I know Cody doesn’t like the stardust days and his other gimmicks but those of us that saw his potential loved it. He was brilliant at every gimmick he had. Even the moustache. It takes a special talent to actually give a gimmick like that credibility. All that was a learning curve and contributed to what he is today.

Stardust may not have been the best gimmick in the world but I enjoyed watching Cody Rhodes as Stardust when he was teamed up with his brother and then The Ascension for the short time both of those lasted. It's just a shame we never got to see him go from Stardust to Cody Rhodes in terms of him losing his mind believing he is Stardust and Goldust trying to bring him back as Cody Rhodes. They could have had the same match at Double or Nothing in WWE with a slightly more entertaining storyline if Vince McMahon wasn't in charge back then.
I thought it was a great gimmick, honestly. Just didn't fit the guy they gave it to. But the idea of Goldust having a similarly but slightly differently weird protege was a great idea.
I made him WHC and WWE champion in my universe beating first by separating from Cody and becoming his own thing then Stardust vs Cody Rhodes at Mania winner gets to posses the Cody Rhodes vessel and now it has been 4 years in the universe and he's undefeated
Even if you hate Cody you’ve got to give him credit he stuck through a bad gimmick and tried his best with it. I love stardust but everyone knows it messed his momentum and really how much people cared about him. I was watching wwe then he practically became a jobber by the end, takes a lot to push through that and actually come back from that

Cody's a hypocrite when it comes to Stardust though. He initially use to say it was his idea (promos and such) and it gave him a creative outlet, etc. Now days he diss the gimmick and like he implies here, pretend it never happen.
I remember seeing Stardust at a house show in Peoria, Illinois. The crowd kept chanting "Cody Rhodes" at him and he kept getting more and more incensed on the ring apron. That was commitment to me and I still remember it.
I no joke thought Stardust was AMAZING. I loved the gimmick at the time and I still love it. I wish Cody could also love what he did during that period, because it was so creative.
It was a weird thing... I knew Cody Rhodes didn't enjoy his time as Stardust and I felt bad for him, but I was also so impressed by his dedication to the role. He never broke character. He did interviews with videogame websites and still stayed in character, for goodness sake. Incredible commitment to the bit. The man has heart, and he more than paid his dues. The great thing about having gimmicks like Stardust is that he could always bring him back as a change up like as another personality to give his onscreen character more depth.
Stardust was one of the reasons I started watching wrestling. His video with Drax Shadow went viral on UA-cam back in the day and was on the popular section. That’s how I discovered wrestling and the WWE.
That clip of him standing on the barricade was the very last live event I attended and I remember seeing him as Stardust. I hated it for him. I was like “What they got my boy Cody doing man?…”
It’s amazing that Cody views his time as Stardust as a low point in his career, but it was the catalyst for his leaving and pursuing greatness, and then coming back a bonafide star.
I wished they gave StarDust more of a push it was a good character it was dope to see him with his Brother GoldDust. That Homage to his Brother Dustin is awesome and with their Characters n the Tag Team. But The American Nightmare is his flipp’n Best yet!! That homage to his Dad The American Dream.
I know he might not consider Stardust a highlight but I honestly enjoyed his character. I remember I went all out on a Stardust &Goldust poster w/ glitter and all for one of the WWE events I went to.
Him versus Stephen Amell will always be one of my favorites. I haven’t watched wrestling in years, and that was one of the first things I saw, and I was blown away.
While I didn’t fully agree with the idea of it like others but he was good at his craft and this is one of many reasons why he deserves to be where he is now

I was shocked when I found out that Cody hated playing Stardust because he was so good at it. He was so committed and played it so well. I honestly thought he loved it because he was great.
I like that bit you did on that short lived Edge and Christian comedy show. They get Stardust cornered, and demand to know what he has done with Cody Rodes. Then Cody walks in through the door saying something like hey guys looking for me. It was the first time I realized that Cody, and Stardust where supposed to be different characters.
I have to agree that I also think he was great as Stardust. I think it was the best thing he did in wrestling before now. As Stardust, as good as he was, at that point he definitely wasn't being himself, and I saw it as more of an extension of Golddust, rather than his own. Right now, he's easily the best version of himself that he's ever been. I think it's partly because he's actually being more himself than JUST a character.
