Last night I super tuned a 33 Authentic I had from many years ago. My dad always loved fishing and I will super tune his old 808 when those bearings get here in a day or so.
I picked up a Zebco 33K, it was filthy dirty but after a good cleaning it clean up pretty good, I changed out the bushings to ball bearings but the drag isn’t working. I followed your instructions to the T, do I need to change out the spool? Or can you tell what I need to do.
The AR's on those can be a little tricky. I doubt it is the spool. Watch this video and make sure your AR actuator and AR pawl are meshing correctly. ua-cam.com/video/sqp9DBwSs-E/v-deo.html

I also have a UL4 Micro Trigger Spin which I haven’t inspected yet. Wonder how many bearings it has. The bearings for my 33 Micro are on back order so I’ll wait and get the hole batch in one order.

Hi Ron. The springs are not available, but you may be able to get the spinner head assembly. It is an EY310-03 Contact support@zebco.zendesk.com and see if they have that part.
I just picked up a new to me rod and Zebco reel for 7 Bucks at a local thrift shop. Is there anyway you can show a picture or video of the proper placement of the little white round plastic piece on the side to side gear by chance?

It seems most of the older 33's can't be upgraded with ball bearings. Can you provide a list of exactly which ones can, not only 33's but other Zebco models as well? I have four Zebco reels of that same basic body shape, a Z03 Pro, Omega, Titanium and Platinum. It appears the Z03 Pro, Omega and Platinum already have the ball bearings. I can't seem to find the specs for the Titanium. Is it a candidate for the upgrade or does it already have the extra bearings?

Question about the push button rails I got the zebco rhino I greased it took it apart cleaned it greased it oiled it every now and then when I push the button to let it go it just stops about 10 ft and that's it never had this issue before you know what would cause this and the best way to fix it would be
One more thing to check. Take the front cover cone off. Push the button. Does the pin retract in? It is possible the spring on the pick up pin was disconnected and needs to be fixed.
Matt - after supertuning my 33 Authentic, the drive gear is slipping on the center shaft gear. I've double checked the placement of the shim washer and anti-reverse actuator on the shaft prior to the new ball bearing and all looks right. Any ideas?
Where did you get your bearings? I wonder of you got ones that are 1/8 wide instead of 3/16. The bearings should be 1/4 x 1/2 x 3/16 inch. If you go to my about page, you can send me a photo to my email.
Thanks for asking! The old "bearings" are actually just a plastic or brass bushing, not a ball bearing. On this older Zebco 33 Authentic reel the bushing is a chrome plated brass bushing and looks just like a ball bearing, but it is NOT. This reel comes with just one ball bearing which is the one on the pinion shaft. The new bearings are ball bearings and will last longer and run smoother. I hope that answers your question.
Rick, all of the 202s I have looked at have bushings which are part of the frame. No bearings or removable bushings at all. So they can only have a basic service; cleaning and greasing. That's it. I will do a video on them in the future.
I use a lighter weight grease that is made for sewing machines. TriFlow. I put that on the shafts and the drags. Then I use a sticky Lucas grease for the gears. It may be easier if you pick up some reel grease and oil from your tackle store if you are not sure what to get.

LOVE my Zebco 33 Micro, use it all the time for pan fishing! 👍
You can super tune a 33 micro and add 2 ball bearing to the handle shaft. Makes it a much better reel.

The AR works fine, its the Drag. It doesn’t tighten up all.

That one probably can't be super tuned. Just clean and lube it.

So sorry to hear that. You can't screw the front cover? Contact Zebco. Any service on that reel starts with taking the front cover off.

Floro does not work on a spin cast very well. It gets embedded in the line on the spool. That's your problem

i love my 33 micro also but i changed line to 8lb test use it to crappie and white bass fish
awesome. Those are nice reels. If you have the standard 33 micro, you can super tune it and add two additional ball bearings to the handle.
