That engine would look great in my 3rd gen, truck is sprayed black with a ton of gold flake lol. I went with shocker yellow powdercoat myself but i dig the gold 👌👌
Looks great! I like the color scheme! Looking forward to seeing how you do at KOS, also awesome to hear that you're able to give back to the community.
Hey, I like the idea of a mustard color tell you a little secret, if you ever have leg cramps at night take about 2/3 of a teaspoon of yellow mustard, suck it down and usually the cramps go away so that’s why I like that color anyways, it’s a six in a row Jim from Kennerdell, Pennsylvania
Dijon mustard looks great new name for the motor lol awesome stuff as always thanks for the awesome info and content this is the content I enjoy showing me/and the subscribers what works what doesn’t it’s great stuff.
Man you are so talented! I wish I knew half of what you do about these motors. I have a 6.0 and a first gen 12v I can do a lil but I’m to scared to try and tear into one like that hopefully I’ll get more brave one day. Love the videos and content keep it up
Only one way to learn man, just dig in! I didn't even know what a turbo did when I got into diesels 5 years ago. I def screwed some things up, broke some stuff. But now I have built my own 6.7 swapped 05, just built my own 48re with billet everything. It's not hard if you can read and follow instruction. Hardest thing for me is keeping organized. Take lots of pictures, label every wire, bag up all bolts with a good description on the bag. Good to go!
@@joshuaquilliam2887 I’ve started doing a few things I had problems with 12 valve and I deleted all the fuseable links and a few other thing’s trying to get it back running and it ended up being the fuel shutoff solenoid so I fixed it and it runs like a top now I’m planning to turn up the fuel and put in a bigger turbo next
Looks like an awesome motor! I've never hated a color scheme on motors or engine bays its always got some flair in it own special way! Also I'm sure you've said before but what are your thoughts of fire rings all in the head or block vs half/half?
The color looks good. I have to go back through your catalog but the “hmm I’m not sure how I like it” to “it’s growing on me” transition sounds very familiar!
Would u ditch the block stiffener with 12mm arp main studs or drill the factory block stiffener to accept the studs for a 1000-1200hp build? 6.7 engine compounds
Honestly I’ve never built a motor or never will build a motor unless there is a inside micrometer outside micrometer and I will measure each bearing probably 20 times blind, re-torquing the caps plasti gauge isn’t considered a precision instrument although I use it after initial clearancing I measure just to ensure the block and crank are true upon tightening. IV caught problems doing that and had to align home the block. If it’s out there tooling wise. Use it if borrow one. Short cuts lead to an inspection window or a lunar rodual launch through the hood
I would put them in the same category as achetes. They are drumming up lots of support with claims but deliverying little in hard results. Directed air control on pistons has proven to offer gains but I doubt the randomness of a dimpled surface offers the same results. The one thing it could do I see though is lower NOX by slowing the burn and drawing more heat into the piston. Not good for performance but makes uncle sam happy so....
Hey Josh im assembling my 5.9 short block and cant find the torque for the J jets or (piston squirters) anywhere what do you torque them to? Thanks in advance
Great videos hands down the best Cummins content on UA-cam
That oil pump trick is always satisfying to watch.

Are you going to be in Ennis, Texas this weekend for NHRDA vs ODSS? And by the way, another awesome video!
No we have Smokey mountain truck fest this weekend in Tennessee
@horsetorquesdiesel OK just checking. Thanks.
Here for support. A little late but better than never.
Color good if you splatter with third color might be cool
Do you have your own measurements you like or do you go with Cummins specs for clearance and gaps?
I know in videos past he has said he runs on the looser side for Piston to wall, rings, rod and main bearing clearance.
👍🏻
What is a short block build like this cost? Starting to look at a rebuild or built short block.
12-15k
Do you sell the tool you use as an oil pump to raise the oil?

👍💪
What pair of ring pliers do you recommend ?
I got mine at Oriellys
Can you please build a 5.9 with Speed of Air pistons? I’m very curious if their pistons are everything they’re cracked up to be.
