Honestly same; when we got the BD unit in Mandalorian, I was ready to accept it was the same color as BD-1 and thought the LEGO set was strange for being red and not blue! But I guess I usually did keep Beedee a teal color.
Haha, I customized virtually everything (Cal‘s poncho, the ship‘s color and of course the lightsaber over and over again), BUT BD-1. for some reason I liked his base color scheme the most. So for me it works.
If only they were to make the a Mantis set (the main spaceship from Jedi: Fallen Order). The fin on the top reminds me of the Separatist Shuttle. That set also needs a remake, by the way.

I hope we get more Jedi Fallen Order/Jedi Survivor sets as the games have bountiful source material The Mantis, ATST remake, Inquisitor Tie, Police Tie vehicles, etc. I'm really liking this UCS BD1 the overall size and scale is near enough 1:1 the shaping is really good and the details in the legs and stem packs are cool to see. This would pair well with the R2D2 and The Child. I may have to focus on getting these but still backlogged on the 2019 Millennium Falcon and Boba's Starship
The first thing I thought of when I saw the head, and the lack of movement, was the Lego Ideas WALL-E set from a few years ago, which received that fix where instead of a ratcheted joint it was updated with the BIonicle style ball and socket joint. I wonder if a Bionicle style ball and socket joint would help this model in the way it helped WALL-E?
Great review! Loved the droid in game and like this build but ehhh I don’t need more big Lego sets right now, there’s sooooo many. Maybe if there’s a double point VIP or sale on I’ll get it.

As soon as I heard the rumor I knew I was going to get the BD-1. It’s definitely one of if not my favorite droid from Star Wars, so seeing how well the model was made and how expressive it is really makes me feel good about purchasing it!
I agree about the neck. I'm interested in this set, especially as a JFO fan, but the fact that he can't even turn his neck is a major major knock for me, especially since I like to collect LSW as a purist and don't like modding my sets.

Sorry to say but they brought back the forest man hideout promo cause they had some extra supply left, so it was a while supplies last kind of thing. Pretty sure they ran out a day or two into the promotion :(

After seeing this, I’m more likely to buy this. The last one that was close to IRL size was D-O but his wheel was unproportionate to his size. This one is much better and cooler looking.
So not sure if anyone has seen this, but Costco has this and a number of other sets at a decent discount. BD1 was about 79.99. The obi-wan vs farther Vader set at about 39.99, and a dual pack of Groot and the new iron man Hall of armor at 99.99.
I'm so glad you reviewed this! For better or for worse, I didn't get to watch you build it... "better" because it means I can still experience it for myself for the first time. But I wasn't sure if you were going to review, or skip, this. My hype for this set hasn't waned one bit and I look forward to the day I can get it at a better price. The lack of articulation doesn't bother me too much, though LEGO produced an animated commercial for this set showing BD-1 just striding with his legs completely stiff like that which was amusingly awkward. What's weird is that im a big star wars fan but I've never played Jedi Fallen order (not super into games) so I have no familiarity with this droid but I really want this set. I don't know what it is I just really like it
I dont like how wobbly it is. Just walking past it, the gust of wind your body produces will wobble it lol I'd rather have the BB-8 one, but I missed that one.
Perfect upload timing, was just binging through your other videos and this one popped up. My main concern with this model is the wobbling of the head, it feels extremely loose and i fear it may cause it to fall over far too easy; otherwise I was extremely happy with this set. This, the brick headz and the Scythe are the only worthwhile purchases from this star wars wave for me
I'm liking this build so far as I'm working on him as well. I didn't like the fact that when I got him, the box came damaged. I guess that's the risk I take when I get LEGO from other places than LEGO and get it shipped to me instead of going to the store physically. For me, it's testing my ability of mixing both system and technic building together as while I'm through bag 2 so far, I inspected every little part on the legs to make sure all the technic pins were in the right place.
It's a shame that this is the only _Jedi Fallen Order_ set we've gotten. Where are the playsets? Where's the _Stinger Mantis?_ Where are the Cal Kestis and Second Sister minifigures!?!
I saw this on display with R2D2, and I was surprised by its size as well; it's not much smaller than R2D2 even when discounting the antennas, although the latter has significantly more bulk and less empty voids. I wouldn't mind this actually, despite having not played the game this guy comes from, but I don't know if I'd pick this over the Inquisitor Transport Scythe. Both are added to my shortlist though and I'm keeping my eyes on them; they're probably the best valued (relatively) large Star Wars sets of this year to be honest, with this being very charming and the other being striking looking.
A Cal figure would've been great to go with the little BD-1 on the display plaque but that really would be an extra rather than an expectation.

I love all droids they did. They are all great and suprisingly worth the price.
This also seems easy to change colors and try to use one of in game the skins, I hope we see more of fallen order
