Livestock Protection Foxes and Feral Cats
Вставка
- Опубліковано 4 чер 2023
- Livestock protection is critical to the farming industry. In Australia Foxes have been declared a national introduced pest. They are not native. With numbers at an all time high, predation on defenceless lambs is an ongoing struggle.
Patrolling around large flocks of sheep and surrounding bushland with roof mounted thermal on my vehicle allows large areas to be covered quickly and thoroughly.
This contract was on 4 neighbouring properties. 47 foxes were permanently relocated and 1 huge feral cat, resulting in 4 very happy farmers. Will be heading back down there in another few weeks to clean up what's left.
My setup this trip was my Sako 85 Hunter chambered in .223 topped with the Pulsar Thermion2 Pro XP50 LRF, running 55gr ADI World Class factory ammunition. Suppressed with the SCSA Q2 moderator. My handheld is the Pulsar Helion2 Pro XP50 and I'm running the HikMicro Panther PQ50L mounted on the roof and wifi'd to a screen in the vehicle.
I would appreciate it if you would give this video a thumbs up and also click the Subscribe button and check out my other content so you can assist me in making these videos for you all to watch. It really does help with the UA-cam analytics.
Enjoy and don't forget to "SAY G'DAY".....

There's feral animals...and then there's the feral cats. Always a celebration when ever one those sods get taken out, they do so much freaking damage, and they're much hard to find than the foxes. A very good trip by the looks of things Rod. We thank you for the work that needs to be done.
Thanks mate. Huge bonus finishing the trip with that big bugger. 👊
keep up the good work Rob I watch you regularly Cheers Marcus.
Thanks Marcus. 👌
Here in the US the serious problem is feral pigs...they destroy thousands of dollars worth of farmland. In some states you do not even need a permit to hunt them. In my rural area we are over run with coyotes. Local government will not allow anyone to hunt them, so, there we are. No more stray cats or turkeys since the coyotes moved into the area.
@@RJMHuntingAustralia There are millions of feral-cats are decimating native species, especially the reptiles, birds & marsupials. Can you post a video dedicated to feral cats?
I’m a true believer that there’s no caliber too big for a cat , the more parts that go flying the better
Haha. They're good fun with the 308. 😜
"Humane calibre" is always the largest you have at your disposal.
Absolutely
Oh! Yeah.Have to agree with that.🧓
@@shelfridges i agree for all animals besides feral cats
Fifty shades of Gday Bloody Love it Cheers and the pressie in the letterbox ,Strayan Cheers
Thanks for that mate 👍
G`DAY Rod well done another great service to the Natives and the Farmers
Cheers Brad. Appreciate that mate. 👊
You're got to be a very effective hunter and a born killing machine to make a living wearing bright white in a green and brown environment, even at night, the slightest moonlight would be a give away and that beast wasn't thin. Bravo Sir !, you've saved thousands of little birds [ in the nest ] and other animals.
Very cunning and effective killing machines. Makes my day every time I get to put one to bed permanently. 👌
Good traps.
Awesome trip. Congratulations on ridding the bush of ferals, particularly cats!!!!
It sure was mate.
Thanks 👊
Great vid, some great shots and a fantastic sticker, lol 👏👏🤣😁 typical Nathan antics...
Thanks mate 👊
You don’t miss much! Between the efforts of you and Nathan I’m surprised there’s any foxes left. Absolutely great video. Please keep em coming. I’m doing similar in Scotland
That's great buddy. It so cool to hear from like minded people on the other side of the world. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment. Much appreciated 👊
It's a big country and there are plenty of places for the ferals to hide.
Somehow I don't think I'm going to run out of work anytime soon.
Good for you Scottie. Look after those Black faces, and others in my homeland.
@@highphysics3617 that’s no way to talk about our First Minister
Great shooting, good to see someone confident in their ability to take on long shots rather than mucking about with a caller.
Thanks mate. Comes with lots of practice and a compatible relationship with your rifle. I do prefer them closer as it makes for better video clarity however when your on the clock, results are all that matters. 😉
Very nice work on the red coats. Allways get a chuckle when you have to say gday to get there attention. Nice work.
Can't help myself 😉 👊
Good Day !!!
love love when you get feral cats in your videos!
I do too mate. Don't cross paths with all that many on the places I shoot unfortunately 😕
"These two were having a great time. Emphasis on 'were'.". 😂
Love the videos. Always great to see a new one in the feed. Nice shooting.
Appreciate that mate. Thanks 👍
Great work Rod, and hilarious at the same time with all the G'days. 😂
Looking forward to your next adventure.
Thanks mate.
Gotta have a little fun with the buggers. 😅
@@RJMHuntingAustralia not wrong. It is entertaining
👊
Struth, you really know how to make a bloke jealous ay, well done and keep it up especially them mongrel mogs Cheers
Lol. Thanks mate. Always a bonus when you get to drop a cat. 👌
Cheers from the states! Keep up the good work saving your local native species from invasive predators.
Thanks buddy 👊
Good shooting as usual mate, just a thought. The farmer’s wife didn’t say when you got to the homestead, “you haven’t seen my cat have you” 😂😂😂
Nah mate. I always check with the property owners as to what is on the menu.
No pet cats within coooeee of this place.
Amazing rifle and skills,i'm a new follower of this great channel.
Thank you 👍
Loved the Fox hook so much I made myself one. Works a treat. My son now has a new job. Dragging dutes. Keep up the great content.
Haha. Good stuff mate. 👏
Great job, as always. Fantastic long shots with minimal clarity through the thermal.
Thanks mate. The clarity in the gear these days is definitely improving. 👌
You are the best !!! Funny And all such a good time watching your videos! Cat everywhere, wrong time wrong tree 🌲! You two have been having fun until you got a 223! Such a great time!!!! Keep it up Mate!!! From France 🇫🇷 always there!!!
Love these videos Rodney🙌 that was absolutely awesome 👌
Love hearing positive feedback from you guys. Thanks mate. 👊
Some very good shooting mate 😊
Cheers mate 🍻
great shots
Thankyou 👊
That's some excellent shooting Rodney, just love the old Aussie "Gday", I tried it once up here in dear old England, and it shot off so quick 🤓🤓🤓🤓
Haha. That's hilarious.
Already educated 😅
When you said "got back to the house" I was thinking, maybe that cat is the owners pet. But I'm sure they keep them inside at night.
Great video, Love the "gday mate". lol
Nah. The property owner doesn't have any cats and I'm on strict instructions to shoot them on sight. Win win.
great aim on em as well
Thanks buddy
Cracks me up every time to you say G'day and the mugs stop, turn and look straight at you.
Works every time. Well, almost 😅
I love the way you say good day should be followed by goodnight 😅
Hi Rod, I've been following Nathan for some time and have now subscribed to your channel. Love seeing cats being taken out. Cheers from Adelaide.
Welcome aboard mate. I appreciate the support.
👊
Great work mate, I remember those fuckers being everywhere and I think it was 40 aud a pair of fox ears in Victoria back when I lived there, but as a non citizen it would have been hard for me to get permits.
G'day from France
Thanks mate. No money in them anymore unfortunately
Greetings mate from Christchurch, NZ. Love the videos but more so your humour in your comments which crack me up as all you're doing is keeping it real. The .223 sorts out those Foxes & Feral Cats. Keep up the Good work fella.
Haha. Cheers mate.
I generally just boot the peanuts from the channel.
Sometimes I just can't help myself. 🤦♂️😅
Some seriously good shooting there👏
and thanks for the 🐈⬛
Appreciate that mate. 👍
Well done again Rod. Between you and Nathen your doing a top job.🤠
Appreciate that mate 👍
Bogs are great i also love there tractor tread soles . Thanks for video .
Your very welcome mate. Thanks for watching 👊
Nice work as usual. Love the G'day to get their attention.
Might have to trademark that one 😅
Love the video and the gdays if you can put the distance on more of the shots it would be awesome thank you keep up the great work
Thanks mate will do. 👌
Well done on the vermin, how to spot the vermin?, with a thermal hand held and then shoot off the tripod?, or pick up with a spotlight then thermal.
We cover a lot of ground not practical to scan with a thermal.
Everyone talks about cats but see/shoot very few, 1cat to 40 foxes, nearly all cats around sheds/houses/rock heaps or once rabbit warrens.
Agree on all accounts mate. Roof mounted thermal helps with covering large properties quickly. Still use a torch to scan for foxes with on some properties then shut down and go to thermal.
Love it top stuff good to see the red panthers get it the cat 🙀 well I hope ya fi d a few more that 223 is dialled in. Cheers again for vid.
Thanks for that mate 👍
Great shooting. Always a happy time when you upload a foxing video. Thanks
My pleasure mate. Appreciate the support 👍
Good day , A good night out , I liked the cat bit .
Cats always seem to be popular amongst my viewers. Love to make a video just shooting those buggers.
Love how clean your kills are
Thanjs mate.
Even though they're a pest I like to be ethical. The right calibre and good shot placement is everything.
I think all the "Gurls" came running to you was they knew it was safer next to you. Either that or they saw the red light and thought it was a place to make some side $$$$ 🙂
Pmsl. No comment 🤣
Great shooting
Thanks buddy 👊
Your aiming is off the charts. You have some serious skill!
Much appreciated mate 👍
Never get tiered of your quality content you use that gun like its a magic wand keep up the great work its well appreciated
Thanks for that mate 👊
Excellent shooting from Central Illinois, USA.
Appreciate that mate. Thankyou 👊
Thanks for the video. That is a good haul on the foxes, and the scattered feral cat. Cheers from Texas.
Thanks mate.
Great way to finish off the trip. 👌
From one Rod to another, great video and great shooting. No wonder you are friends with Nathan, another top bloke doing fantastic work.
Appreciate that mate. Thanks 👊
love how the scope make blood or brain matter visible from far away after kill shot deadly wicked
Definitely a very visual perspective especially with high calibres mate
Awesome video Rod. There must be a lot of foxes down there. Well there were😉
Haha. Thanks Josh.
This was my 3rd visit in 4 months. I'll get on top of them soon enough. 🤞
Gday mate 👍👍👍👍 top vid mate …from the west 🇦🇺
Thanks for that buddy 👊
Great shooting as always mate.
You and that 223 are a fine pair 👌
Haha. We have a bit of a thing. 😅
had a great time thanks ....dogs will sometimes tree a grey foxes here in southern Missouri...strange to look up a tree and see a fox
Certainly is mate. Crossed a few in my time. Surprising how well they climb.
well i don't know who has the most fun ...... you or Nath , nice shooting , keep the vids coming 👍
Haha. Split decision. Thanks mate. 👌

😁they were having a good time before they encounter a 223 !!! Fuckin lovely!!!😁😁😁
The sheep coming over was cool
Gave me a good laugh. 👍
280 yards...👍👍👍
I often use thermal bino's to find car!
I use bogs too!...wet feet when hunting sucks...when mucking about in mini swamps looking for fox
298!✔️✔️✔️✔️🤯
Cat Splatter!
Thanks for posting.
Well made.
Appreciate that mate.
Love my 'bogs'. 👌
@@RJMHuntingAustralia I found bogs that are even lighter...all polythothrene...but..ladies...🤦
Haha. Whatever works mate. 💪
Good stuff loved it as usual
Cheers Adam 👊
Another cracking video and fantastic shooting really enjoyed most appreciated 🤙
Thanks for that mate 👊
Good job on the pest control. I couldn't help but chuckle as I imagined that one of these days you will be showing the farmer your haul from the night and inadvertently show the family cat that you thought was feral, lol. Hope it doesn't happen to you.
Thanks mate.
I always check with the property owner as to what is on the menu. All cats are a go on this place. 👌
I wish I was not in the physical and financial state I am in...but I am about to have my 31st surgery (July 10th) and 7th spinal surgery from a welding accident I had where #1000 of steel fell on me and crushed me....OR, I would fly out there and go hunting with you...That would be so danged cool!!!
Shit mate. That's terrible.
Can't imagine having to go through all that.
All I can say is I sincerely wish you all the best mate. 💪💪💪
Wow! When I was younger I would have loved some gear like that, but,my old Remington bolt does the job,{if I'm not too far away}🥰 Excellent work. It was wonderful to see those rotten little sods despatched so efficiently. My sheep thank you for your super work.🧓👍👍
Thanks for that mate.
I have a Remington in 308.
Nice bit of hear. 👌
@@RJMHuntingAustralia My pleasure. You must keep odd hours too. I'm off to stake out an intruder. Cheeky little sod hangs around the sheep shed, and,as cunning as the dunny rat. Using a Miroku lever this morning. One of my favourites. If only I had a night vision scope. The best I could do was duct tape the small spotlight to the rifle. Crude but effective😉 I'ma gonna get this ba--tard!
Good luck mate. Hope u nail him. 👊
@@RJMHuntingAustralia Got 'im! Bit of luck. It was a looong shot. He went straight up,and, came down like a bag of tomatoes...splat! A piece of old 9 guage wire makes a nice hauling hook. Crude ,but effective.Look forward to seeing more of your great work.😃
Awesome mate. Job done. 👌
Awesome mate great shooting as usual
Appreciate that Matty 👊
Great work mate :)
Thanks champion 👊
Love ya work mate.
Thanks champion 👊
Great work, keep it going.
Will do mate. Thankyou 👊

I appreciate that mate 👍
True legend mate, helping Australia get rid of feral pests!
Thanks champion 👌
Great bit of action plenty of foxes around that area nice job nothing better then a red dog eating the dirt great shooting
Thanks Michael.
Appreciate that mate 👊
If someone in australia wishes you a good day: RUN! 😆👍
Nice one, Rod!
Cheers mate 👍
Great shooting mate and love the g'day
Then bang flop lol
Well done champ
Really appreciate that buddy. Thanks 👊
Nice shooting, mate. 👍👍👍
Thanks. Was a great trip 👊
G'day mate, I reckon 🦊🎯💯👍🏻✌🏻
Cheers bud 👊
Nice work sir!! 😿🦊
Thanks buddy 👊
Cool video great shooting
Thanks champion 👊
Live in the USA, get people who drop unwanted kittens off around my place in the country, soon turn into feral cats, if they live through the winter...But they turn into targets then.
Same over here mate. Feral cats kill millions of natives in Australia every year.
Happy hunting great work
Cheers mate 👍
Thanks Rod, really enjoy your videos. And some really impressive shots with the Ole 223. That is my go-to calibre here on the farm. But saying that I have shot more dogs with the 22rf CZ. It's just the easiest gun to get at, and so far, they have all died without a compliant of being killed by a rimfire round. Cheers
That's awesome mate.
Good shot placement is the key with most any calibre. I do love the 23 though. 👊
Top shooting, keep goin on 👍🏼
Will do mate. Thanks 👊
nice shoots
Thanks
So you could be Fox Studios and Nathan is Hollywood this is great lol
Haha. Stop it. 🤣
I also wish there was a way to salt those pelts and ship them to me here...We would make some cash for sure.
Shame there's no market for them here. Bit of a waste. 🤷♂️
A friend of mines daughter asked me 'what sound does a cat make'? Bang.
😅 is splat a sound. Definitely a satisfying thud.
@@RJMHuntingAustralia it was a little surprising coming from a 8 year old.
Omg. Out of the mouths of babes. I don't know if I should feel guilty or have a giggle. 😅
When someone says G’day…. Run. In a zig zag pattern.
Hahaha.
Only if you're a fox, cat or pig. 👊
Love it.
Thanks champion 👊
well done mate...i've seen what foxes can do to livestock and it is horrid. thanks heaps for what you do
My pleasure mate.
Can be a tough gig sometimes but I love what I do. 👊
50 shades of G'day 😅 too perfect lol.
I thought so too mate. 😎
Love your work mate. Keep it up and pls load more videos.
Also, what do you do with the carcuses?
Cheers
They get collected and either buried or burnt mate
