Parents outraged by the Ministry of Educations decision to close all 3 St. George's primary schools

Last night about 200 parents were told that St. George’s prep, St. David’s Primary and East End Primary will be closing down and all the students will be relocated to The Whitney Institute Middle school for the 2024/25 year while the East End Primary School (the selected parish primary school) will be renovated. Parents were outraged and concerned.
Parents questioned why St. George’s prep and St. David’s couldn’t just remain open and split the students from the East End into those schools? But the persons leading the meeting had no answers for them.
The Hon. Minister of Education, Diallo Rabain, JP. MP was not present at the meeting.
I waited outside the building and asked parents/ member of the community questions about the atmosphere which was described as: hostile, angry & fireworks.
Many parents spoke up about never receiving answers back from their submitted questions or suggestions during the consultation process. Others explained that even if the phasing into the 2 tier system and the parish primary schools is a great idea - the lack of communication and the disregard for parent’s opinions makes these transitions difficult and unfair. Another parent made note that she refused to send her primary school daughter into a school with middle school children.
