HI, @yanissmith2400, this may be because your cable power is way lower than the official need of iPad air 5? did you use the same cable the whole time?
My ipad wont charge to even get to these steps. Its on red battery life and the charger keeps showing its plugged in and unplugged when no one is touching it. I tried cleaning the port and still cant charge it

you can try out the force restart method , then change a cable to charge your iPad to see if this help

did you change the cable? if you charge your iPad with a computer that will show not charing message too 😢

you can change a cable to do this and see if this help

It worked, my screen turned all purple which scared me and then returned to normal to resume charging
