Bulk Shooting Feral Pigs, Deer, Foxes & Cats from the Polaris ATV || 6BR Thermal Scope Kill Shots

- This shooting trip I'm out hunting feral pigs, deer, foxes and feral cats. There's bulk 6BR shooting footage in this video with some daytime pigs and deer before we switch over to thermal once it got dark
The grass has definitely gone gang busters with feed levels at 6 - 10 feet high in a lot of the areas we had access to in my mates Polaris XP1000 side by side buggy. Access to a lot of country was just not worth the time with such limited visibility, but we stacked up bulk animals out on the more open stubble fields.
Big thanks to my unnamed mate for the invite out seeking assistance on this contract for pest control. It's a beautiful area to spend time and I'm grateful to get the work up there.
Critters on the deck and not killing native animals and damaging agriculture is the aim of the game. These uncontrolled animals are an environmental and agricultural menace in Australia and are mostly classed as invasive pest species. Shooting feral pigs is purely pest control, these animals are not shot for consumption unlike the deer which are utilised. Bacterial and diseases in feral pigs like brucellosis is prevalent in this area.
Both my mate and I are vertebrate pest control - contract shooters in NSW. For those wondering about the suppressors, we hold the necessary permits in NSW to do so. If seeking information regarding that, please check the FAR webpage for details. All shooting is performed on privately owned farms, with exclusive permission granted in writing for paid services.
Call to action - If you would like to see the continuation of UA-cam channels like mine or others. PLEASE consider joining Patreon for further support.

Mostly I'm shooting my custom Tikka T3 rifle chambered in 6mm BR with a 18" Carbon Six barrel and Hi Tec Industries stock. The suppressor from Shawmac Industries which works amazingly well on this cartridge shooting Speer 75gr Varmint Hollow Points. Regular ammunition I'm shooting Nosler 80gr Ballistic Tips (all reloads). Thermal scope is the Pulsar Thermion 2 LRF XG50. For scanner duties I'm running my Pulsar Merger LRF XP50 thermal binoculars.

To those who are offended by what he is doing - you need to push your emotions aside about Wilber and Bambi being shot and use your rational mind. These animals are INVASIVE to the nation of Australia. They have no natural predators to keep their numbers in check and wrecks havoc on the local human population (farmers losing crops etc) and the native wildlife have to compete. He is doing nature a tremendous favor in eliminating the invasive so that the native animals can come back.
Thanks mate 🍻
Wow u learn something new everyday. Thanks!
Why dont you all introduce some natural predators like big cats?
@@ysdnsinghCats are a big enough problem already. Big cats would pose too great a danger to wildlife, livestock and people.
There are rumours and alleged sightings of black panthers in Aust.
One of my favourite hunting channels, no BS , good ethical shots , no clickbait nonsense
Appreciate it mate 🍻
Ethical shot? There is no ethic in shooting animals!
@@igorbukovy4313 ahhh you must be one of those vegan types... 🤫
@@Froggywentawandering Wrong, I am not.
@@igorbukovy4313 yup, maybe we should use rocket launchers instead 🤔
Excellent video again Nathan and flawless shooting, anyone who has anything negative to say about what you do has clearly not done any research into feral pest damage and management in this country. Keep up the good work mate
Really appreciate it Ben 🍻
@@EDGEoftheOUTBACK
I dont have much to shoot on property unluckily/luckily deer would be nice if they didnt get out of hand.....but none around here yet. Dont get many goats over there?
We have a fair few goats, but they are live caught and sold normally.

Another awesome video Nathan. Some really great shooting in difficult conditions. Love your work on the pigs and foxes. Keep up the good work mate 👍
You’re all doing a great job for the farming community and keeping the stock safe. Taking pigs out of the equation certainly helps the crops too.
Thanks 👍
I love the delicacy with which you dispatch the animals time after time. You really are a top example to many a weekend hunter. As usual, well done Nathan!
Cheers Otto 🍻
Keep up the good work brother and don't worry about what others say because they do not understand what it means to have invasive animals that are wild and causing havoc on native wildlife and farm animals.
These videos make it look so easy, make me feel like coming over there and join the battle. Is there enough hunters there down under? How do those contracts work? Does the Gov. pitch in financially?
Feels like quality of your videos improved significantly. Great editing and transitions. Great shots.
Thanks mate, I'm always trying to improve. New camera gear helps too 👍
The quality of ur filming and videos is getting alot better mate keep up the good work it's much appreciated by the viewers even if you don't hear it much. Nice to see u haven't been censored by UA-cam
Thanks mate, really appreciate the positive feedback regarding content quality 👌. It's always a work in process.
great video on a very professional ethical approach to feral animal control, and "steady" accuracy 100%
Cheers Tom 👌
I'm here for the cheeky commentary and the lights out shooting.
Well done on both!!!
I aim to please 😜
Great trigger work and those sub-sonics are a mighty combination.
Great shootin! Just curious, are deer overrunning these places due to lack of predators? Up here in Canada you can only shoot a few a year, but any boars/pigs are open season lol.
The deer have no legitimate predators in Australia other than the odd wild dog / dingo in some area's.
@@EDGEoftheOUTBACK great to know thanks :) Explains why they're not that skittish compared to up here as well.
They are very hard to approach in the daylight. Poor buggers are thick as in the dark with thermal though. Not any sport it in with thermal but it's efficient control that's for sure.
Good Stuff! Great to see those ferrals go down. I do also cheekily enjoy the Rabbits and hares exploding with centrefire shots!
Who doesn't 😜
Beautiful work there, mate. Thanks again for showing us how it's done properly.
Appreciate it Brad
The cats do make me a bit sad however they are invasive species in Australia who destroy native wildlife. You are a conservationist 👍💪
Just found your channel! Love your content! Starting to learn to hunt here in Northern California and watching channels like your's is very enlightening!
That's awesome you are on the journey Dan. Glad my type of content has helped 👌
@@EDGEoftheOUTBACK well sir, once I learn what I am doing, there are a lot of incredible places to hunt for ferrel hogs here. The invitation is extended!
Beautiful country! Looks like Northern California, though I've never seen grass quite that high. First class shooting as always.
Thanks mate 👌
Bloody plains grass. 2 years of wet weather has made it shoot up.
Big time John
Kids wake me up at 2am.....can't go back to bed. What to do.....watch edge of the outback 😂. As always great videos. Man is that a high target area. Good on you guys! The pard footage is unreal. Great shooting! Baz
Great shooting in tough grassland conditions. Thanks for another enjoyable video 🤙
No worries 👌
Good to see the feral cats being removed. That helps the native marsupials
I agree!
Pity I can't rely on some ppl to hunt Hogs And Deer around here...🤮🐗🦌🦌😡😡🤬
*EDGE of the OUTBACK* Bravo well done, thank-you gentlemen for taking the time to bring us along. GOD Bless.
Appreciate it mate 👌
Awesome yet again🤘🏼😃
Great Job. Protecting the Environment
Excellent shooting young man, and it's looks like so much fun as well. 👍👍👍
We always have a good time 👍🏻
Excellent video and shooting. Anytime you say "dead cat" I'm in.... 🤣🤣🤣
4.45 That's an incredible coat on that deer.
Are these deer invasive? Is that why he wants them all dead?
Keep up the great work for your countries natural resources.
There's a few reasons mate why the deer are being reduced. But there's too many and they have been damaging the crops for months.
@@EDGEoftheOUTBACK - I figured something made sense. It's not in your character to kill species that are native for no reason. Thanks for the feedback brother. Keep making great videos.
With grass being 8 feet tall I can see how that could start a plague of many herbivores.
great videos mate, just wondering do you reload your shells???
Bro how bigs your freezer😂😂. Awesome watch, crack shooting. happy new year🤙🏽
I tried to make it bigger 😂
Definitely the best channel, I actually went and bought a thermion 2 do lrf 50 because of him and how much fun it looks!
That's the go mate
Hello who’s your mate? Rodney Morris? I like him a lot. Say hello to him! Love your channel too much such a good time watching! Keep it up!!! Here from France 🇫🇷 !!!! 💪💪💪💪
Glad you enjoy my channel, no I'm not shooting with Rod anymore. This is another friend.
Happy new year mate, hope you n the family had a great Christmas.
Great vid mate, great start for the beginning of the year 😁👍
Thanks mate, we had a great little break. Glad you liked the video 👌
Nathan once again I don't know how you do it, I have been in that long grass so many times before and not seen a bloody thing let alone make a success of it like you guys did!
Great job by you both of you keep the video's coming I am living through your hunts at the minute thank you!
Glad you enjoyed them mate 👌
Wish I was over there with my Mauser rifle that looks like the best job in the world
Love ya vids bro. What were ya shooting that night?? Sounded very quiet.
Hi mate, just my 6 BR but a mixture of subs in there. The PARD digital scope makes it much quieter than it is too.
Your are doing a awesome job in eradicating ferals in Australia.
I've got cats, foxes and rabbits on my farm in Western Australia and unfortunately can only shoot one at a time,
Because Western Australia's law forbid suppressor's for some ridicules reason.
The ferals are killing my sheep and destroying the native wild life as well as causing excessive erosion.
Well done!!
Thanks Brad, WA and QLD have a uber strict stance on suppressors which is odd. But even in NSW they are very hard to get.
Mate, just stumbled across your channel and it’s unreal.
Great shooting, no nonsense and not to much talking.👍
Appreciate it mate 👌, enjoy.
sorry, but if people don't like hunting vids, then don't watch. Here in New Zealand, we have the same pests to deal with as well including wild stray cats etc .
Exactly 👌
Obviously you have a job to do and you do it well. These thermals tho will be the end of quality deer. The days of big stags and bucks are disappearing as thermals get cheaper and better.
Robbie there's many more factors than that at play.
Did you know that the DPI, LLS and National Parks are currently aerial culling deer over all land spaces in certain area's of NSW. (private property included).
Most people are not aware this is occurring......
I'm totally in love with that daytime scope. It's on my wish list...
Using beaters or helicopters and actual mass killings is the only way that you would have in controlling feral populations of animals like this. It would be nice to be able to capture them and sell them as meat to be used. Unfortunately, this is not realistic.
The government are currently helicopter shooting this area. That's one reason we did this shoot beforehand while we could.
They will eliminate a lot of the animals. Our roll has always been control on specific areas which is much less cost.
Beaters, no this isn't the UK and the geography is huge.
What cartridge and bullet are you using for those subsonic rounds? I haven’t seen anything that quiet even through a suppressor.
Details are all in the video description 👍🏻
Thanks for another great professional shooting video & ya gotta love the “Red Mist” moments. 😎👍🏼
Thanks Ken
Excellent video as always. Accuracy on point as is the sense of humour..👍🏼
Thanks mate
.”freezer filler “ ,, what a good term ,, never tried deer meat
If u could safely you’d burn that long grass
Safely would be the key term and I don't think you'd keep control of it in those big hills 😫
Great to see you back Nathan. As usual Top stuff and hoping you had a Good Christmas and New Year .
Cheers 🍻, you too
What are the rules for how many deer you can take per day, per person, etc. That seemed like a lot of deer to shoot. Kill as many of those hogs as you can!
We can shoot deer just like pigs here 👌. There is no tags or game limits.
As someone who hasn’t done any shooting I find it amazing how accurately you can shoot.
Thanks Steve. I get a little field practice 😎
@@EDGEoftheOUTBACK or maybe you don't show the miss shots ?
Colin maybe you should watch some of my other content if you don't think I show misses. Everyone misses, some just less than others 👌
Top shooting so addictive too watch it’s a pity you leave the pigs 🐖 to waste away they would make good salami or be good in pet food you are a top marksman sir
Thank you Warwick 👌
Another great video Nathan. Lots of accurate shots. Look forward to the next one.
Glad you enjoyed it
Hey mate i absolutely love your work. Fantastic shot you are to. Do you video for your pay as well?
Sorry Dean I'm not sure I understand your question on payment?
Those deer behave more like buffalo when they get shot. Dont run off at all!
Yep, poor buggers cop it with the thermal.
That is an optics with rangefinder and ballistic calculator? What model is it?
PARD DS35 70 LRF (I always lost details in my video descriptions)
hope I´m the first this year. you heartless bastard, how dare you shoot them...just kidding Nathan, love your content. wish you all the best in 2023
Comments have been tame so far
.
So far 😎
Hey mate what setup are you running rifle, suppressor, scope tripod and ammo
Hi Ben. I always try to put a bit of information on the rig in my video description. Also have a build video on this rifle on the channel if you dig back 👍🏻
I watch these on the train. Amazing how people stop looking over my shoulder once they see the little furry animals drop. Keep taking out those bloody feral cats, mate. You're doing the work of the gods out there.
😂 I'm sure one day someone will keep watching (hopefully)
@@EDGEoftheOUTBACK my son and grandson love watching, I know that for sure
You’re making it look easy now mate, nevertheless a great effort 👍
It's never easy 😏. But the video's look otherwise as usual.
So what was the cat count for the weekend? And more importantly. Have you noticed any spike in their numbers since the drought broke?
Cat's are super hard to pin down in my areas as of late, we were lucky to see one on a bank this trip. Just too much grass for them to hide in and they don't wander into the open like foxes do 😫
@@EDGEoftheOUTBACK I've always wondered if you call cats in like you do foxes?
You can I believe but I've never tried. They are just a side show to the pigs and deer on jobs like this.
Excellent as always! I love this channel. I leave a thumbs up always before even watching because I know it'll be great. Never been disappointed yet either.
Glad to hear it mate, the continued support is certainly appreciated 🍻
I love your channel. That countryside is stunning.
Thank you very much!
How hard is it to get approval to own a suppressor there? I understand just buying a rifle is a journey through hell there. I’ve been on many huge type wild hog cull hunts here in Texas and a couple of cull every deer seen hunts. On one big ranch deer cull there were 11 shooters stationed around 16,000 acres. We were told to shoot every deer or pig we could. The two day count was almost 450 animals. Those were the ones that were processed by like 20 volunteers. It was crazy.
Suppressor permits are very hard to obtain, business contract shooting only.
@@EDGEoftheOUTBACK I am continually amazed at how the people there keep electing leaders that want and have basically absolute control of seemingly every aspect of peoples lives. Especially in the firearms control. I just can’t comprehend years and years of the population living under the idiot leadership of the monarchy style government. I’m glad you and others can “ qualify?” to use these weapons etc.
I love watching your videos, keep up the good work. I was wandering couldn't the landowner who you are working for cut some of the grass down with their harvester. It would help you out and it would help the landowner because you'd probably get more kills, just a suggestion.
Glad you enjoy them mate. The grass isn't in crop paddocks, be pretty hard to cut. And some of these properties are like 10-30,000 acres 😳
Cheers for the reply. Like I say keep making the videos and good luck hunting.
Interested when you say about swapping out your optics in the field - are you actually swappinh them on the same firarm, or switching out the whole setup? If you're changing optics, how do you guarantee accuracy?
Yes mate I field swap optics from day to might. I run a high quality Porter Machine Works Unimount and return to zero is bang on.
@EDGEoftheOUTBACK good to know, thanks for the reply!
welcome to the new year :)
Nice shooting and some nice freezer fillers to
Cheers
Jim
No worries Jim
Just found your channel. I hate that there are so many feral animals in Australia but it make for very entertaining video. Thanks.
Welcome to the channel, certainly no shortage of targets 👌
Hi guys thanks again for the great video , knocking a few on the head , Keep up the good work Cliff from Logan city Queensland Australia😊😊😊
Thanks! Will do!
Thank you for doing God's work. Invasive species are the scourge of the World.
Great as always.
I’m constantly pimping your channel to everyone I talk to. Hope you are getting new followers.
Really appreciate that Eric, it certainly helps but this platform is a constant struggle with people being unsubscribed all the time 😢
Awesome video definitely a dream job of mine nd prob most hunters. Good shooting btw
Cheera mate 👌
G’day again and great to watch you out on the hunt again.
I really enjoyed watching, but there was one thing missing!
KFC. No shooting munchies lol.
Great stuff.
Thank you.
Andy
You mustn't have watched it properly 😎. Go back and do it again I'll wait 💪
If aussieland wasn't so buggered by the coastal elites like amerighanistan it would be one of the last gems on the globe.
Still beautiful country to be out and about in. Thanks for sharing.
I can't beleave there is no market for the pigs, when we get the odd pig in the UK they make very good eating, better than lamb!!! Good shooting by the way😁😁
Just got a question, what's the reasoning behind shooting the cats?
Have a Google on it, you'll be suprised. They are a huge threat to our defenseless native animals.
Now that's a good cull of those destructive pests!
Should be no shortage of venison in 'somebody's freezer this month, I evy you guys of that.
in the uk if you shoot deer at night you would lose your liecence and get a HUGE FINE and/or jail time
Thanks Brian, but this isn't the UK.......
@@EDGEoftheOUTBACK i know i was just pointing out the diffrance
one more, is it difficult getting reloading supplies over there
We get shipments in waves. But generally it's niggly.
You might need to give Jim's mowing a call coz your lawns a bit long.
Awesome shooting and plenty for the freezer. Well done mate 👍🏻
I'd love to see a mower tackle that shitte 😂
Just wondering what calibre you used in this one mate ?
Hi Harry, I always list those details in the video description 👍🏻
Always good seeing professionals showing how it should be done. Bonus is the freezer filler.
Appreciate it mate 👌
Another great video, getting better all the time. What sub load are you using in the BR? Keep up the great work. Cheers.
Thanks Joe, I'm running 75gr Speer Varmint HP's for the subs with trailboss powder.
Wow is there no limit on deer I need to come. seems to me you could use a drone to help locate them easer
We have a drone, unfortunately you need to get it really low to see the buggers in the grass. Which often scares them off.
Tough conditions, but I’d still have a field day out there , I’m green with envy
Definitely a trip to remember 👌
Beautiful shots.
Which Subsonic rounds were you shooting?
Thanks mate, they are custom reloads with Speer 75gr Varmint Hollow Points and Trailboss powder 👌
Hey mate, any chance you can make a video on Indian Mynah Birds?
Sorry they are a target of opportunity. I wouldn't get the content volume for a video specifically on them.
Happy New year Nathan. Great shots in not the best of conditions, plenty of deer meat though. Just as a matter of interest, how many freezers do you have ? 🤔🤔
Definitely not enough ATM 😞
Love the videos! Keep up the good work and the content!
Question to satisfy my curiosity, and I don't mean to be negative or nit-picky, but: I've noticed in a lot of your videos that your bolt operations sound really "dry" and you seem to struggle with the operation of the bolt occasionally on follow-up shots, or in rapid-fire target-rich environments...What are you using to lube the bolt lugs, inner rails, and rear cam ?? I keep feeling like a dab of Moly grease or a good synthetic thin grease, just a little applied and left to work-in might make a world of difference... ( If you ARE using something, and it's just because your action is really tight, then I apologize and just want to know what you're using..). It just sounds so "raw" in the videos. (It might just be the action you are using, too. I'm used to Rem 700's, an Accuracy International, and SAKO's, which are all rather heavy steel. Your metallurgy and construction might be very different.)
Hi Scott, that's just audio which makes it sound off. The scope microphone is straight over the action and IMO sounds terrible. Rifle is a Tikka with a fluted bolt running on ToughGlide, she's smooth as 👌. Anything wet or tacky is a bad idea on a bolt in my areas, hence I like the lubes that dry as a film. They turn into a dust magnet on the quad or SxS if it stays wet.
@@EDGEoftheOUTBACK Understood, and thanks for the reply. Up here in Bushy Ontario, Canada, the wet lubes are king to prevent moisture becoming a problem. Totally feel you on the dry lube for dusty hunting outings. I use a hot wax lube on my bicycle chains for the same reason.
What were the last animals shot? I couldn’t make them out.
Just some foxes mate
Shit! How many animals are you allowed to take down? Just whatever you want? Love the vids tho
If they are a feral animal, we have no game limites.
@@EDGEoftheOUTBACK I figured it was something like that
Damn Son ! wit shootin like that , you don't have 2 be a tracker !! Beautiful Work !
Deer are feral also, No Permit ?
