I was at a gliding competition probably in early 2000s and the guest speaker was a RAF pilot who flew a glider in the D day landings. Its something I shall never forget. He was very matter of fact about it all. Also very funny. Made for an interesting night in the club bar! A true gentleman. What a privilege to have met him.
Just like the recently-released dirigible, this is a unique flight experience. Very cool. Plus, as an aside, the glider teaches you to take very seriously the importance of energy management. 👍
With the necessary caution regarding teh flight dynamics in MSFS, specially for gliders, I have to confess that from the video it did appear to offer a very acceptable physics / flight dynamics modelling ! Thank you for the video !
I’m currently training for my glider license IRL… but in much more modern gliders! I can confirm that gliders do suffer from extreme adverse yaw. Those speed brakes were not effective enough and usually, you do land with speed brakes deployed. Awesome review
Speed brakes on gliders are VERY EFFECTIVE... Yes, you always land with speed brakes deployed (aiming - half-way deployed), which is safest way to land, because if you are going low on energy - you can close the brakes, if you are high on energy - extend the brakes more... Similar to motoring flying - add throttle or decrease it.
Lower position is safest, where if glider stays in upper position the things can deteorate within a second... A lot of towing pilots lost their lives in such accidents, where glider pilot stays up... Reason is very simple - if as glider pilot stays low - you will pull towing plane tail down, tow plane will start to lose speed and altitude, glider pulling decrease which will balance the energy. Where if you are high - you pull tow plane up, tow plane accelerates going down, you pull harder the tail up, and mess starts...
Cool demo. i could not get the fly button to work when I selected the glider livery with the C-47. Is it because I selected a destination in flight planner?
Very curious to know how you managed to get it on sale for 8 quid when it's only available from one source which has had it priced at £12.49 from the first day it appeared until now. As far as I know it has never been £8.00.

Lovely to hear the Furrst Officer making herself known again 😊
Great presentation with a touch Theatre... Thank you.... Roger... Pembrokeshire

@@slowtraveler exactly. 👍 in the flight model of this addon though I don’t think the speed brakes are effective enough

It is supper fun to do urban gloder landings in photogrametric cities
Does anyone know if this can be done in multiplayer (eg. a friend flying the c-47)? Or if there's plans for that functionality in 2024?
Well, we'll have it for Market-Garden. So this won't fly one to Normandy or Nijmegen? Would love the Horsa and Hamilcar as well
Looking forward to your C-47 video!
You should do another stream

Does anyone know how I get the C47 in front when I spawn in the glider at an Airfield the C47 isn't in front?
Lest we forget ✝️
Not intended for real world use. I very much hope we never have to again.
Unfortunately man's heart is evil. It's already happening again in Ukraine.

How do you get that tow plane? I get a pathetic small plane that can’t take off
why is this addon payware ?
Glider that saved the world ? How insulting to all the UK & Commonwealth troops that flew into D-Day in the Airspeed Horsa glider.
The glider that 'saved the world' ? Nothing like a bit of hyperbole, eh ? 😂
Should be intetesting, flying one of these legend!🫡
