      Just so we are clear the White man was not singing he was lip syncing, the voiceover on both the white man and black man is sung by a black man Joyner Lucas. So while the white guy was mouthing the words he was not singing it.

      his dad destroyed the point. his dad talks about what the media portrays, thats what the media portrays young african americans. violent, drug dealer no education. not every white guy is fat, uneducated and has a job. his reaction shows that he dosent understand the song or video. getting defensive about that show his integrity isn't what he portrays.

      My boyfriend is black, and he considers my dating him a sign of not being racist. I feel like I have to explain that I know people with white friends who do say racist stuff sometimes when that black friend isn’t around. I have also heard of people in abusive relationships that absolutely have racist feelings and actively put down the person of another race. It doesn’t describe our relationship so he doesn’t think it applies in general. Its a weird backwards debate to have, lol.

    Bro, I have seen alot and I mean alot of reactions to this song, and your Father is the ONLY one that caught on and was open minded to BOTH sides and point of views. Your Father is a very smart man, he caught onto the message. And that's what Joyner Lucas wanted to accomplish, and out of the 60 some reactions I have seen tied to this song, you dad caught on real quick as to what Joyner was trying to say. Your father is a wise man kid. Listen to everything he says. In situations you have to be able to think outside the box and listen to ones words and then judge them on their actions. Good video kid.

      When you understand the history and why weʻre at the point weʻre at rn in our community as black people itʻs kind of hard to hear the other side, since what theyʻre looking at is what they see now, but it was wayy more than just slavery and jim crow. When we get into the destabilization of black communities, literal burning down of thriving black towns, the purposeful pushing of heroin and crack into our communities. Itʻs way more than just the surface.

    I looked at the black guy knocking off the white guy’s hat differently. Rather than being physical, I took it as him knocking off the trump hat (and all that come with that symbol) WITHOUT touching or hurting him. Interesting to see your point of view though

    • @MrChuy0394
      @MrChuy0394 5 років тому +104

      I've seen quite a couple of reation videos and most of the "Dads" (or older black males) feel the same way about him knocking off the hat saying " he shouldn't have done that" and get mad or irritated. while the younger generations found it funny and laughed at him knocking the hat off or don't notice it. As we can see both the actors are portraying Very Stereotypical characters and in the direction of the video I think Joyner Lucas tried to convey what a stereotypical black man would do in that given situation (he also knocked over the table btw) to really portray his message and give more of an effect to make the scene seem more real.
      And I think that the Fathers that react to this video get mad because when the guy knocked the hat off, it kinda like they don't want this thing where society labels them as "all the same" but when he knocks the hat off it kinda falls into a stereotype of what people might think of a black man and they don't want to be categorized with that negative stereotype. I guess it makes you look bad when you had nothing to do with it. Idk that how I see it more or less

I wonder about the man he would've been with a father like you in his life but on the flip side he may not have been as involved, loving, and caring as he is with his sons because his father wasn't there. Still that's the one thing I wish for him. I don't feel bad though that I did not get out there and date and find him another one. You can use it to exapand vocabulary horizon because referring to random people on the internet as nigga and snobby asshole is neither respected nor respectable sir, and only shows your stupidity
      Your ignorance doesn't make me a bitch.
      Ignorance tends to carry a negative connotation but it simpley means you've never been afforded the opportunity to learn something. So take this opportunity and go get some education. Or just go fuck yourself ya dick, if that's easier for your tiny brain to digest.

    @kristinadk 6 років тому +705

    Your father is very intuitive...and I completely agree and respect him.... I've never seen this video either and at first I was kinda like "what is going on?" .... Until I had to stop, and listen to the whole story before I judged the whole video...
    That's the problem with a lot of people i've noticed, they focus on the things that bother them the most (because they stand out)... and pretty much ignore the rest (aka, the whole point of the video...)
    Yes, I'm white, Yugo/Slovenian, born in canada.... But when I try to view another persons perspective on life or their stories? I try to put myself in their shoes first.... It's a lot easier to look at both sides before just being ignorant and focusing on one alone (if that makes any sense?)
    ....
    I also LOVE when people pause the videos to make their own points... Isn't that the WHOLE IDEA of a REACTION video?.... Don't worry about the pausing....People need to hear things... Different minds are different thoughts and different thoughts are what make people get out of their comfort zones to think more (outside of the box)... who on earth, wants to stay in one alone? not me... Do your thing
    ....(sorry, i'm kinda typing, while watching)....
    Anyways
    *presses play again*
    .........
    ... *pause*
    .....everyone is going to either hate this about "one side" or this about "another side" when we all bleed, feel, react, and have lives to live... people to love, people to care about and futures to look forward to...
    so.... wtf is the point of all this useless drama towards people? yeah, i understand the past has a huge influence and makes certain people react towards it, but come on guys.... it's 2018...
    Will there EVER be a time we can just be peaceful towards one another without pointless judgment??
    it's better to start a change now.... than later... when it may be too late
    (kinda looks like it's already happening by the way.... just check out the political drama... ) people getting harassed and knocked out for their own opinion on who they support.... pft... What a joke...
    ...
    *presses play again*
    ....
    I agree with your father yet again (not a lot of people can have an open mind like that....) not sure why... either they're too afraid to be honest (which is extremely sad)... or just don't understand how to think... maybe even too young to know... i don't know... many factors...
    but.....
    ..
    Listen guys
    If we don't work together? We'll CONSTANTLY be apart and at war with one another....and honestly? who in their right mind wants that?? i sure as hell don't.
    ....
    Anyways... Your dad is a smart man, and you're very lucky to have him (I can see his legit sense rubbin' off on ya too my dear :P )
    Great video guys...

    Don't worry about the pausing. If I wanted to watch the music vid I would, but I come for CJ and his pops' reactions. Especially for a vid like this, it's important for me, as a white man, to listen to what you two have to say.
    I liked this reaction because even though the main message of the video seems to be about coming to an understanding, your reaction is a reminder that one side has legitimate grievances that are based on historical injustices and prejudices. And that all can't just be forgotten, the wounds can't be erased, just because things are improving in the new generation.
    Then there's the issue that we're the system is broken still and screws a lot of people. We need to keep working to come together, as humans, and fix that system for everyone and stop fighting each other.

      You're part of the problem. "And that all can't just be forgotten, the wounds can't be erased". Shame on you and everyone who thinks this way, what a miserable life you're going to have. I can't imaginane if you actually suffered something, you would be even more rotten on the inside. You don't want to forget and you want to blame people in the present that have not done anything wrong. If you want blame the other side for stuff that happened in the past then blame the black slave owners for selling their own to white europeans. Blame the arabs, blame everyone.

      My friend, let's put the pointing fingers down. Are you not pointing a finger at me right now? I never once said I'm blaming people in the present. Please don't take my words out of context. That quote you pulled out was to do something that many people fail to do: acknowledge and validate pain from past events.

      ehh i'd say they tend to be further on their respective sides, given that they both basically blamed the other race for their problems. It takes a pretty extreme mentality, on either side to do so.

    • @OneyButtwillies
      @OneyButtwillies 6 років тому

      Yes, its definitely important to recognize those sides since the political gap has been widening in recent years. Its good to bridge the gap of those farther apart instead of socially just focusing on groups that already cooporate. Its a touchy topic, so its understandable that people dont want to stir up any conflict.

    • @nogedoge
      @nogedoge 6 років тому +7

      The video was highlighting the extremists on both sides. That's why both people in the music video were making valid points while other times they were being racist. That's why it's called "I'm Not Racist". That is the point Joyner is making.

      noge Exactly. Lucas knew that heavily biased people would quickly take sides while tolerant people wouldn't agree nor disagree with these caricatures, but only understand and empathize with them. Both the video's thumbnail and its title are supposed to mislead people from the very start.

    Great reaction...I really "felt" it! For some of the older generation, Joyner's approach was a pretty harsh way of stating his message. Works great for young people b/c it catches their attention but I understood exactly what your pops was trying to say...he actually said more by saying less. Y'all should do "Dear Rappers" by Tom Macdonald...still controversial but plenty to talk about too.

Poor working class white people and all working class people get fucked over by the elites that don't care about them. And they manipulate them to think black people are the enemy. Holy Hell, I thought the Dad was about to blow a gasket when the video started. As a white man in his mid 40's, I became really uncomfortable when the video started because I was, WTF is this shit?
    I've never heard of Joyner Lucas until this video but, I was a fan of Tupac's in the early 90's until his death and still today in 2018.
    However, in today's climate with everything that has taken place since November 2008 until today, the racial tension in this country is at such a toxic level.
    I'm not going to get into deep regarding my political beliefs but on the surface I'm an Independent voter who leans to the Right in regards to fiscal responsibility and leans towards the Left in regards to social issues.
    I voted for Obama in 2008 and 2012 as I voted for Trump in 2016.
    Anyway, I will never pretend to know what it is like to be a person of color, that would be ridiculous.
    I hate race baiters from all sides and we all know who those people are.
    Anyway, I'm ranting.
    Great video and I look forward to watching more reaction videos from you gentlemen going forward.

      TG Stewart how do you vote for Obama twice and then vote for Trump who is the exact opposite of Obama and what he stood for. I get the fact that you bought into him on the fiscal aspect, but his social views are completely and totally geared towards the white nationalist beliefs and not left leaning one bit.

    • @SSingh-nr8qz
      @SSingh-nr8qz 6 років тому +8

      Nick Hinds - If you ever look at news reports and exit interviews after that vote. You need to factor in a few things. People voted Obama because they wanted CHANGE.They still did when they reelected him. Turns out Obama is just as bad a ESTABLISHMENT POLITICIANS as all the others. He especially pissed off military families, law enforcement, border guards, Muslims, and other groups in the USA with his policies and attitudes. Trump is the ANTI ESTABLISHMENT VOTE. Hillary was the personification of the ESTABLISHMENT. One that is bought and sold by corporate interests and just doesn't care about the American voter. In fact in the last election 2/3 of the American people DID NOT VOTE. They were THAT disgusted with their options. That low voter turn out is common. People just want a government that respect America and it's citizens rather than pimping them out to corporations and power. The reason Trump won has has to do with how BOTH PARTIES ignore large portions of the USA's population and what's important to them. Border security is a big deal if you live on the border. Ending long standing conflicts, is a big deal to soldiers and their families. Calling out corrupt parts of the news and government systems, also a major concern. These are all platforms Trump basically took from the disenfranchised MAJORITY of Americans and just ran on to get elected. Lastly, SOCIAL VIEWS are not as important as EATING AND KEEPING A ROOF OVER YOUR HEAD. If you looked at why MOST of the non coastal States voted the way they did, it had nothing to do with social views. It had to do with the fact their towns are dying and they have to HUNT for food and freeze it because of how bleak their job outlook has been statewide. Let me be blunt. I am not a Trump supporter but I understand why people were pissed at Obama, and why they voted Trump and not Hillary. It's good to know in order to make a better democracy in the future.

    I think the point of the song/video is showing the stereotypes of both races, both how they view the other races (what they are saying) and how they are perceived (how they act in the video). That's why the black man was more aggressive, because that's the stereotype, same time the white man is a fat guy wearing a maga hat. Both perspectives are flawed because the point is to discard stereotypes and instead talk to one another and treat each other as individuals.
    That's my take on it anyway, I realize the video may just be a bit flawed and I'm reading too much into it. Either way I like it because it promotes open conversation, which is never a bad thing.
