    Ive always used a split shot thats about an eighth of an oz pinched on my line about 8 inches above my hook throwing a fluke... this has been a rig that I've thrown on Toledo Bend for 20 years during the spring and I've caught tons of fish on it including some of my best fish. Its amazing to me so many people havent heard of this rig or hates it... the same goes for a Carolina rig but it seems like if you fish on lakes in south Texas or Louisiana, you'll probably see both on every anglers deck this time of the year. Great video as always keepem coming brother!!!

    Ike, I’ve got a rig for you that doesn’t get a lot of video play by most of the fishing channels….a swing head jig. There so many advantages to the swing head jig over a traditional lead head jig…

    • @erniebrightfishing
      @erniebrightfishing Рік тому +2

      That's kinda weird cause I learned of swing heads by watching NJ g you tube videos. I can't remember which channel it was though. Lol. Fishing is about all that comes up on my UA-cam lol. I don't listen to or watch music videos don't care much for TV or movies anymore so I have almost every pros channel and some non pro channels. I'm all about learning and improving at this stage of life and fishing. Good luck tight lines.

      That’s the way to go I do the same , you can adjust your leader length on the fly and don’t damage your line

      It works better when they're straight tails, smaller and rigged upside down/flat side down.

    Hey when we started split shot and hooks is all you had maybe three diff kinds

  • @secretbassrigs
    @secretbassrigs Рік тому +1

    I remember that "drop shot" originally referred to split shot/mojo rigs, in the mid 1990's, S. California. It was before the technique we all call "drop shot" today became popular after it was used by a Japanese angler to win a B.A.S.S tournament. The original cylinder weights sold in the mid 90's were made by the "MOJO" tackle company. They were originally used as inline spinner bait bodies before being sold as weights. If you pour your own lead fishing tackle, the mold is called an in-line spinner bait body mold.

    I may give this a try. The Carolina rig always gets me in trouble with the larger weight.

    Carolina Rig?

    • @erniebrightfishing
      @erniebrightfishing Рік тому +1

      Same as this but Carolina is heavier weight and heavier gear rods reel like hook etc. This is basically a mini Carolina and I wouldn't call it a split shot rig that's Mike's bad. Cause a split shot rig has a split shot weight that doesn't move at all.

    • @secretbassrigs
      @secretbassrigs Рік тому

      @@erniebrightfishing now I remember, the cylinder weights were originally called MOJO weights. The company that sold them was called Mojo.
