was regressing, so we're using a online class set up and my goodness, when I looked at how they explain the math instead of just expecting your kids to know the math and finish the problems, I sighed audibly and am already planning on just going over 3rd grade math with my son next year. I wished I had found this math when I was starting out in August of this year.
I felt the exact same way when I saw they were coming out with a simplified version. I bought ahead for my rising kindergartner when it was deeply clearanced but I’m actually planning to give it away and purchase the simply math k for her. My oldest (twins) used original level 2 last year and still loved it. I’m excited to see what I think of the simply versions this fall. I do love that there’s less manipulatives for sure! My rising kindergartner did kindergarten math from Masterbooks last year which taught her absolutely nothing new despite her not being at a kindergarten level at all but otherwise we’ve used TGTB math for my twins and they’ve always done well and enjoyed it!
Having less manupalatives is definitely a plus for me too and love that the games are inside the course book! I would skip the games too in the old version.
We have been using TGATB LA for the past couple years and we loooove it ! Because we love thier LA and other topics so much I have been eyeing the math it looks so fun so I ordered it and we are switching mid year ..I really feel like and hope it will bring joy back into math for my kiddos . Thanks for sharing your experience 😊
The best part is, the new edition is free to download the entire course if you just wanted to try out a few lessons to see how it works for both of you!
It can be frustrating when a math (or any subject) curriculum is "too gentle"--I know what you mean, we've tried out programs in the past that moved too slowly and gently, and found that to be pretty difficult with eager learners! I enjoyed hearing about your journey with math!
Thank you so much for this review. We have done the old level 1 and are getting ready to finish level 2. My son loves it, but lately we have been skipping most of the games because it takes forever to collect all of the pieces. I have been researching other math curriculums since my second son is starting K and I feel like I need a math that doesn't take so much time. I had forgotten that TGATB simplified their curriculum!!!!
Thank you for this video. I have been on the fence about changing to TG&TB for my 2nd grader. He is flying through Singapore and is saying he is bored. I am looking for something a little more challenging but with the solid foundation he needs! I may need to really consider this one. Thanks again! 😊
You’re welcome! This math definitely is fun! You can always download some lessons for free and try a few out to see how he likes it before making a switch 👍
We are using the old kindergarten The Good and The Beautiful Math. I love it but I have to admit I am really looking forward to using the Simply Good and Beautiful for first grade.
Thanks for this video! I am doing Abeka LA and math with my Kinder and 1st grader and I’m considering switching them for both of those subjects. I know with the Abeka math I just don’t feel like it teaches the concept behind everything. Our girl in K is struggling. I appreciate this video and your video comparing Abeka and TGATB LA. Thank you for taking the time to explain it all!
We use TGATB simply math 4 too! I'm soo glad you say it looks as thorough as their original. This is first time using their math. I think I'm going to switch my K over when he starts 1st grade. I had to laugh (because I know you told me you are eclectic like me) and how you got that urge to try something new. Definitely an eclectic trait 😆 Appreciate this video- thank you and your house looks soo beautiful. Mine is always a hot mess 🤣
I do love switching things up now and again to keep it fresh, but truthfully this decision wasn’t based on that 😊 And you are so sweet! But I definitely threw some things in the corner or to the side to make this video 😂
I have three girls, all that start with the letter A - Annabelle, Avery, and Alessia. I think it’s so sweet to see you have 3 girls that start with L!! We just started with TGATB math this year and it’s going well 😊
Aww love that ☺️. We were talking about naming our middle Alessia and we ended up going with Alexia for her name (Lexi for short). Your girls names are beautiful 😍
I saw in your one of your other videos that you have used ABeka math as a supplement. We’ve used ABeka (and BJU) but I’m so tempted to try The Good and The Beautiful! I would love if you could compare it with ABeka!
I have a video coming out that will compare TGTB and ABEKA LA, but still not sure about comparing their math yet 🤔 Only because the simply good and beautiful math is so new and is a bit different than the old math, I’m not as familiar with it to give it a thorough comparison. If the old math was still around, I would do it in a minute! Not that I’m not going to do it, but still thinking on it. Definitely thinking on it! Sorry I couldn’t be more definitive right now 😏😞
I was like you I grabbed up the old math when it went on sale for like 90% off. I developed a case of FOMO lol So I bought levels 2 and 4 for my final two kids ( we have been home schooling for 18 yrs with 8 kids and we now have 6 graduates ). We love this curriculum so much!!! The youngest 2 are on the Autism Spectrum what used to be called Asperger syndrome. They both love the program. Our daughter insists on two lessons a day and calls math her favorite subject! Win!!!
We don't use TGTB math, but their new simple math looks so good. I love that they've incorporated the games into the lesson rather then sending you off. Our math frequently sends us off to do games with manipulatives and it can be exhausting. 💕💕
If something is too gentle and is too easy do the next level or change curriculum!!! We love their new math range!!! We started on earlier levels and done more than one level but my kids also needed to get a better foundation for math!!! We find simply math has a good lesson length!!!
Loving TGATB math too! My second grader currently is about halfway thru level 1 (old version!) and it’s going great! And loving Simply Good and Beautiful level k too 😊 Thanks for sharing your thoughts! Solid math for sure!
Have you used The Good & The Beautiful math? Did you like it? Do you still use it? What are you thoughts?
We used the old math and LOVED it, the new math nope and are searching for something to replace TGTB old math.
@@heatherhill9393 aww sorry it didn’t work out for you 😔 it stinks when you find something that works so well but then have to find something else.
We have used both the old and the new and LOVE it. It’s been years and we have no plans to change. ❤️

Loved hearing your review and your math journey! We are using TGTB math 2 the new edition and my son likes it so far! ❤
Glad he likes it! 🙌
Love your transparency in this video! We are loving the new TGTB math. :)
Thanks so much! I try to be open and authentic when giving our experience

I love the comparison & look inside.
You’re welcome! Thanks so much for watching 😊

It definitely makes me more motivated to do the games now!

We use Horizons currently, however I will look more into it for my baby girl...
The best part is, the new edition is free to download the entire course if you just wanted to try out a few lessons to see how it works for both of you!
How do you like horizons? Does it lay a good foundation and give enough instruction?

Right! I’m glad you can relate 😌

Yes it is much quicker and they still have games but built it and no hunting down 75 game pieces 😂

We haven't used any of TGTB curriculum but I've heard a lot of people thrilled about it being a lot better and less time when it come to the new math.
Yes it’s more concise which doesn’t always mean better, but it’s great for when you have multiple kids or are in a time crunch
My daughter loves TGTB math too! We tried other math curriculums and nothing compares to TGTB.
Same! It’s just the right fit for us!
We use TGATB simply math 4 too!
I'm soo glad you say it looks as thorough as their original. This is first time using their math.

We started just this year with TGATB Math, so it's eye opening to see how different their old math was! We are loving it so far!
I’m glad you’re loving it! And yes the old math is definitely different than the new!
How long does Math K new edition usually take in your experience?
No more than 10 minutes

Yes it’s nice to have it right there! It’s been such a time saver and it keeps the lesson moving along

Exactly…the former curriculum we used was too gentle (for my preference) even in the next levels, so that’s why we made the switch to TGTB ☺️
Loving TGATB math too! My second grader currently is about halfway thru level 1 (old version!) and it’s going great! And loving Simply Good and Beautiful level k too 😊
Thanks for sharing your thoughts! Solid math for sure!
Ooh nice! You’re doing old and new at the same time? Awesome! How do the two compare for you?
Everyone says that the problem with TGTB maths starts with grade 3...who agrees??
