Happy New Year Nath, mate that was an awesome video. Whilst some people don't realise the expense and the effort that you have put into producing this channel, I now have an even greater appreciation. The planning, the equipment and the actual hunting all take a lot of time and effort not only before and during but also afterwards in the editing studio. A Hearty Well Done for your fantastic contribution.👍👍😎
Hunting pigs with a bolt action 308. Sounds like something I'd do. Great job working that rifle. And my condolences on the shortage of chicken at KFC in Australia.
All good, gees it's only just over 2 weeks since my last video. The platform decided to demonetise this video last weekend so I delayed making it public to dispute the decision 👍
Hi Nathan, great to get you back. I hope that you were able to take a break with your family over the new year. Yours is the only shooting channel I watch/am subscribed to because I respect your standards and ethics. Feral control is the bottom line or the occasional hunting for food. No slaughter as I have seen in the past with some channels. I also find your explanation of the countryside interesting, so keep up the commentary on the local environment. The lambs reckon that if they stand next to you then they are safe and won't get shot or attacked by feral dogs. Looks like they could have been bottle fed orphans. Keep up the good work and stay safe.
Nice point about the light on the vehicle. I use a solar garden light ( el cheapo Bunnings $2 type) mounted on the top of the pole of my orange flag on my 4x4. My step dad walked around the country ( literally, the entirety of Highway 1) a few years ago, having previously walked from Freo to Melbourne, and a couple of years later, from Melbourne back to Freo. I set him up with the same setup on his buggy he pushed ( modified jogger pram) as he was starting to walk around 4am to avoid walking in the heat of the day.
@@ldvan100 yeah, the Melbourne-Freo walks were both around 3500km (2180 miles) and the Highway 1 circuit was around 18,500km (11,500 miles)! He kneeded (😝) both knees replaced afterwards. He tried another walk (Ballarat goldfields to Kalgoorlie goldfields) last year against the advice of his Orthopod) , but gave up after about 250km. Take care, mate.
Awesome footage as always and Great work on getting rid of a few pigs! The grass made it tough but you were skilled enough to work it to your advantage and sneak up on a few pigs and a cat!
Every dead feral pig makes me happy. Your thermal work is amazing. I know nothing about hunting but have 2 questions. With the ATV, given some of those washouts your seeing would you consider some type of roll cage? Especially if on your own and isolated with no mobile coverage. Does the landholder or yourself harvest any meat or is it left where it falls? I've heard pigs will eat just about anything including a carcass.
Hi, the feral pigs are just carrion here. In Australia they can carry disease and parasites. Unless you are very careful at checking these animals it's not worth eating them.
Always enjoy seeing animals say their final goodbye when they don't belong here. Some nice bloody sizes too. Thanks Nath, every one dead is one less alive. Getting lost at night brings back memories of trying find my way back after I lost sight of the flood light I would leave on front and back of the farm house. Was 24000 hectares but I could usually see it from a few k's away every ten minutes or so. Took me an hour of paddock and scrub bashing aswell as getting stuck driving down a creek bank I didn't see in a chopped Datsun 200B. Only got 4 foxes and a couple of cats that night.
Mate..your production and editing skill is becoming as refined as your shooting..unreal and just wow from me. These episodes should be on a Foxtel channel or something. Your skill is appreciated 🤙🏼
1 gripe I have about goats when a farmer says don't take down the goats they are worth money and never seein goats in a pen ready to be sold okay they are worth money go round them up then. I could be completely wrong and not knowing what I'm on about this has happened now on about 4 farms iv been on now if they are in a pen or paddock that I get and I'll leave them alone not just climbing a mountain then that's fair enough ? it's hard as you want to do right by the farmer but you also are also out there for your own thing holiday/hobby what ever it is called
Matt my primary aim is to abide by the farmers rules. If it works in for me professionally or recreationally - Fantastic. But they don't see things from a hobby, only damage, cost or income which is 100% understandable. These guys do a annual goat round up, so they are just in the hills until that happens.

Hey Nathan, question from left field here, considering the time you spend in the bush at night with thermal imaging - have you ever picked up the heat signature of anything weird or unidentifiable?
Thank you for sharing your experiences. I was especially interested to hear how well the 150gr SST projectiles fared. I know that the 243W 95gr bullets work well on deer, but no idea how well they would work on pigs. If I can only get onto some property owners with pig troubles who are willing to give me a go! Hope you get that cat next time!!!
Was nice to see that quick 2nd shot on the goat, i dont like to see critters suffer. Love that reticle mate. great for field use. Lotta guys use way too much clutter in the scope. Its a real pity we cant use sound suppressors for our culling programs. Frustrating as hell comeing onto a mob of roos feeding quietly, and only getting 1 clean headshot before the lot hit the bounce and bolt. Same with mobs of pigs. let one off and they scatter. makes it a lot harder to get their numbers down.
@@EDGEoftheOUTBACK we can only hope mate. I know South African professional shooters harvest antelope in an almost identicle manner to us Pro roo shooters, but they can run suppressed. Your videos are strangely quite relaxing for me. I think because I have a strong dislike for feral animals on the land. Rabbits, wild goats, pigs, foxes, cats, and cane toads, to name a few. I'm living close to suburbia so my only contribution is going out at dusk and splitting cane toads in half with a golok chopper. I'm averaging three a night, which isn't much, but removes potentially another 10 thousand toads from future life each night.
American here. I was hoping that one shot that you took with the two pigs and the premium .308 bullet would give you a "twofer", the rear one was almost eclipsed by the front one that you shot, I managed to get the pair with a single 180 grain Nosler partition bullet, but I know that mushroomed bullets don't always follow a straight path, it doesn't happen often, but it is SO satisfying when you can. I've heard that it is easier with an arrow or crossbow bolt, waxing the head and greasing the shaft helps penetration. But I'm not an archer, I have no personal experience on that. Happy hunting. 🙂
Great stuff. Love your work. Is it wrong to wish that you had a belt fed m60 mounted to the atv when you come across a big mob of pigs? Just for research purposes.

G'day mate, would love to know more about you rifle set-ups, makes, models calibres etc and why you choose them. Maybe a good topic for a video away from the paddocks. Cheers Andrew 👍
Great shooting and tip about the low power red light to lead you back to your vehicle! Nothing like being confused at night and wasting a lot of time walking in the wrong way looking for your ride! Right now, it’s too cold in Texas to be outside any longer than you need to be at night!
nothing better than turning on the puter, and seeing one of you vids! must say,if I were a hater, you would on top of the list, fricken 550 meter kill shots!! fukkin amazing!
Between my two rifles it's hard to compare. The 308 is about 10lbs, short barrel and no brake. My 6.5PRC is about 13lbs and has a muzzle brake. The 308 thumps worse.
Are these goats and hogs any good for eating? The large majority of hunting here in South Africa is for the pot. We shoot for trophies as well but that still goes to the pot. Hoping to spend some time in Queensland to further studies and would love to go hunting while I'm there.
Hi, the feral pigs are just carrion here. In Australia they can carry disease and parasites. Unless you are very careful at checking these animals it's not worth eating them.
This video covers up your 'absence' over the past while Nathan. nice trip all 'round! Thanks for the entertaining and enjoyable 25 minutes in this one.
@@EDGEoftheOUTBACK Ahhh, I haven't seen a video from you over the past couple of weeks, which is normal I know, but what with the 'lock down' here etcetera, time drags somewhat, and I thought you've been longer than you actually were. Oh well.
Glad you are enjoying things. Feral pigs are just carrion on most shoots. In Australia they often carry disease and parasites (worms, tuberculosis, brucellosis etc). Unless you are very careful at checking these animals, it's not worth eating them.
G'day, just started watching your show think its great love to see the cats go down. I know you can't tell me where you are shooting but can you tell what state you are in please.
Nice work. How did you start out approaching property owners to get on all these amazing places. They’re probably just contacting you now, seeing how efficient and professional you are. Nice to see.
Absolute great job ! Your staring 👊👍! I have a quick question, and this might be silly to some, but why can Americans eat hogs, and we can’t here in OZ? Is there some parasite that is toxic to us and not America ? Again sorry if this is a stupid question, but I luv eating pork 🙈🙈😂👍! Again great work 🍻👍
Baiting with another animal is illegal where I live so this was kind of weird to watch tbh but great vid man. N that orange thermal is soooo much better then black and white
Glad you liked the video mate. When dealing with hugely damaging introduced species like foxes and wild dogs (on a sheep station). Baiting can work well with carcasses. Unfortunately in this instance I didn't reap anything 😩. Last trip I mopped em up in the same scenario so go figure 🤷♂️
Yes they are wild animals but do eat weeds. Also they poop the seeds everywhere spreading them back around unfortunately. They are often rounded up and sold as farm income though. Hence its not open slather on dropping them all.
Nice work mate. The Bergara is certainly showing its worth. Long grass and quads can certainly be a challenge especially when the sun goes down. Keep doing what you do as we all enjoy it...........
@@EDGEoftheOUTBACK I didn't realize it was discontinued. I used a couple Thermions early on with it. Well, BUMMER! Still a very cool video. Enjoyed watching.
For 308W, I am a big fan of the 125gr Ballistic Tip bullets. They are extremely efficient varmint bullets on coyotes (about the same size as a wild dog). Broadside, a 125gr BT will produce a 3" exit hole in a 30lb coyote.
I ran 130gr Speer HP's for a time. Perfect broadside on pigs. Awful on an angled shots 😩. 150gr and above is what the 308Win needs to deck pigs running off at odd angles 💥
Bloody outstanding !!! Love seeing the notifications of a new vid loaded up, and even more so watching what you do, careful, professional yet also human... Little pointers, no bloodlust yet efficient in your work. Do not stop! Big Ups from across the ditch mate....
Now that was an awesome way to start the year! Great looking country too. Too bad about the bloody cat. Lol you should get sponsored by KFC !! Cheers for sharing as usual bloke. 🇭🇲🐗🐗🐗🐗🦊🐈🐏🐏🇭🇲

What bullet are you using in your 6BR? I have long used the Nosler 125gr Ballistic Tip in my 6BR for gophers. Gophers are ground squirrels and we shoot them by the thousands. :)
Great video just a small tip get a Bushnell backtrack they’re very small turn on at the quad turn off after reaching signal then turn off until you want to get back it will give you the way back on screen every time have been using one for 5 years absolutely priceless

That's a huge American misconception. I get this comment a lot, clearly the NRA propaganda is incorrect. I believe a lot of the footage they use it from 1996 😳. We need to be licensed and have a genuine need for firearms (not self defence). Semi auto's are heavily restricted.

Great shooting and tip about the low power red light to lead you back to your vehicle! Nothing like being confused at night and wasting a lot of time walking in the wrong way looking for your ride! Right now, it’s too cold in Texas to be outside any longer than you need to be at night!
Thanks mate. Being on the other side of the world will do that. You guys will have heat and humidity soon enough and we will be mid winter.
nothing better than turning on the puter, and seeing one of you vids! must say,if I were a hater, you would on top of the list, fricken 550 meter kill shots!! fukkin amazing!
😂 Glad you enjoyed it at the least 😝
U tube must b run by meat haters as they upping video making hunters. U don’t get lost Nathan…just miss placed😉 I’ve been misplaced plenty of times🤣
Happens to us all 😩
As far as recoil and muzzle blast, is there a noticeable difference between 6.5prc and 308?
Between my two rifles it's hard to compare. The 308 is about 10lbs, short barrel and no brake. My 6.5PRC is about 13lbs and has a muzzle brake. The 308 thumps worse.
All my life I wish to do that with your doing one love brother👍
Glad you enjoyed it. Past absence?
@@EDGEoftheOUTBACK Ahhh, I haven't seen a video from you over the past couple of weeks, which is normal I know, but what with the 'lock down' here etcetera, time drags somewhat, and I thought you've been longer than you actually were.
Oh well.
Haha if the channel name didn't give it away that you're an Aussie, the Mr Squiggle reference certainly did. Take my like!
Good one!
Great video. Those pigs are a huge problem here in South Texas. I didn't realize that feral goats were a problem.
Everything feral is often a problem over here 😩
Just come across your channel mate. Crikey! Great shooting! Do you leave your kills in the bush?
Glad you are enjoying things. Feral pigs are just carrion on most shoots. In Australia they often carry disease and parasites (worms, tuberculosis, brucellosis etc). Unless you are very careful at checking these animals, it's not worth eating them.
"Dragging them around is too violent... so we'll just shoot stuff" ha ha ha ha LOL comedy gold.
All you can do is laugh, sadly that is legit what was ruled on two of my recent videos where I dragged animals (that I'd shot 🤦♂️). Crazy eh.
I thaught bacon only splatters in the frypan.😅
G'day, just started watching your show think its great love to see the cats go down. I know you can't tell me where you are shooting but can you tell what state you are in please.
Hi Dags, I always generally tag my video's for a rough location 👌. I'm in the Hunter Valley, NSW.
Great footage. Lucky you . Get something with a smaller faster bolt through . Maybe more hogs . More footage
Still gotta aim, it's not the short action bolt cycle that slows me up 😩
Hey mate great video. Just want to know what thermal your running. Just looking at getting into some night thermal shooting myself.
Hi Simon, the full details of what I'm shooting is always in the video description 👍🏻
Big fella your doing alright. Great video , good shots , nice equipment.... Happy hunting 🇦🇺🏁👍
Thanks Trev 🤙
Nice work. How did you start out approaching property owners to get on all these amazing places. They’re probably just contacting you now, seeing how efficient and professional you are. Nice to see.
I could make a whole series on gaining access. Sometimes it's just luck 🤞
Good shooting ,want to get thermal and suppressor then be ready. Taken 3 pigs so far 2 Thanksgiving and 1 a week ago
They are a great tool Henry if you have the use for it. Not bloody cheap that's the downside.
hey u and stu should tryin hook up for a shoot if possible. thatd make a great vid. 2 off the best aussie hunting channels that i follow anyways.
Thanks mate 👌
Fk me mate!!! How far was them 1st ones???Brilliant shooting😍😍😍👍
A lot of these pigs in the grass were first shots around 15 meters I'd guess just to see them.
Again great work 🍻👍
Another great video, happy new year from Michigan USA!
Happy New year to you and the family mate 👌
Baiting with another animal is illegal where I live so this was kind of weird to watch tbh but great vid man. N that orange thermal is soooo much better then black and white
Glad you liked the video mate. When dealing with hugely damaging introduced species like foxes and wild dogs (on a sheep station). Baiting can work well with carcasses. Unfortunately in this instance I didn't reap anything 😩. Last trip I mopped em up in the same scenario so go figure 🤷♂️
Are the goats wild/feral also? Goats in the US are being used to remove a lot of unwanted non-native weeds etc….
Yes they are wild animals but do eat weeds. Also they poop the seeds everywhere spreading them back around unfortunately. They are often rounded up and sold as farm income though. Hence its not open slather on dropping them all.
Great work champ,
the sheep are following you coz you have saved them from a horrible slow death by feral dogs and foxes :), you are their hero
Nice work mate. The Bergara is certainly showing its worth. Long grass and quads can certainly be a challenge especially when the sun goes down. Keep doing what you do as we all enjoy it...........
That's the plan, well at least while we kinda can 😩😩😩
Great outing mate.
I'm really enjoying the effort you're putting into the daytime footage.
Quality is great!
Thanks mate. Appreciate that you acknowledge it, certainly is a bit of work.
Why not use the recoil activation feature on the Pulsar to help make sure you get quick shots recorded?
There is no recoil activation on the newer Pulsar thermals that I'm aware of. I probably would otherwise 👌
@@EDGEoftheOUTBACK I didn't realize it was discontinued. I used a couple Thermions early on with it. Well, BUMMER! Still a very cool video. Enjoyed watching.
Thanks mate. I'll check the menu system again but I'm pretty sure it's not there anymore.
@@EDGEoftheOUTBACK I don't think it will be. After reading your post, I checked the new manual online. NOT listed. :-(
For 308W, I am a big fan of the 125gr Ballistic Tip bullets.
@@EDGEoftheOUTBACK Yeah, makes sense, I am sure pigs are much heavier built than a coyote, which are surprisingly svelt once you get the fur off them.
Bloody outstanding !!! Love seeing the notifications of a new vid loaded up, and even more so watching what you do, careful, professional yet also human... Little pointers, no bloodlust yet efficient in your work. Do not stop! Big Ups from across the ditch mate....
Appreciate it mate, cheers 🍺
Now that was an awesome way to start the year!
Great looking country too.
Too bad about the bloody cat.
Lol you should get sponsored by KFC !!
Cheers for sharing as usual bloke.
🇭🇲🐗🐗🐗🐗🦊🐈🐏🐏🇭🇲
😂 I'd be even fatter if they sponsored me 😂
@@EDGEoftheOUTBACK
Lmfao.... trust me!!
I hear you loud n clear on that!
All 102kg's of me!!👍😁
Entertaining again mate do you eat the pigs as I am a retired butcher keep the films coming 👍
Hi, the feral pigs are just carrion here. In Australia they can carry disease and parasites. Unless you are very careful at checking these animals it's not worth eating them.
What bullet are you using in your 6BR? I have long used the Nosler 125gr Ballistic Tip in my 6BR for gophers. Gophers are ground squirrels and we shoot them by the thousands. :)
Are you sure you mean a 6mm 125gr BT? I run 80's in my 6BR @ 3222fps and they are fantastic.
@@EDGEoftheOUTBACK Sorry, screwed that up. I use the 70gr Nosler BT's in my 6BR.
The 125 BT's in a 308.
Great video just a small tip get a Bushnell backtrack they’re very small turn on at the quad turn off after reaching signal then turn off until you want to get back it will give you the way back on screen every time have been using one for 5 years absolutely priceless
Great video do y’all ever eat those pigs here in Mississippi in the USA we love to smoke those sizes
Hi, the feral pigs are just carrion here. In Australia they can carry disease and parasites. Unless you are very careful at checking these animals it's not worth eating them.
was about to say weres ur kfc and then it was there awsome vid again. grass is stupid high great shootin dude.
Gotta have the KFC mate 👌
I'm completely confused about Australian gun laws. I thought you guys were almost completely disarmed. Please educate me.
Thanks!
That's a huge American misconception. I get this comment a lot, clearly the NRA propaganda is incorrect. I believe a lot of the footage they use it from 1996 😳. We need to be licensed and have a genuine need for firearms (not self defence). Semi auto's are heavily restricted.
@@EDGEoftheOUTBACK
Oh, okay, thanks. You're doing a great job.
You need to bring guests along and charge them. I'd pay money for that hunt.
Thanks mate 👌, unlikely that would happen but who knows.
Hasn't your Honda got an emergency pull start for when the battery won't start it?
She's a Suzuki mate. My old Honda did, not this one unfortunately.
Gday mate, absolutely love your work. Can’t BowHunt anymore so changing over to the Thunder Stick, really looking forward to doing something I did when I was a whole lot younger. Be great to run a few things by you I’m not 100% sure on with all new Tech etc, how can I send an email or contact yourself, cheers
Hi mate, Patreon in the upper tiers is the place for contact and advice. Sorry I can't cover everything publicly anymore.

...up the quacker...?!?! 😂🤣. Bro that’s a really good one! Never heard that quote before hear in Mo., USA. Stay safe out there.
Thanks mate, we have a few odd terms that's get spat out in the moment over here 😉
Actually its 'Up the clacker'.
Aw no not the white Judas goat they make the mob easier to spot far away😂
Great shooting :)
Plenty of white ones, they are pretty easy to find compared to other species anyway. Glad you liked the video 👌
Reminds me of my area here in the U. S. .. Good job on the feral pigs... Keep'em coming Amigo
That's the plan mate 😀
i reversed a quad into one of those holes a couple of year ago and that was back against a barb wire fense
Owch
Nathan, nothing like bunking down in the shearers quarters during the day for some shut eye. Great video mate.
Not much else to do in the heat eh 👍
@@EDGEoftheOUTBACK especially when you've been out all night spot lighting and whacking those ferals. I wouldn't have it any other way mate.
Great video! Look forward to more.
Thanks mate 👌
Do you not shit yourself thinking about brown snakes at night? Great channel.
Nah, there's plenty of other colours that are just as bad 😂
@@EDGEoftheOUTBACK I spent time working on a farm in the Blue Mountain I did kind of get used to life with them kinda things but we didn't go out into the Bush at night or leave the samp fire if we were out after the sheep, fair play fella
Fantastic start to 2022. As usual totally professional in every way.
Great stuff Nath.
Thanks Russ 👍
Great video…thanks! 👍🇦🇺
Glad you liked it Carlin 👍
Great work Nath, awesome video had to watch it again!!! To all those out there in UA-cam land if you wanna see a better version of this video and many more jump onto Nath's patreon

4:46 you could have gone for the texas headshot hahaha
Good evening, please can you tell us what you do with all the pigs you have shot?
Hi, the feral pigs are just carrion here. In Australia they can carry disease and parasites. Unless you are very careful at checking these animals it's not worth eating them.
