Well done, a skill is only good if one practices. I often surprise wet exit in the canoe with my grandchildren so they are prepared if things go south. Greetings from Maine !
Some good skills here brought this all back from about 50 years ago: When we were growing up we learned and practiced recovering from an overturned canoe. Aluminum canoes for us. Two fairly strong swimmers in their early teens could get under it, lift it upside down briefly enough to flip it, empty of water (mostly), all while treading water. Then it was a matter of each climbing in, one on either side simultaneously. Then look for the paddles. Thanks for sharing!
When the surf was big, and before it got so darn crowded, we used to wait for a big swell and jump of the Huntington Beach pier into the back of the swell as it was going by (so the drop wouldn't be quite as far) when surfing. Toss your board as you are jumping, so it is a little away from you, but not so the wind will pick it up and fly it into a crusty sharp oyster encrusted pylon, swim to the surface, put on your leash, and paddle out to the peak. This kind of reminded me of that. Been a while. I'd say a little easier to get on your board, than to slide up the back of a kayak. But, I've slid up the back of the kayak plenty of times too ... usually with a boat 1/4 full of water
Pretty cool! I'd always thought of a cowboy scramble as a rescue/re-entry technique for when your roll failed. Educational to learn it can be used as part of a launching too!
Perhaps being attached by a tow line would be a good idea. I know it was a sheltered area but the slightest bit of wind could make life more difficult than liked.
If it was me, I would've pushed out bound to avoid the rocks. It's a really easy open water reentry. Speaking as someone who has closely encountered an underwater rock to the cranium is all... wear your helmet.
There were people strangled by their own paddle leash. I prefer a spare paddle. Besides, who lets go of a paddle?! It is bloody expensive! You need a paddle! NEVER let it go!
@@voornaam3191 thank you for your reply. I'm a surfer, the leash really changed things in the impact zone. I've seen kayakers in the soup not be able to right themselves and have to get out of the boat. Once the spray skirt is off, their possessions spill out all over the beach. Just a suggestion, I really didn't like seeing him swim after the boat. Yes, I have kayaked in the ocean in my 10 foot (no rocker) river kayak. All the best regards to you
MRSM !!!! Men jeg blir mer imponert om du hopper rett opp i cockpit! ;-) ;-) . Da er det også et alternativ for dem som ikke bruker tørrdrakt ! :-) :-) :-)
I visited Norway once, on my motorbike, in 2016, and I borrowed somebodies kayak. That was a great weekend. So, go to Norway, if travelling is okay. Do not wait!
It’s a lovely straddle reentry but this video is showing what not to do in two respects: 1. The wind can blow the boat away faster than you can swim (so lower the boat with your towline to keep contact with it) and 2. jumping into the water from height can end very badly (use the ladder).
So this dude starts his paddling day with a wet suit that clearly hasn’t been properly burped - which is not recommended, btw - and then dumps a bunch of water in his kayak. He’s done all this to himself on purpose before he has even taken a stroke. I know launching like this has become fashionable on UA-cam in recent years, but it should be avoided in the real world as much as possible. I believe the reason why it has become so popular on UA-cam videos is because of the eye-catching visual alone. It’s like the “superhero landing”- it looks cool on camera, but it’s kinda dumb and pointless.
Buy a Valley first, use it for 5 years and then think again. One: this is not Tupperware. This is a top quality seakayak. Two: that rudder addiction results in bad kayakers who can't really steer. No rudder is better.
I would love to see you using both hands on your paddle for bracing while entering this boat. You’d capsize no question. If you need a rudder then you’re either inexperienced or you’re under sail.
I thought he was going to show his skill by jumping directly into the kayak.😄
Me too just like full on perfectly flick his legs into the compartment or something hahaha
Me twoo
You’ve comment feels like a spoiler, I thought the same as well
He missed 😡😡😡
😂

A better man you are than I! Good on ya mate and well done.
Love this, but the video of you returning gets my subscribe fo sho!
Perhaps being attached by a tow line would be a good idea. I know it was a sheltered area but the slightest bit of wind could make life more difficult than liked.
Yes if this was me with my luck the kayak would be far away by the time I got to it.
All welland good, but when he returns from his afternoon paddle how does he get back to where he started?
You made getting in look really easy !
What I had expected, was him tipping the kayak over, dive under, put his legs in, and do a Greenland roll. He just climbed in. Bummer.
I am impressed ! Best wishes from New Zealand.
This makes my recliner seem so sane.
I honestly thought you were going to jump straight into the kayak 😂
Awesome! can't wait to do that myself.
I'm glad he zipped up his suit!
The take-out is even better!

what kind of drysuit you recomand?
But, how will you haul it up when you get returned?
Using a towline
Respect 🇨🇦 🍁 🇨🇦
If you've been separated from your kayak it was probably because of big waves and they would still be there when you try to re- enter.
Okay, that is hard core.
Bäste Start jag har sett!
Kayaking is the daughter of the godess of swimming and a plank.
but how do you get it back up to your car?
I padled back.. This is an island :)
👏👏👏👏👏
I thought you were going to land right in your boat. Still pretty slick entrance, you may be part native American and not know it.
Maybe he still wants children? Ever jumped on a kayak?
@@voornaam3191 like in the cowboy movies where they jump on the horse. All the best regards to you
I would recommend a seal launch next time
Looks like a leash for the paddle and a leash for the boat might be helpful. All the best regards to you, say howdy to the ocean there for me

The jump is not far from the kayak. He need morrrrre distance so that he reach the kayak 1 day after.
Wow ✌️

Klippet en versjon hvor jeg "gjør" det :)
Bra gjort!
Dude’s a beast
Nice!
Where is this place ?
This is in Norway, an island called Tvistein outside Larvik
I visited Norway once, on my motorbike, in 2016, and I borrowed somebodies kayak. That was a great weekend. So, go to Norway, if travelling is okay. Do not wait!
Risk of permanently losing contact with your kayak. They can slip away faster than you can swim.
Would have been far to easy to go down the ladder though ^^
Nice job 👍 👍
How did you lift your kayak up on to that pier?
Using a towline.
Shit , I thought he was going to jump into it .
Nice kayak🤗
💯👍😎🇺🇸
Ich hatte zuerst gedacht, er springt in das Kanu. Dass er ins Wasser springt, hätte ich nicht gedacht!
nice job bro
That's impressive
vill se dig hoppa upp på bryggan efter avslutad tur =)

Burp, dude!😂😂😂
It is trickery to get into the boat easier. More air= more floatation.

Youforgot to squeeze the air out of your suit!
And now the way back to the car.
I was expecting to see a cowboy jump onto his horse.
😍👌🏻
me too. Looks like he over shot it.
You cannot enter many kayaks like that.
There are so many parts of this I could not do.
impressive
это весло из куска доски?
When you seriously have to, must, do a paddle
Porque ele não dropou dentro do caiaque?
Too much air in your drysuit.
Michelin Men need to burp!
That's part of his trickery to make it look easy. More air in the suit= more floatation.
Missed the hole. No points.
I didn't build a boat to sit in a puddle.
Its not so much how as it is: Why?
Should of bought a boat
Next time fasten the kayak to yourself with your timeline. It will prevent it blowing away.
🤔
Kayak Mannino
????????
I seriously thought you were going to use this technique 😄

Ya, I practice my re entry in a way that won't create an issue.
It’s the Norwegian way. Don’t expect too much 😅
He is in a dry suit not a wetsuit.
Sorry, it doas not make justice for en Norsk. What about seal launch ??? Go and take some sea kayaking instructions.
И сиди мокрый. Сомнительное удовольствие
Nah!
Running no rudder in Tupperware, why don't you make a proper seal start? This just has me cringe and laugh about sea kayakers.
