That was my thought too. I mean, those look like chickeng eggs. But it might be the start of the desert campaign, and maybe they received as rations. Not sure.
Eggs, bread and vegetables were easy to get especially in North Africa due to the welcoming locals and occupied France. It’s red meat/protein that was hard to come by due to price and scarcity. Like it’s that hard to acquire an egg ?

They mostly likely traded with some locals when their unit passed through a nearby village due to the friendliness and welcoming of the local population. Also those tanks were basically ovens in the desert sun they had to leave all their hatches open so it wouldn’t cook them alive inside due to know air control system.
Can u imagine driving these beasts through the desert? no climate control, 4 soldiers in a very small spaces, engine heat and sun burning the shit out of u? These guys were so damn tough. Compare them to modern men and u'll see that we took the wrong way in raising our children.
Trying to figure out how hot it actually got there... I'm thinking is 120° to 130° F hot enough to fry an egg??? 🤔 I'm guessing that's how hot it got....or the metal heats up 50° more under the noonday sun??
I think they are in the back of the tank, meaning that they used the heat of the engine to cook, makes sense to me Edit: looks like somebody heated up the plate with a gas burner for a prank, is a probability too lol
