i can't even tell what's happening in this level but it looks like the most precise sub-pixel buffer bullshit i've ever seen, big congrats on getting the golden
this map is actually specifically designed to be as fair and consistent as possible. room 3 isn't fair in its current state but everything else is completely skill reliant.
there are no frame perfects in the MOCE series, which is one of the main design points of the gameplay. the creator had a rule for LXVI that no timing can be less than 3 frames lenient. celeste has a capped framerate of 60fps, so that's 1/20th of a second. one of the ways that the map achieves this is using the freeze frame effect when touching a crystal refill, the game pauses for 3 frames when touching a crystal refill as a visual effect, but inputting in this period will not void inputs and will apply at the end of the freeze frames, allowing the creator to put a freeze frame on an otherwise 1 frame timing to make it a 3 frame timing instead. so if an input looks frame perfect, look if it happens on a crystal refill, because that means its a 3 frame. i don't know if the 3 frame minimum rule applies to CPVL as well because it actually has a few 2 frames scattered about and i don't know if those were unintentional. this is a lot of the reason that LXVI has a reputation for being completely skill based and consistent despite being hard enough to currently qualify as the second hardest map, being behind Dashless+ which is basically specifically designed to be hard by being unfair. there is ONE unintentional 2 frame timing in LXVI that i know of, but its purely accidental, and there are no unintentional 1 frame timings.
@@clantis247 oh wow that’s super cool how it was designed for no frame perfects. That must have taken a long time and shows how much care was put into this map
@@PretzelBS ok correction apparently refill timings are actually 4 frames of true leniency and i have been consistently misinformed for the last year, what the hell
probably not that far but its hard to tell how much of an effect it actually has actually edit it definitely wouldn't, it can only do that if you use some specific golden difficulty definitions that exclude clears or early learning processes. i had like 70h in this before i stopped playing until starting the golden, and i got like a 15 death in that time, which is significantly harder than 9bb as i got the entire golden in 60h while being delayed 30 entire hours due to bad luck.

good god no, this is the third hardest golden, behind O7D1D (unnerfed superbuff of 7d with one dash) and waterbear mountain full clear, both of which have been done by me and ninz. and this is also not the hardest map to clear either, being the third hardest behind D1D7 (O7D1D backwards with minimum changes to make it possible) and dashless+. the final room in this (venus) is also no longer the hardest room beaten anymore being beaten by multiple other rooms, the only three of which i can name are room 13 and 14 of reach for the stars (in development), and room 24 of dashless+. also the top tier speedruns of this game are definitely way harder than anything the modded community has achieved. for example the any% wr is the result of a single person with literally thousands of hours in the game managing to outperform literally over a thousand other runners, while goldeners that are actually capable of doing t0's are comprised of like 5 people, the two of which who have managed to pull through with t0's usually dont even take 200 hours to do goldens. only exception was with me was taking 700 hours on waterbear, which isn't even my hardest golden now, being behind o7d1d which took me 145h, and also i literally waterbear in mirror mode in 70h after a bit under a year later. theres also 2 goldens that have been nearing completion for a while that are likely harder than this, being darkmoon ruins with viddie and passionfruit pantheon / grandmaster heart-side from strawberry jam. viddie has been trying dmr for a while but got put off from a hand injury and ecl1psed got to the second to last room of sjgmhs like a day ago. this was never the top 1 golden, no longer is the hardest to-clear map or has the hardest room, and probably isn't even close to top speedruns, considering the difference in how much dedication was put into each side.
