Daniel shows you how to make a delicious Korean Mushroom Hot Pot. It's an easy, simple recipe for a family dinner! If you haven't cooked for your family in a long time, give this recipe a shot.
Like any hot pot, the taste comes primarily from the broth. For this recipe, we will use gochujang, gochugaru and deonjang (3 pillars of Korean flavor).
To that, we will throw in a mix of mushrooms. Feel free any mix of local mushrooms. And if you can find it, throw in some udon noodles :)

Daniel, seriously you can cook but I watch your video for laughs too!! My hubby walks in and ask, " why are you laughing so loud from a cooking channel"??? Packets of sugar, I love it !!! Keep it real functional!!! You keep me entertain each time. I love your funny, calm and random sense of humor. Thanks for another good receipt 🤗
Haha happy I could bring a smile to your face. Tell the Hubby "we say hello!" 🤗
Oh wow, this looks so incredible. I'll have to substitute fried tofu for the beef. I can’t wait to make this. Thanks for the recipe!
I love that you kept it real by showing us the explosion in your moms kitchen.
Everything you make looks so good man! Can't wait to try it👌😂✨💕
Can you show us the label on the "soup" soy sauce. What is the difference between it and regular soy sauce? I don't know where to buy it from, any suggestions?
1981cherokee1 check out their pantry essentials video, he talks about it in there! It’s one of their early videos. Like the second uploaded. The soup soy sauce is the first one mentioned. In the description of the video he links to the website where he talks about the ingredients too. Soup soy sauce is much more salty and flavorful and is used mainly in soups, normal soy sauce is used in many many things. You can find soup soy sauce at Asian markets
What is "soup soy sauce?" at 3:28
That tub of gochujang thooooooo. G-ma is the real OG
OK Erika Guzman 😊hello to you
Mate I rarely actually laugh out loud at videos, but you taking a tablespoon of gochujang from a container the size of a fridge made me nearly piss myself
I am shocked that 30 lbs of Gochujang was passed through!! Roflol.
Oh my goodness, your grandma! That gochujang!!!!?! How?! Is she some kind of TSA Wizard?!?! I’m dying. =>.
Hi Dan-Yul!! The brown mushrooms are called cremini mushrooms or baby Portobello mushrooms. Their flavor is slightly stronger than the button mushrooms and their texture is a little meatier. Thanks for another delicious meal.
D. K. Aren’t they chestnut mushrooms?
I never heard of that name! Could be. Those little mushroom guys are tricky for sure!
D.K. thank you for letting me know!
They are, however the same species of mushroom, just as the portobello. It's all just how long they grow before being harvested, similar to bell peppers.
Chestnut mushrooms. They are the same as flat cup mushrooms only with tanned colouring... The taste is a bit stronger than white ones, yet still milder than portobello. Yes, they are all belong to the same family, only the age is the difference thus the taste.
“This is what you call... Hallel... and depending on your taste” 😂😂😂
This looks amazing, I had hot pot for the very first time, about two weeks ago, and I’ve been craving I again! Now I can make it myself
Looking forward to trying this. I’ve made the okra muchim about three times since the video came out. Haha. Everyone loves it.
Nice! Happy to hear that you are enjoying it Melissa!! 😋
I love mushrooms😳😳😳
I work at a mushroom farm 😂 those are crimini mushrooms 😌😌
So yummy. Great cooking! Please know that in Northern Cali, you can compost paper towels & other paper products together in the same "green" bin. I'm teaching my kids how to feed our compost worms. Look forward to seeing your next video!
Ahh daniel!! separating food waste for composting is good!! my heart hurt when those mushroom ends went into the trash
this looks really good though can't wait to make it for my family!
Wow. This tastes amazing and soo easy to make. Thanks for posting. Your family is beautiful.
I made mine with broccoli, capsicum, cucumber, carrot, button mushies, lotsa onions and added kimchi and fresh noodles (cause that's all I had). Ate the whole thing!
I looooove mushrooms... it's a good recipe to try during rainy days👍
I freeze that pot that you threw away from the King oyster mushrooms and put it in what I call my garbage bag to make stock with in the freezer. I add celery and onion peels onion n carrot tops and bottoms and once I save a whole bag it makes a lovely vegetable stock.
😍😄👍
Future neighbor!! Your my new favorite Korean food channel! Keep it up and hope to learn some neat tricks from you :)
I wish I could taste your hand made food once 😢❤️ love your page a lot ❤️
One day, we will have to arrange some meetups! Whip up some food for ya Neha 😄
That seems like a great dish for winter and winter is coming for the south hemisphere so i am going to try that!
Wow, Looks yummy!! and love your video!!! and lovely Mama's gochujang! ;)
In korean it's called Pyogobeosut 표고버섯
In chinese it's called black forest mushroom
In English sawtooth oak mushroom
Shitake is japanese
Man that soup looks amazing. Also, very funny bit about the philosophical questions; your dad sounds like a nice guy ;)
Haha, yea he enjoys sparring on open-ended topics that don't have an answer! Often time, proving his own points (over and over). It used to be breakfast thing but now the discussions have moved to dinner (thank god 😂)
Future Neighbor hahaaha nice. I teach philosophy so I'm familiar with the feeling of being questioned that way. Dude, your channel rules! I'm now cooking your recipes very often, can't get all the ingredients here in Mexico though, but we make do. Keep it up!
Would love to see more vegetarian recipes! And your mom’s lemon toner 😄
I have no family. I have been away in the hospital with 7 broken ribs a broken eye socket and broken sternum and a broken bone in my foot. I got home the end of last week so I missed anything you would have posted. This sounds Dee Dee Licious! :-)
I just made this for dinner. I loved it so much. I love eating mushroom. My hubby is not that big fan of mushroom but he loved the soup broth. 10/10 would made this again. :))
So guys, I went hard with the mushrooms. I'm talking 9 diff types. Because I've never met a mushroom I don't like. Well some are hella strong. Like so so strong. Word of advice, try the mushroom first. Also venture into the Asian market slowly like just pick a few things. I bought all the things and put it all together. Now I'm not sure what I don't like. Maybe shitaki. Gonna follow that recipe next time.
They are called Brown Chestnut Mushrooms. There's nothing fake about them at all. They are very good for a deeper fuller but softer flavour than button mushrooms. They are very good for your health also. We eat them a lot in the UK and Ireland. Thanks for your lovely mushroom hotpot recipe.
Great vid man, loving the background music.
Would love to see videos on summer time Korean food/ban chan. As it's getting a bit hot and my parents aren't about spicy food/hot soups.
Nangmyeon is my first thought but it's a pain :)
But also white kimchi is delicious
Hunting down a type of mushroom I had with my boyfriends parents in korea 🤔we went to a mushroom hot pot restaurant in incheon after church and it was the most delicious mushroom I’d ever tasted. It’s like a flat thin sheet in a coral shape... no idea what that was 🤤
Why aren't you composting your kitchen scraps? It's not a pain to do so if you put the bin right beside your food prep. You're in California for crying out loud! Lol (at least when visiting your parents)
Hey man, just wanted to let you know that I love your videos!
Your deception mushrooms are called chestnut mushrooms. They are very flavourful. xx
The little brown ones are Swiss Brown Mushrooms. They have a stronger flavour than the regular buttons :). I
Ahh, I loved the 고추장 part, the sugar bit and the dinner table reminiscing. I think you're one of a very few UA-camrs who make me laugh out loud. Thanks for that! Looks delicious too! I think I'll try it with seafood one of these days as I'm not really eating meat anymore (besides fish).
Hahaha. Well, happiness is eating that amazing mushroom hot pot!
Daniel tonight i tried your mushroom hotpot and everyone liked it. Thank you for the recipe. This will be my go to recipe 😍
Damn... That much gochujang is sure to last you a decade, maybe. Your grandma is insane.
Looks so amazing! Will definitely try to make this recipe. What is soup soy sauce? Is that just any soy sauce?
Yes, what is the meaning of life questions are a buzzkill... thanks for your tip
Yum! Those are baby portabella mushrooms! The large portabella's are the size of a hamburger patty and can be grilled the same and pop on a bun for a delicious meat substitute burger!
“Other button mushrooms” lol... they are called Cramini aka baby portobello
Then make the letter L as in *LOQUACIOUS*
Those brown ones are crimini mushrooms, often called baby portabello.
Its called garak guksu not udon !!!
Use korean names for korean cooking !!!!!!
The 'fake shitaki' mushrooms are called chestnut mushrooms.
I can't figure out what soup soy sauce is. Dark or light soy sauce?
I will use smoked tofu in this dish in place of beef. :-)
