I absorbed every word you said. I am compelled now, as a 4M41 Gen 4 Pajero owner, to buy a 1989 NG 3.0 V6 LWB I’ve come across: in the same Champagne colour. $1500 AUD. Low compression on first piston…. I’m thinking an overhaul is probable.
I hate to be a petulant simpleton, but would you be so kind to advise me on a ‘do it right, do it once’ rebuild/freshen up? One that ensures a ‘better than new tickle-up’ experience without compromising too much reliability? And…to be a bit more cheeky? How would you give this old girl a bit of old fashion snarl? Have your way with a runway show of 6G smoke show parts… budget, I don’t know: $15,000 aud.
    Honestly, respect for this video.

My only complaint is I wish mine had manual valve lash adjustment. The hydraulic adjusters seem to always have issues. As for the fuel I see no reason to use premium unless the compression or timing call for it. Mine isn't high compression or race tuned so premium fuel would be a waste in mine.

Nice video. I will add. The 6g72TT has different lifters compared to the other engines. They are very prone to clogging, very easy to upgrade and replace to bigger lifters! If you are planning on buying one such vehicle with the TT and hear little taps from the valve cover dont be alarmed too badly! Though do take into consideration for the noises and wear!

Check the underside and if there are no rust, grab it
