AnkerWork recently approached me to beta test their new MK-650. The items previewed in the video were provided directly to me for preview, but they did not dictate what I said in the video.
Adam nice vid quality! Good production and framing. Question though: I noticed you mention it has cables to “connect directly to your camera” so you don’t have to sync in post… what if you’re recording off your phone? Could you use a different app (i.e., not the AnkerWorks app) to use the M650 audio? You briefly talked about this, but it’s not clear how that would work. For example, if I have to plug the receiver unit into an iPhone to use the app, can you route that audio to, say, the iOS camera app to record a video with the M650 mic?
Thanks Jim! It actually works directly with the native camera app on the iPhone. All of the tests I shot I just used the stock app (as opposed to a dedicated app) and found the results were great. In fact, I had better luck using it on my iPhone than I did on my camera. So workflow would be plug it into your phone, make sure both the mic and receiver are on, and then hit record! I would run a quick test shot once you connect it to confirm it's working - I had a single instance in all my tests where for some reason it wasn't routing audio. After I unplugged it and then plugged it back in then it immediately worked, so I think it was just a hiccup.
I haven't had the opportunity to test the DJI mic yet, but I am planning on doing a comparison between the AnkerWork, DJI, and HollyLand mics to see which is the best go-to! I do have a friend who has the DJI, and he seemed to really like it.
Hey Mobombz! I didn't have any feedback issues - can you talk me through the scenario where you're using it? What camera, where you're doing the record, where the mic is located, and any other details and I'll try to help out!
Nice!
Great review Adam!
Thanks man! Learned from the best.
Ok I want to use this with my camera 📷
It's a great option!

I am looking to purchase this one or the dji. Do you recommend one over the other? Thanks!
