If you find these cameras, I REALLY want to see a picture of the state in which you find them. Much less if they are put back into service again. I tuned in after 5 was already gone, and watching 9 getting pounded and submerged, over and over again, by the storm surge. I was in awe. Whoever built the protection for those camera units is amazing.
I took a direct hit from this hurricane in Cape Coral. It's nice to be able to watch this stream and experience it from a different lens as I was too wrapped up in staying safe that I didn't have a chance to observe and discuss.
The Hotel at cam 9 is owned by my late Father's friend who is almost 91 today and he was in the unique windstorm that hit the Watertown NY area many years ago at our cottages in Cape Vincent NY. He told my mother that the storm in this beautiful N y village made a scarier sound then any hurricane he was ever in at the time. I wonder if this hurricane will top the sound he heard in that N Y storm. I watched the Us Olympic Hockey team beat the Soviets in miracle on ice game back in 1980 when we were staying here.They would win the gold medal 2 days later on my 16th birthday.
SurgeCam 9 just has to be the highlight Camera of this live. It's standing about 6ft above ground yet Is still getting pummeled by the waves. Absolutely insane.

That was incredible footage! I hope someone can comment and tell me if Cam 5 and/or the tree made it?? I had to go to work in the middle of the stream.
My heart goes out to everyone affected by this hurricane. I hope everyone was able to get to safety, and I hope the damage can be fixed quickly so their lives can go back to normal. Prayers lifted! This footage is a huge achievement, so thank you to everyone who worked hard to bring us this coverage. Lastly, I'm still thinking about the cam5 Palm Tree, we all grew to love and "root" for this tree. If anyone can find that tree, it really needs to be commemorated in some way, because that tree, cam5, and cam9 were legends. They will go down in history!! They fought the good fight and stood strong against the hurricane. How inspiring 👏 For anyone who didn't see: 4:34:03 is when cam5 went down and 4:51:51 is when cam9 went down. Still impressive in my book.
Thank you for taking the time to produce these live streams and weather information. I saw on the forecast screen that several tornado warnings were issued with the hurricane. Did you catch any tornadoes or water spouts with your surge cams?
I had to go to work during the stream, so I came back just to find this out. I checked back on the video, at 4:34:03 is when Cam5 went down, and last we saw the brave Palm tree was still standing. Then at 4:51:51 Cam9 went down. I believe the tree made it!!
